Can I Have This Dance?
Chapter 1
My name is Nicki Alab and I live in Arizona. My dad died when I was three and ten years later my mum remarried to my present step-dad Jake. I was an only child, but not anymore thankfully.
I have a step-sister called Clair, she's 18, has natural light brown hair, chocolate brown eyes, a model like figure, is 5'7 popular but a bitch. We've known each other for five years yet she hasn't grown to like me.
I also have a step-brother who is her twin brother. His name is Aaron, he's 18, quite muscular, has short black hair, chocolate brown eyes, a baby face, is about 5,9 and popular but because he's smart and athletic. He's the best (step-) brother any girl could ask for.
Then there's me, the ordinary looking girl. I'm 18, slim, have natural dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, ordinary clear skin and am 5'7. At school I have my usual group of friends both girls and boys who are all my best friends. I'm kind hearted, a tiny bit of a pushover but know the people not to associate with.
Well that's me and welcome to my life.
P.S. The senior prom is two months away and I can't wait!!!!!!!

"Wake up bad breath," Clair shouted from outside of my bedroom door.
She always acts angelic towards me when our parents are home, but when they leave she turns into Satan, well towards me anyway. I actually don't know why she dislikes me, actually she hates me. I try my hardest to kind and fit into the family, for my mother's sake but c'mon there's so much hate a person can take!
I lazily got up, took a shower before I put on blue skinny jeans, a black plain top, black plimsolls, brushed my hair, put it in a messy bun and grabbed my bag then ran downstairs to get some breakfast.
"Morning," I said to Aaron ignoring Clair
"Morning," Aaron said back smiling happily
"Erh, Aaron don't say morning to her, she stinks of wee; she pissed her bed I bet," Clair stated looking at me disgusted
"Says the girl that puts guys d***s in her mouth or have you forgotten what they use it for? Oh wait, I'm sure you've tasted it so you do know," I said matter of factly
She gasped and was about to retort when she had to leave since her escort to school beeped for her outside of the house.
"Bye loser and Aaron," she said lamely
I grabbed a box of cereal and milk, put it into a bowl and dug in.
"Well that went well," Aaron said putting his dish in the sink
"Yeah, I guess it did," I said
That's why I loved Aaron because he knew how to lighten the mood, so that I wouldn't be depressed and angry for the remainder of the day. He was actually right, it did so well since normally we were in each others faces or even fighting physically until he pulled us apart.
"Lets go," he said throwing his heavy arm over my shoulder when I had finished my breakfast.
"Ok," I said grabbing our car keys and my bag before we went into our separate cars and drove to school.
"Hiya," I shouted walking over to my friends
"Hi Nicki," they shouted in unison before they went back to their individual conversations
"OH MY GOSH! I found my prom dress!" Cassie screeched in my ear
"Is it? What does it look like? Have you brought it? What colour is it?" I asked screaming, bombarding her in questions since I was excited for her.
"What is all the shouting about?" Aiden said nudging me in my arm. But before I could reply Cassie told everyone about her dress and how her mum was going to get it today.
"Now I'm the last one to get a prom dress!" I said exasperated
"Oh yeah, but don't worry we'll help you pick out a lovely dress," Aly said rubbing my shoulder comfortingly
"Yeah," Amber agreed
"But I'm gonna quickly go say hi to your brother," Amber continued. She was going out with him and has been for a year now, they're such a cute couple.
"Guys I think that we should go to homeroom now, I don't want to be marked as late" Patrick said
We all agreed with him and made our way. Since Derek and Katie were in mine I went with them but they didn't wait to snuggle up and talk to each other excluding me which they did unconsciously sometimes. So I sketched my dream prom dress until homeroom finished, said a quick bye to the love birds and went to my first and favourite lesson. Art.
I wasn't looking where I was going and bashed into something or someone and looked up to see Alex, Mr. Popular Jerk. I closed my mouth instantly taking back my sorry and bent down to pick up my drawing which I dropped only for him to do so faster than me.
"Ohhh, what's this?" Alex asked looking at my drawing
"Your dream prom dress??" he asked mocking me
"Give it back," I said starting to loose my patience
"Or what?" he asked smirking
"Or I'll do this," I stated stamping hard on his foot, enough for him to wince and for me to quickly snatch my drawing out of his hand. I didn't want to do it too hard because then I might get blamed for him not being able to play football and that was a whole other story.
"Ow! No sorry," Alex said to my retreating body walking away
"No," I shouted behind me satisfied with what I had done. He always did this and it was getting really irritating.
Lessons went fast and lunchtime came.
"Hi guys," I said placing my tray on the table sitting next to Ricky
"Hay, how was class?" Ricky asked
"Good, how was woodworks?" I asked knowing he loved it
He smiled and was about to continue when Katie cut him off
"Hello?! You guys are talking about boring lesson instead of the prom that's approaching really fast!" Katie stated to the table
"Oh c'mon babe, that's all we ever talk about," Derek complained making a whole group discussion on the reasons why and why we shouldn't talk about it.
I just listened and ate my lunch glancing over at a glaring Clair in her slutty clothes. She just laughed staring right at me before going to sit on Alex's lap.
She irritated me so much I didn't realise that I was squeezing all of the juice out of my carton.
"Er... Nicki, your apple juice," Aiden stated making me come back to earth
"Oh crap," I said searching the table for tissue
"I got it," he said cleaning up my mess with a pile of tissues
"Someone's angry," Patrick said before returning to his conversation
"Ignore her," Ricky said helping me clean up my mess
"Do you know what I'm gonna go to the bathroom to wash my hands before they get sticky, Aly can you quickly come with me please," I asked
"Sure," Aly answered getting up and following me

