Ness and I are currently painting the bakery ourselves to cut down expenses.
We're painting it light aquamarine blue and white (we're of course wearing facemasks to avoid the paint fumes).
"So Ness, can I ask you a favor?" I asked her.
"Of course anything"
"Would you be the godmom of my kids?"
"Em, I would be honored, but you know I'm dying soon, my hair has already start to fall out so......"
"Yea but before you ''clears throat'' go,"
"Very well then, I would love to...wait
kids?"
"Yea I'm having triplets" I said giving her a toothy grin
"Yay" she cheered
"We should go shopping for them like asap, wait what gender are they and how far are you?" she jumped all giddy.
"Two boys and a girl, Almost four months"
"I need someone to talk to aside my mum and well, Jay is a guy he wouldn't get me, so can I --"
"Of course Em, anytime, you can trust me I promise to hold it till death"
"Well, two weeks ago I went home to tell my husband, or now ex husband, that I'm having triplets only to meet him in our matrimonial bed with someone."
"I mean, we had been drifting apart for a long time and I had been suspicious of him cheating I just didn't know it was with my ''clears throat" my best friend...ex best friend and it turns out it had been going on for 3 out of the 4 years of our marriage, like what da fuck,"
"Then he had the guts to stop me from ripping her apart and called me a cheating bitch, when he was the one caught in the act, not that I'd ever cheat for him to catch me in the act."
"The one that I think made me snap was when he called my babies bastards and that they should die ----" I stopped choking on my words.
I looked at Ness to see her patiently listening to me so I continued
"I left the house that night but not before giving him the slap of his life of course, after I left, I went to the park and that was how I met Jay and he helped me"
"Although I know it's strange that I trusted a complete stranger, but, look what trusting someone completely strange led to."

"I'll be forever great full and indebted to him"...
"You know he wouldn't want that" she cut me off
" Yeah, well enough about me and my bastardo of an ex husband let's talk about you".
"Well, my parents died two months ago from leukemia, the doc had told them that they didn't find theirs early but having surgery might help them.."
She stopped to looked at me
I went to her and placed her head on my shoulder "it's ok if you don't wanna go on" I mussed
"No I gotta let this off my chest, sooner than later"
"They didnt come out of the operating room alive.."
I won't tell you I'm sorry Ness cause that only makes it worse and it does not help what so ever
"How do you know..."
"My dad died five years ago"
"Well the doctor said mine was diagnose early, but I don't wanna waste money"
"You Know Jay doesn't think of it as wasting money right" I repreminded
"Yeah" she breath out
"Shall we continue while painting?"
"Why not"
"What do you want to be". I asked her
"A teacher, I'm getting my teaching degree next month" She said with a smile
"Would you teach my kids?" I asked out of the blues
"If I'm still alive then, I would like to see you try and stop me," We laughed
Finally we are done with the bakery we've set up everything in it
"To the therapy office" Ness screamed
By now Jay had finished work and brought us lunch
Hey Ness" I called as we painted the walls white
Yeah? She asked
"When we finish this I want you to write two bucket list one for me and you, and the other for the three of us to do"

"Wait I'm not done for the rest of this week since I'm opening on Saturday night, we're going to do me and you list first, before we can do the list with Jay in it you have to agree on something"
"What-?"
"You would do the operation with no complaint what so ever"
"Deal!" she said after some time
"The me and you list shouldn't be too extreme, extreme ones should be left till Jay is with us cause truth be told, if anything happens neither of us can carry the other"
"That's true" Jay cut in
"I'm going to get water downstairs" Ness said
I felt someone behind me I turned to see Jay but before I could muster a word he engulfed me in a tight bear hug
"Thanks Em" he said
"For what"...
"For everything"
"Huh?"
"Getting Ness to do the surgery, making her smile, being my best friend, everything"
"Ur welcome".
