Between the cracks on city hall
a little soil from on high did fall
Perhaps a bird on the homeward wing
Did this earth from the empyrean bring
And in that lay asleep a seed
Waiting its time, this time concede
Until from the grey cloud loud spoke
Drops so light did the dirt soak
A shoot tender from hearts of stone prise
Lines a rose budding from far distant sunrise
Deep and deeper did the roots life instill
To break walls with a growing good-will
So spirit of humanity shall always thrive
Even when ground down, be always alive!
