I was born with a type of SCID (Severe Combined ImmunoDeficiency). It made my immune system very weak because I didn't have enough white-blood cells to really finish the system. So I was basically born without one. I couldn't hold down food, I had to have a feeding tube. And I couldn't go to the park without some kind of shield. Doctors said I probably was going to die before my first birthday and my parents should plan my funeral. I stayed in the hospital for the first year and a half of my life, and I was skeletal. When I was born, I was nine pounds even, and then to drop it all was crazy. So, my mom took me to the doctor and they said it was an ear infection. We went to another doctor, knowing it was not just a ear infection and Dr. Heiziak saved my life. She sent me to Children's Hospital and they sent me to Duke in Durahm, NC. I have to go back to see the main doctor who saved me, Dr. Buckley. She is really old, but very sweet. Now every kid my mom and dad have, has a one-in-four chance to have it, but I have a little sister and brother. They didn't have it :D.
Another note: I had a broken clavicle when I was born. That's the bone right below your neck on your chest.
