"So this is what you've been hiding." a young brown haired man said as he kneeled down in front of me, a smirk on his lips as he looked me up and down. "Rather small isn't she, a bit on the lean side,"
"What do you expect, Kol? You'd be thin too if you fed almost entirely on blood." my Father said as he stood in the corner of my cell.
I watched silently as the young man slowly stood and walked to my Father. I was back in my old cell, the familiar chains wrapped around my arms, legs, and throat. I looked down at myself and saw I was covered in blood. My clothes completely drenched in it.
I remembered how hours before I'd been in New York. Mother and Father said they needed me to help them so they'd had me kill 20 something vampires who refused to form an alliance with them. Pathetic, fools. They should have accepted their offer while they had a chance. Now they laid in piles along an alley way, drained of their blood. I felt no remorse.
"So the clan in New York?" Kol asked with a sly smile, looking back at me.
"Oh they're long dead, Arista had no trouble ending them."
"Really?" Kol said, raising an eyebrow and looking to me again. He was attractive. "It's quite impressive really, that someone so small can create so much damage."
My Father smiled at him, "Oh killing is easy for her. It's getting her to stop once the plan is complete that's the hard part." he walked over to me and reached a hand down, gently pulling me up, "She's our greatest weapon. You're right to take interest in her."
I looked from him to Kol, a small smile on my lips. I stared into Kol's chocolate eyes, raising my eyebrow at him in a teasing manor.
He stared back, a smirk still on his lips, "Well you can imagine how surprised I was to hear there was another Hybrid about. My brother takes pride in being the original. To have the possibility of taking away that pride is most appealing to me."
He took a step closer to me, his scent filling my nose. He had the typical bad boy look and it was really turning me on.
"Eh, em," my Father said stepping between us with a glare on his face, "I suggest me move this to another room. Nicolette is here to, um, help our dear Arista sleep."
He placed a hand on Kol's shoulder and led him out of my cell. I stood there watching them leave, I was sad to see Kol go. A craving was building in my stomach and he would have sufficed it nicely.
"Hello, my dear," a black haired woman said as she entered the room. Her voice tore me from my dirty thoughts about Kol, who was she?
"I know you don't remember me, but we've met many times before," she walked over to me and placed her hands on both sides of my head, resting her palms on my temples. The moment she touched me, electricity shot through me, making me freeze in place. Then everything went hazy and I fell into a deep sleep.
Sophie's POV
I stormed up to the Mikaelson house, banging hard on the front door. "Open this damn door now!" I yelled, letting all my pent up anger out. I was here to get answers. I wanted to know why Klaus had held Viola captive and why he'd had her killed when she'd done nothing wrong. If I had to use my magic to force the answers from his lips so help me I will.
The door was yanked open and Elijah stood there. He wore dark pants and a white shirt under a leather jacket. He stared down at me, confusion clear on his face.
"Sophie Deveraux," he said raising an eyebrow, "how can I help you?"
"I need to talk to Klaus, now."
"I'm afraid he's otherwise occupied. Is there anything I can help you with?"
My anger grew as he said Klaus couldn't be bothered. I didn't give a damn if he was busy. I need answers and I need them now.
"I need to speak with your brother immediately. Right now!"
I raised my voice at him and he narrowed his eyes. With a sigh he nodded, "Please, come in. I'll be just a moment."
I stepped into the doorway of the huge house, instantly feeling intimidated. I did not like being here unless I absolutely had to be. But I needed answers. I needed to know why Viola was killed. Sebastian needed to know.
"He insists on not being bothered. Come back tomorrow." Eljjah said as he walked down the stairs.
I balled my hands into fists. This was not okay. I needed answers now. "That's not good enough," I said as I pushed past him and ran up the stairs. I knew he could easily stop me if he wanted to, but I could also use my magic oh him. He knew that too.
I made it to the top of the stairs and pushed open the door I'd seen Elijah exit from. I stormed into the room, shocked at what I saw.
Arista laid motionlessly on a big bed. Her chest barely moving as she weakly breathed. Klaus sat beside her, his hand resting on her arm. His head shot up as he heard me open the door. A dark look took over his features, as he stood and walked toward me.
"I said not today!" he yelled, grabbing me by my arm and pushing me toward the door.
"No!" I shouted using a bit of my magic to push him away. "You had my friend killed! I need to know why!"
"You are in no position to be making demands," he growled coming towards me again. I raised my hand up, prepared to use my magic again. To my surprise, just as he was about to grab me, a bark rang out. I glanced down and fear instantly shot through me as I looked at the small puppy.
It can't be. No, this is impossible.
Klaus's POV
I stopped in my tracks as I saw the fear build in Sophie's eyes. I could hear her heart rapidly pounding in her chest as she stared down at Pip.
The small pup barked again, this time lunging at her with his teeth bared.
