Today marks exactly 6 months since I was taken.

Days and nights alike pass easily. The man brings me books to read and wonderful meals to eat. I am surprised at how quickly my time has flown by.

Meanwhile, something is budding between him and I. I'm not sure what. But whatever it is, I can feel it. I feel it in the way that he looks at me, almost longingly. I can feel it in the way he cares for me. The fact that I might actually have feelings for him is scary and sends that all-too-familiar tingle down my spine, igniting my whole body in excitement. Honestly, I don't know what to think about it.

I stand up from my usual sitting place and walk over to where he has left me a fresh stack of books. They are worn out and frayed in some places as I run my hand across the cover of one, reading the title in gold print.

ιστορία των θεών

I sit down again, against the wall and start to read it, hungrily. As usual, it's translated into a tongue I can read. The pages are thin so I turn them with care.

The book is about gods-- ancient deities the Old Norse worshipped. Each chapter is a collection of myths compliled into a chapter about that god. I already know about some from school-- Thor, Odin, Frey, Balder, Tyr. But after skipping through pages I find myself drawn to the chapter about on I haven't read about before. The God of Mischief: Loki.

                          L O K I
         ---------------------------------
Prince of Asgard, Brother of Thor, SilverTongue, Lord of Lies, Jotun-Son, Odin-Son, Slayer of Many, God of Evil, Mighty Trickster, God of Mischief.
         ---------------------------------
        The most unpredictable and
        certainly the most dangerous
        god in the Northern pantheon
        was Thor's brother Loki. His
        activities ran from
        the merely mischievous to the
        blatantly malicious. He kills for
fun and is known as the Lord of
        Lies for a reason.Supremely
        clever, Loki ensnared everyone
        in complicated problems, to
        which he always supplied a
        remedy- through his solution
        often engendered even greater
        troubles.
        ------------------------------------

The outside world fades away as I am brought deeper and deeper inside the world of the gods. I remember something the man told me about the 9 realms-- Asgard. Asgard is mentioned in here as well . . .

Am I in Asgard?

I push away the thought. What lies he fed me.

I am pulled into the entrancing stories about Gods and Goddesses, and mythical creatures when I hear footsteps and a noise outside my cell.

Clank clank clank!

I bolt to my feet, staying close to the wall. I peer outside the cell. A large shadow moves through the dark, making it's way to the cell across from mine. My heart races. I can hear my blood roar in my ears. "Hello?" I try to seem strong, but my voice ends up sounding small and weak.

The figure slams his feet upon the ground. His fist is held to the side of him, holding 2 or 3 slender beings by the neck. They howl and shriek.

The lights in the cell flick on at his command and I can just make out some of his features: long blond hair, well-muscled arms, thick gauntlets made out of solid metal wrapped around his wrists, and those ever-so-familiar green eyes.

The spirits held tightly in his grip are made of pure darkness. Like a void.

He approaches the cell wall and it opens up for him. He shoves the spirits in with a grunt. "Get in there, ya bloody bastards." The door slams behind them and he turns back to leave the prison, but stops. He stares straight at me.

"By Odin's Ravens! You scared me." He squints. "You're a woman."

I look down at my body and back at him. "Well, it appears so."

He chuckles. "Who brought ya here? Women are hardly ever bad enough to end up in the dungeons of Asgard. Was it Odin? My idiot of a brother?" He doesn't sound mean. Only teasing. He must really love his brother.

"You have a-- oh! Loki?" It clicks at the last second. I remember reading that Thor, the hero of Asgard, had an adopted, lesser-known, troublemaker of a brother.

He nods and smiles half-heartedly. "He's-- he's mischievous, alright. But I love him. He's my brother, you know?"
The man sounds sad, longing. Disappointed.

"Then you must be Thor."

"Indeed I am. And who might you be?"

"Allissa."

He nods again and scratches his chin. "Pleasured to meet you, Lady Allissa. But who brought you here? Like I said-- you don't usually walk into the dungeons and find something other than an ugly beast. Not to mention someone as beautiful as you."

I tuck lock of hair behind my ear and blush a little. "That's sweet. Well, I'm not sure who brought me here exactly."

"What does he look like?"

"Tall. Long slick black hair. Slender figure and muscled arms. And bright green eyes-- just like yours, matter of fact." I cock my head slightly a I notice that my kidnapper and Thor have exactly the same eyes. Blazing green.

"You spend a lot of time 'observing' him, don't you?"

That same blush comes back. "No! I just-" My cheeks burn. "I was just trying to remember what he looked like so if I ever go back to the mortal world or whatever, then the police can arrest him."

"You can't arrest him-- sounds to me like your kidnapper is the immortal Loki, the God of Mischief. My brother."

So Loki, a Norse God, kidnapped me But why? And why can't I go home? Those questions and a million more float around in my mind. I pinch my fingers between my eyes.

Thor watches me thoughtfully for a moment. It's very quiet, but I think I hear him say:

"Has he found a girl? Is she . . . the one?"

I can see the hint of a smile playing on his lips. Like he knows something. But then he looks confused. "That's strange. Loki was just in prison after he declared war on Midgard. And the first thing he does is take you here."

"Wait. So Midgard is real? And I am really in Asgard? You're not lying? Lacing my meals with--"

Thor shakes his head. "No! Most definitely no to that last one. But yes, you are standing in the castle of Asgard, in Asgard, right now. Loki kidnapped you from Midgard. It's all real."

I nod slowly, allotting mysefl a moment to take it all in. I'm in another realm. Far, far away from my old dorm, and my family. A wave of homesickness rushes over me.

"So Loki declared war on Midgard? What happened?"

"Long story short, my brother decided to attack Midgard and eventually deem control of it. He unleashed some of the nine realm's biggest monsters to attack New York City. He killed thousands of innocent people. The only people with the power to stop him were the Avengers. I included."

I can understand how hard for him this must be. Seeing his brother turn like that, then having to stop him and physically and mentally hurt him.

"We fought him, and he and I had a final battle on Stark Towers. I hate fighting him, but I don't know what had gotten into him-- he had to be stopped. We defeated him and I took him here to stay for a long time. Butbhe must've escaped, which doesn't surprise me. What does though, is bringing you here, right after leaving."
He pauses and crosses his arms. "It just doesn't add up."

I think about that. What could cause Loki to kidnap me right after escaping from prison? I have no idea.

"Well, Lady Allissa, I must go. It's been nice talking, and I do hope you get out soon." A spirit across the room howls. "And these three won't bother you much."

He smiles again but this time with a hint of mischief-- just like his brother. He nods a goodbye and disappears in a flash of godly light.
