Chapter 1
"How should I start this?" the smiley nine-year-old girl shyly spoke into the camera.
"Start off with your name, and what you're doing, sweetie," whispered a woman's voice behind the camera.
"Well, my name is Liliana and I'm going to be singing for all of you flakes out the- wait no, that doesn't sound right. Turn it off Day!" she blushed into the screen.
I couldn't finish the rest of it. I couldn't bear to watch what happened next. I must have played this tape over a hundred times. I slipped the sleek, blue camera onto the table. I looked at the clock, 12:30am. Hey, I might as well go tan outside since it's so sunny already. It was my last day in Virginia, and I wanted to enjoy it. Tomorrow I'm to be shipped off all the way to freaking Hicks-ville way up North, so I wanted to enjoy the nice weather down here while I still could. I went out on my porch and stripped into my bathing suit. I lathered myself in tanning oil and sat in the sun until my eyes felt heavy and I drifted off.
"Daisy! What in the hell did you do, sit out here all day?" Momma Leena gasped. I jumped up, and winced with pain. I looked down, and my whole front side was pinched with color. How long was I out here? I gazed at the sky to see that it was orange and blue hues. Considering it's April, I must've been out for at least 6 and a half hours with lord knows how much tanning oil and not even flipping over once. Great, tomorrow will be just fabulous for my first day in Maine, looking like a lobster.

I looked around at the freshly painted room. It was a light green, with dark cherry wood accents everywhere. It looked beautiful. I started to hang up my pictures and paintings when I heard a knock. I ran downstairs to see a strange man standing outside my front door. I opened it, and noticed how attractive he was. He was gorgeous. He had deep green eyes, short blonde hair, and he had muscles. No, he wasn't tan like all the men in Virginia but he was a looker. It took me a second to realize how obvious it was that I was checking him out, and he smiled at me. Damn, his smile was even better.
"Hey, my names Seth, I'm your neighbor. I just thought I'd introduce myself," he softly spoke in his deep voice.
"It's mighty nice to meet you, Seth. My names Daisy," I glanced down at myself. I was wearing my trashiest clothes since I had just finished painting, and my red curls were tucked at the top of my head. I was a mess! "I'm sorry about my appearance... I'm doin' a little redecoratin'."
"Oh, should I come back later? I'm so sorry to interrupt," he apologized, "But I'd love to talk to you later. After you finish, would you like to meet up with me to get some coffee down the road?"
"I'd love to, I'll probably be an hour, is that alright? Which house is yours so I can walk on over?"
"Well, miss, it's the only other one on our block," he laughed and pointed to a white house directly next to mine. I started to blush because of my stupidity.
"Of course. Alrighty, well I'll see you then Seth!" and waved him off. I closed the door and dashed upstairs. I set up a few fans in my newly painted living room, then got in the shower.
