Misaki/Mia pov:

After several hours of walking, we made it back to Lior. With Edward in his current state, we wouldn’t be able to fight and unless I took off the seal that chained down my chakra, fighting would be dangerous. I guess the best choice now was to rest up a little and head back to central city.

We walked into an inn in Lior and I asked the receptionist for one double bed room and one single bed room. I handed the double bed room keys to Al and I walked away without another word. When I got into my room, I slammed the door shut and leaned against it. I sighed and felt my eyes sting again.

I gave a heavy sigh and shook my head, coming back to my senses. I dropped my supplies bag on the bed and stood in the middle of the room. I put my hands together and made hand signs. “Kai!” I broke the chakra seal I had on myself and I sighed feeling relieved and energized as my chakra flowed through me. But in a split second, I reduced it and hid it.

I bit my thumb drawing some blood, did hand signs and placed my hand on the ground. “Kuchiyose no jutsu!” A white cloud of smoke appeared and when it cleared, I saw Pakkun. “Misaki chan, good to see you.” He said and I smiled. “Good to see you too. Pakkun, could you give this to Kakashi san please?” I dint have the mood to even ask a simple question on how everyone in the village was…..I was so mentally tired.

I held out a scroll to him. I had been recording activities and important information that I was able to gather over the past 2 months and I had jotted it down in the scroll. I had to report the progress regularly so Tsunade sama could send in reinforcements in case I needed it. Pakkun took the scroll in his mouth, nodded and poofed away.

I sighed and shook my head. I walked out to the balcony of the room and watched the busy city silently.

Scar pov:

I had long figured that the fullmetal brat and the dragon alchemist were going to Lior. I had followed their footprints and since the desert winds weren’t intense at this time of the year, they had not been blown off.

When I made it to the city, I kept a low profile and walked through deserted alleys trying to find them. There were quite a few military soldiers here and since I was a wanted criminal, I tried to avoid their gaze as much as I could. I stood in one alley and looked around and narrowed my eyes when I saw the girl.

She was standing in the balcony of an inn and she was watching the city. Her eyes looked distant and she sighed. “I didn’t think this mission would be this challenging….” She muttered and I narrowed my eyes further. Being a state alchemist, she should have expected the risks and dangers. Probably she would have been better off as a normal military personnel. But I guess Ishbala had decided her fate.

I looked around and made sure there were no military men around and I made my way to the inn. I didn’t bother talking to the receptionist and I went to the floor they were staying in. I opened the door of the room in which she was and locked it behind me. She seemed to have heard me and she walked back into the room. When she saw me, she raised an eyebrow questioningly but didn’t seem afraid at all.

I was expecting that she would be scared since she hadn’t been able to fight me off earlier this day. But she just sighed and shook her head, walked past me and sat down on the bed. She pulled out her bag and began going through something that looked like a scroll. I narrowed my eyes at her strange behavior.

“You do not seem to be afraid.” She gave a short laugh but didn’t look up from what she was reading. “Should I be afraid?” It was as if she was mocking me and I glared, taking off my shades.

“You are weak, and you couldn’t fight me. I could kill you in less than a second now.” She chuckled amused and I frowned. “Weak? I suppose in your eyes I look weak. But looks can be deceiving, correct?” She looked up with a smile. I couldn’t understand her at all.

“Very well, since you are not afraid to die and I respect your courage, I will send you to Ishbala painlessly.”

Misaki/Mia pov:

I chuckled and sighed in amuse at his words. “I’d like to see you try.” He shot out to attack and I easily dodged. And just like last time, every part of the room that his hand touched, exploded into bits and pieces.

I jumped out the window and I saw Al run out of his room balcony when he heard the noise. I cursed when Scar saw him and ran to the room in which Edward was there. I ran after him and climbed the wall using my chakra and reached the room to. Scar was running at Edward and I screamed. I used a little more than normal chakra and ran at Scar and attacked him to the ground.

He fell on his front and I landed on his back. I was thrown off and Scar advanced to attack me. I did a back flip and dodged his right hand as touched the wall and furniture and blew it up. He was trying to move us apart so that we couldn’t help each other and I so wished I could summon a clone now. And to make things worse, Edward’s prosthetic leg was damaged and he could even walk.

I tried to keep Scar occupied as much as I could and I yelled to Al to get themselves to safety. “Get out of here! I’ll hold him off as long as I can!” I yelled and they dashed out of the room. Al was carrying Edward and I felt relieved that they were out of harm’s way.

I took a peek between the fighting to make sure they weren’t in sight, but it was a mistake. I lost my footing and Scar placed his right hand on my side. It glowed red and my eyes went wide. I heard a sickening squelch and blood splattered on the wall and floor.

I fell to the ground hard and the wind was knocked out of my lungs. Scar narrowed his eyes and scoffed at me. From the amount of blood and the pain shooting through me, I could easily tell that my internal organs were damaged.

Fighting the intense pain, I jumped up and ran out of the room. I coughed and blood splattered on the ground and I knew I was in a serious mess. I could feel Scar’s chakra and he was running after me. I felt dizzy and my vision kept going blurry. I followed Ed and Al’s chakra and on the way used healing ninjutsu to heal my internal organs. I made sure that it was just a surface wound but I was still losing blood and if I didn’t get medical attention soon….I wouldn’t last.

When I finally reached Ed and Al, they screamed seeing my state. I fell to my knees in front of them and coughed out more blood. I was panting but I took the wall for support and stood up again. I covered my mouth with the back of my hand and panted. “We have to…..get….to the….train station……now….” I said between wheezing.