"I'm so sorry! Please, young master, I meant no offense! I beg your forgiveness!" she cried to him.
What was this?
She looked at me then back to Pip. Terror filled her eyes as she slowly backed away from the growling pup. She turned and ran when she was clear of the room.
Something was definitely up.
I used my speed and stood in front of her as she ran down the stairs. She ran into my chest and squealed, I used the opportunity to grab her shoulders and hold her still.
"Let me go! I have to leave right now."
She looked at me with big eyes, she was shaking with fear.
"What's the matter?"
Why was she so scared of Pip? And why had she called him young master? There was definitely something going on here.
Before I could question her further she pushed by me, using her magic to make herself stronger. I watched from my post on the stairs as she ran from the house. I would have to get answers from her tomorrow.
Arista's POV
I woke up and was instantly met by the comforting smell of Klaus. His scent surrounded me, I was definitely in his bed. I stayed still, keeping my eyes closed as I heard footsteps enter the room.
"What was that all about?" Elijah calmly asked
"I'm not sure. Sophie seems to have quite a fear of young Pip, here."
Sophie was here? And what about my Pip?
I let out a breath, grunting at the effort. I opened my eyes and saw Klaus and Elijah both standing at the end of the bed watching me. I tried sitting up but struggled to find my strength, I shook and fell back on the bed.
"Lie still," Elijah spoke as he walked over and placed a gentle hand on my forehead.
"What happened?"
Elijah looked at Klaus who'd come to stand beside his brother. A look passed between the two, a hidden message being shared.
Klaus was the first to speak, "It seems that you're just full of surprises, love. You panicked, and your fear made you stop breathing."
What? I remembered how badly I'd struggled for air. I absentmindedly reached up and rubbed my neck. I remembered how tightly my throat had closed, and how I'd gasped for air.
"Luckily, Elijah here is quite equipped in the medical field."
I looked from Klaus to Elijah, staring into his chocolate eyes. There was something familiar about those eyes.
"What time is it?" I whispered, trying to sit up again.
Elijah placed a strong hand on my shoulder, holding me down.
"You need to lie still. It's about 7 in the evening."
Shit. I'd been out all day.
"Niklaus, I need to go. Stay with her, she shouldn't be alone in case another attack happens."
Klaus nodded his head and Elijah gave me a smile.
"I'll be back soon. I assure you my brother will take excellent care of you in my absence. Isn't that right brother?"
"Enough with the big brother talk, Elijah. She'll be fine." Klaus said in an annoyed tone.
I smiled at Elijah as he walked from the room. When he was gone I turned my head slightly to the side, looking at Klaus. He was staring at me, his blue eyes like two pools of water.
"So," he said moving around the bed and plopping down beside me .It was comforting lying beside him, I felt safe. "Your little pup seems to give witches the heebie jeebies. Know anything about that?"
I remembered hearing Pip speak to me. Should I tell him?
I decided that I would wait. I barely understood it and I didn't want to spread Pip's secret around if it could potentially get him into trouble, or even killed.
"He's just a puppy.." I shrugged looking over at Klaus. Our faces were even with each other, making him staring at me much more intense. I flushed and looked away from him, feeling very self conscience.
A rumbling sound rolled through the house then. No, not again, I thought. I grabbed fistfuls of sheets as lightening followed the thunder.
I felt my chest tighten. It was happening again. Why was I such a coward?
"Arista, look at me,"
Klaus's voice was low as he spoke, reaching over and forcing me to look at him. "I'm here. I won't let anything happen to you. You're safe."
He spoke with kindness, making me believe his words. Another rumble sounded and I felt myself jump.
Something unexpected happened then. Klaus reached around my waist and pulled me to him. My face resting against his chest.
He was comforting me.
What had changed in the past days? How had he gone from strangling me in his living room to comforting me when I was scared?
Lightning flashed and I buried my face into his chest. I was scared but I was able to breathe. Klaus helped me calm down and get myself under control.
"It's alright love," he said, I could hear the smirk on his face
"Don't make fun of me you jerk," I whispered into his shirt
He chuckled, "Never, darling."
It continued to storm throughout the night. Elijah had called Klaus soon after the storm picked up to see if I was alright. Now that it was late, I began to tire. I yawned, still leaned up against Klaus. We'd been sitting in silence for hours. He had his arms draped around me and ran his fingers comfortingly up and down my wrist.
I tried to remember my dream, to remember what had happened. I remember a young man's face but I can't remember his name or how I knew him. How convenient. Klaus rubbing his fingers across my skin wasn't helping my memory either.
My hatred for him was quickly becoming nonexistent as he took care of me.
"You should get some sleep, love." he whispered into my ear. I nodded my head and yawned again, snuggling my head into the crook of his neck.
We stayed like that, him holding me against his chest, keeping me safe.
I fell asleep comforted knowing Klaus was with me.
