Sitting in class everyone is talking about NHS (National Honors Society), a group of Seniors and Juniors in high school. The elections for the board were yesterday and supposedly only about 35 out of 75 voted. I had said I did not vote because i did not like any of the candidates. Before i could even finish what i was saying everyone looked at me like i fell out of a damn tree. The teacher looked at me and said "didn't your parents teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say than don't say anything at all?"
To answer that i was but I also was taught to voice my opinion. If they would have let me finish what i was saying before i was rudely interrupted i was going to say that I think the elections are just a popularity contest, the kids who ran for a position were all "popular". When we need a motion carried they pick only people they know and if someone doesn't get picked they become all butt hurt and mopey about it. Like come one seriously who care we all have better tings in life to do. I'm not going to name names but to whoever reads this and you know who i am i don't want your sympathy, nor do i need to know who you are.
A girl in my class looks over to me and says "that's mean, how would you feel if someone said something mean about you," but guess what people have and it doesn't bother me. The way i see it is that the election should be completely blind. The people who want to run have to write out why they should have the position and all the members have to decide who has the best fitting actions. Not some damn popularity contest.
I was told by many of the people to vote for them because i knew them. Sorry that's not how things work. Just telling someone to vote for you doesn't make them rush to the polls to vote for them. Yea you are my friend in all but what if you want to get rid of the fundraising for childhood cancer to replace it with a fundraiser for getting a class trip to Hawaii. (Random example)
Sometimes I lose all faith in humanity and want to simply high-five someone in the face with a chair made of steal. The girl who told me i was "mean" is a major hypocrite because she talks shit about me all the time, seriously do you not have anything else better to do like go save a cat in a tree or go get lost in the streets. For all i care get high and do something productive.
