Allison when you break up

The words Allsion never thought she would hear slipped out of your mouth.
"We need a break."
Her head snapped up from her homework, brain on alert.
"What?" She knew this wasn't real; it couldn't be.
"We need a break," you repeated.
Those simple words spiraled and it left Allison sobbing. She sobbed and sobbed until the tears didn't come. After the tears she felt empty, as if nothing mattered anymore.
Allison texted Lydia, just asking her to come over.
Lydia texted back, saying she would be over soon.
Allison waited for her friend to get there so she could talk.
Soon Lydia was sitting in the living room with Allison, comforting her.
"I thought Y/N was the one," Allison whispered.
"She might still be. Maybe she just needs to clear her head."
The pair sat in silence for a while longer, thinkingThen, Lydia spoke. "You both were fated to be together."

There's no such thing as fate." Allison stood up and walked away, her eyes starting to cloud with tears.
