I long to be free
Like a plastic bag drifting through the wind,
The air slapping my face,
Bringing the smells of autumn within my grasp.
But for now I shall just have to be content to sit in a car,
Roll the window down,
And close my eyes,
As the winds slaps my face
Bringing me the smells of everyday life
Tinted with the things I long to see.
Fields of endless grass, spotted with wild flowers in a rainbow of colors.
A ocean just beyond my grasp, the heavy smell of salt filling my senses.
Fresh air, clear of all of the things that taint it,
Smoke, gasoline, sewers.
All of this, barely within my grasp,
yet so far away I can barely imagine it all.
And all of these things are brought to me
Through the wind I wish I could drift through.