"Thanks for following me, I just needed some one to come with me," I said washing my hands before placing them under the dryer
"That's fine," Aly said looking down and I could instantly tell that something was up
"What's wrong?" I asked her when my hands were dry
"Has Patrick asked you yet?" I remembered
"No," she said looking down sadly. I knew that she really wanted to go to the dance with him and so did he, I could just tell.
"Don't worry I'll speak to Aiden about it. I won't tell him you asked," I quickly added knowing that she didn't want me to tell him that it was her by her expression.
"Anyways lets get back to everyone, I'm sure Aiden will be getting worried about where you are," Aly teased
"Oh shut up, he's like my brother dude," I said as we made our way back.
"You two took long," Patrick said looking at both of us but mostly Aly.
How could she not realise that he likes her and the other way around??
"Aiden can I quickly talk to you please," I asked pulling him up anyway and ignoring Aly's horrified look.
When we were not longer in the cafeteria I started.
"Do you know if Patrick is gonna ask Aly to prom?" I asked
"Why" Aiden asked smirking and leaning casually against the lockers. I knew exactly what he was thinking.
"Because she wants to go with him and I was wondering if he was gonna ask her," I stated casually
"Are you sure?" he asked with the exact same expression and posture
"Yeah and can you stop looking at me like that, your freaking me out," I wined linking arms with him and pulling him with me to lesson, making him chuckle.
The rest of the day went bye slowly and I couldn't wait to get back home and sleep.
I hugged everyone good bye before hopping in my car and driving home.
No one was home yet so I went to my room and collapsed on my bed exhausted as usual not even realising that I had gone to sleep.
Dream------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dream
I was in the school gymnasium and it was only me. The hall was decorated with beautiful flashing lights of the rainbow colours; there was a long table of beverages including drinks and snacks. Then there were individual tables decorated with white material as well as the covered chairs in black and white.
It looked beautiful, like a dance should look like, but ours wasn't in the school hall so what was I doing in here. I looked down at myself to see that I was wearing a beautiful pale pink puffy dress which flowed over my shoes which felt like high heels. I instantly let my hands wonder over the dress and onto my neck where I felt a necklace. I looked down to see an extravagant, lovely diamond studded necklace and I felt like it was all a dream even though everything felt real.
"You like it?" I heard a male voice ask from behind me startling me
"Oh. I love it," I answered turning around to face a smiling genuinely (not smirking) Alex.
"That's good since it was the reaction I was hoping for. But I was hoping that I would get something small in return," Alex stated moving closer and pulling me towards him by my waist.
I smiled instantly knowing what he was talking about when his eyes drifted towards my lips and he began to move his head closer and I did the same. Our lips were about to touch----------

I woke up startled by the NIGHTMARE I just had (Yes, it was a NIGHTMARE!).
Wow, I was about to kiss Alex, Mr. Popular Jerk.
What the FLIPPING FUDGE!?!?
"Nicki, dinners ready" Clair shouted outside of my room
Well 1. She called me by my name which means that the parents are back from work
2. It's DINNER TIME already, which means that I slept for quite sometime.