“Mia san! You’re in no condition to run! We have to find someone to treat you!” Al yelled in worry but I took his hand in one of mine and applied pressure to my wound with the other. I dragged him as he held Edward with one arm and I ran towards the train station. Ed and Al tried to resist, but I just pulled them hard and ran to the station.

“Scar is probably…..right behind us. We have to….get out of here.” I managed to wheeze again and we made it to the train station.

We had managed to get a lot of attention from the people in Lior and they sent looks especially to me since my entire side was soaked in blood and I was wheezing. There were also several military personnel and they seemed to recognize us. “Fullmetal alchemist sir! Whats going on?!” I looked up at the man and he bent down as I fell to my knees to help me. “Miss!”

“She’s the dragon alchemist! We need to get back to central ASAP! She’s losing too much blood and Scar is still after us!” Edward yelled and the man nodded. He picked me up bridal style and I didn’t have the energy to resist. We all ran to the train station and we were taken into a small train.

The minute we entered, several men dressed in white aprons ran to us and took me from the soldiers arms. I was laid down on a bed and I heard people saying that this was an express train that would take us fastest back to central. And the men in the white robes were doctors who could give me treatment for the time being.

I relaxed a little and summoned the last bit of chakra I had to seal my chakra to a low intensity like last time. I didn’t lift up my hand, but I did the hand sign and muttered. “Huin! [seal!]”

My stomach burned and I hissed and gasped like a fish out of water. “Miss! Please relax!” The men yelled and I shut my eyes tightly and gritted my teeth at the pain. I felt a sting in my arm like a shot and things around me got hazy. Voices seemed dull and far away and finally everything faded to darkness.

>>Timeskip

I groaned as I felt conscious again. My lids trembled and I slowly cracked open my eyes. I saw a plain ceiling and frowned. My stomach and my back hurt and I closed my eyes and sighed in pain. I opened my eyes again and pushed myself up on my elbows and finally managed to sit up. I bit my lit as my side ran a shock through me and let out a breath from my mouth easing the pain slightly.

I looked around the room I was in. It looked like a hospital room and on one of the walls was a big window. And I could see the buildings similar to the ones in Central city. Well, I assume I was in Central since the train we were on was supposed to head to Central city.

I sighed as I continued to stare outside the window. I could hear the bustling of people and I wondered how long I was out. It would have probably been a few days since I didn’t have my 100% chakra to help me heal faster. I heard some footsteps approaching my room and I turned to look at the door. I saw lt Havoc walk in and I blinked. He had his usual bored look and a cigarette sticking out of his mouth leaving a thin line of smoke coming out of it.

He also had a bouquet of flowers in his hand and when he saw me awake, he grinned. “Well, look who’s finally up.” I sent a small smile to him and chuckled softly. “Hello lt Havoc. How long was I out?” He walked towards my bed and replaced a bunch of dried flowers that was in a table vase with the ones he had brought. “Hmmm….about 4 days. You were in pretty bad shape. The doctors said it was a miracle that you had the energy to fight and live.”

I nodded my head slowly. “I see….what about Edward and Alphonse? Are they doing ok?” I was still a little worried about them since Edward’s leg had been damaged. “They’re ok. They’ve gone back to Risembool so Edward can get his automail fixed.” I hummed and nodded. That was good to hear. But I was embarrassed that with my ability, I couldn’t actually defeat Scar. Oh well, I guess in this world, I wasn’t an embarrassment, but helping the others escape was probably considered heroic.

“So how do you feel, miss Mia?” Lt Havoc asked and I smiled at him. “I’m ok….my side and back hurts but its tolerable. Oh, and you can call me Mia.” He grinned back and took a deep inhale of his cigarette. He blew it out as a puff of smoke and sighed. I giggled and winced when my side hurt. “Are you alright? Should I call the doctor?!” He waved his arms frantically and I nodded my head. “I’m fine, don’t worry. But you….smoking is bad you know?” I teased and he chuckled.

We heard more footsteps and we looked to the door. The colonel, and all his subordinates entered and smiled when they saw me awake. I smiled back and the colonel congratulated me. “Welcome back to the land of living, Mia! Good to see you finally awake.” I chuckled. “Good to be back.”

“I see the lieutenant is still doing a good job.” He smirked at lt Havoc and I looked back and forth between them quizzically. Lt Havoc grumbled under his breath and looked away from the colonel who started to chuckle. “Mia, if you must know, lt havoc has been kind enough to visit you everyday and bring you fresh flowers to speed up your recovery.”

I blinked and looked back at lt Havoc. He turned to face the colonel and glared. “Colonel! Don’t butt your nose into everybody’s business! Besides, you were the one who wanted me to send her flowers!” The colonel chuckled. “I gave you that order the day she came to the hospital. While you, have been doing it every day.” He smirked and I chuckled as lt Havoc seemed to have lost his voice at an effective comeback at the colonel.

“Ah! Whatever! Stupid pompous colonel!” I giggled and decided to voice my opinion before they started out on a full on verbal battle. “Thank you, lt Havoc. I really appreciate you coming to visit me everyday.” He looked at me and stared blankly. A few seconds passed and his cheeks turned slightly pink. He turned to face me fully and rubbed the back of his head embarrassed. “Y-you’re welcome, I guess.”

“So how are you feeling Mia?” The colonel asked and I smiled. “I’m ok. The wound still hurts, but I’ll live.” “We heard what happened! You were really brave and strong, miss Mia!” Lt Furey said and I smiled.

We all spoke for a little while and had some coffee together. Finally deciding it was time they got back to work, all of them gave me their best wishes for a speedy recovery and I thanked them whole heartedly.
