Chapter #3- Heart to Heart with Asher.

I turn my head down and frown when Sel demands to make eye contact with Alpha Ulysses. Correction, an angry for Moon only knows what reason Alpha Ulysses.
"Son-" Luna Avery starts to say something, but he stands up abruptly, making his chair fall and strides out of the room.
What just happened?
There is an awkward silence in the room for a minute, before I break it by yawning, "Excuse me. I think, I should hit the hay..." I trail off uncomfortably, and stare at my bare feet.
Wait. Bare feet? Where are my shoes?
'In the guest room, pea brain' Sel snorts.
'How did you know?'
''Cause I am smarter and more observant than you, duh'
'That you are, love'
'I know, right?'
"Yeah, you should go and rest. Tomorrow you start work..." Hayden frowns.
He already got me a job in the company by pulling some strings, considering the fact that he is now the Gamma of the pack, and also the COO of the pack owned MNC. Ash Inc.
As I am about to leave the room, Luna Avery's voice stops me in my tracks. Not that I am wearing tracks. I am wearing ripped jeans... but whatever.
"Ulysses never sleeps without eating food..." She says and I agree wholeheartedly. No one should sleep hungry. Actually, it should be a crime to sleep hungry.

"-Delilah, could you be a darling and go hand him some food? I'll get a tray ready" She is already up and about, before I can protest and I am stuck standing there like a fool, frozen on my spot.
Seconds later, Luna Avery is back with a tray loaded with all sorts of delicacies and hands it to me, "His room is opposite to yours" she adds and I don't even ask why that is.
"Did he not move out?" The question is out of my mouth before I can blink and my cheeks colour at Luna Avery's raised brow. She must think I am such a gossip mongler! Which I am... but she doesn't need to know that!
"Yes, he did. But his condo is under construction, so he is staying at the pack house until then" She answers and I make my mind then and there.
I am moving out tomorrow.
'No way in hell' Sel growls and I give her a glare.
'Yes, I am. Now shut up. And make a note. Contact an agent ASAP'
'I am not gonna remind you that!' She sneers and I smile at her, a saccharine smile.
'Your OCD will make sure that you do'
'Fuck you, you manipulative bi-' I block her to avoid listening to her profainities and make my way to my room aka guest room.
I don't even have to search for Alpha Ulysses' room as his scent is strongest opposite to the room of mine.
Standing outside and contemplating the odds (I know what you are thinking, you are such a coward, but hey! Can you blame me? It will be my second meeting with him. Alone.) and finally deciding to knock, I raise my fist to knock, and just when I am about to hit the door with my knuckles, the door is opened.
And instead of the wooden door, my knuckles hit his forehead.
Fuck me.

"I.... uh... I..." There are so many words I have to say, I am supposed to say, but all of them get choked in my trachea.
"Are you done stuttering?" He snaps.
"Uh... Luna Avery... Uhm... She sent food for you" I frown at the lasagna.
It looks Yummm.
"I don't want it" He growls.
Okay.
"Okay" I say and turn around, with the tray of food in my hand.
More food for me! Yay!
His loss.
My gain.
"Wait" his words are more like an order and I bristle. Did he change his mind? This lasagna really looks good.
I turn to scowl at him.
"Yes, Alpha?"
My eyes first catch the sight of his full pink lips, that are parted ever so slightly, then his nose, which is slightly crooked, and his cheekbones, which are high and finally his eyes.
It's not until I catch his aqua blue eyes, that I realize Sel is on surface.
'Sel... don't' I warn.
She takes a harsh breath and breathes out, 'He is fucking hot!'
I tune back to reality and quickly and not so discreetly give him a once over, and can I just say, that I am not at all disappointed.
Moon, that 5 o'clock shadow, suits hum just fine.
And why the hell is he shirtless already?!
I mean for heavens sake could he just put on a shirt before opening the damned door?
Sel is already out of control and.... damn that V-line....
Yup. I am in deep deep shit.
"Where are you going?" He demands.
"To sleep" his eyes turn Neon, and just like that, I know I am doomed.
His wolf is on surface, in co-command with him.

Sel starts barking and growling at the back of my mind and I put all my efforts to chain her in.
'Calm down, Sel' I plead, but all I get in response is, 'MATE! MY MATE! MINE!'
"I-I... should go. Good night, Alpha" I rush out and turn to leave.
"You came to give me food" his deep voice, deeper than before, stops me.
"Uh... yeah"
"So give"
"But.. you didn't want it?" Had I heard him wrong before?
"Oh. I am hungry, alright Mate"
Okay. The lasagna looks good enough to make anyone hungry. I don't blame him for chan-
Wait.
Did he just call me 'Mate'?
"Uh..." his voice didn't send shivers down my spine, but his wolf's did. God only knows I feel like I am electrocuted just by hearing his deep voice.
"Come in" his wolf purrs, opening the door to his room further.
No. That will be the worst idea. Ever.
'GO!' Sel shouts in my ear and I flinch.
Taking advantage of my sudden vulnerability, and catching me off guard, Sel snatches the reins from me.

"Sure" Unlike me, Sel's voice is sweet and alluring. Like a temptress.
'More like a Siren' she shoots back smugly.
I try to get the reins back, but she blocks me and I start praying to the Moon Goddess for a miracle. Although in the back of my mind, I know that things are going to go down from here, at the pit of my stomach, I have this feeling of excitement.
We stride in his room, him trailing behind me and I take in his room. Everything is pristine.
Spotless.
All the pillows are neatly placed on the king size bed which swallows half the room.
A flat screen TV which covers almost the whole of the wide white wall facing the direction of the bed. The wall that has the headpost facing it, has the painting of a dark brown wolf, who looks eerily familiar, and nothing else.
His walls are bare. No pictures or wall hangings.
The lights in his room are dim, and there are two doors, besides the main bedroom door.
His room is boring, to be honest.
A stark contrast to mine.
But, this is only a guest bed room. Maybe his room back in his condo is different.
Wait... why am I even thinking of his room? It's none of my damn business!
'It actually is...' Sel smirks and I frown at her.
She blocks me before I can introduce her to my colourful language.
"So..." Sel trails off as she seats us on the edge of his bed.
"Yes?" His wolf is still in control, or co-command if going by the colour of his eyes.
When a wolf's eyes turn the neon of its original colour, it means their wolf are in co-command, and if the eyes turn black, or dark brown, it means the wolf is totally in control.
Very few werewolves are able to co-command, me not being one of them. You need to be really strong, both physically and emotionally for that, which I am not.
"You changed your mind about the food?" Sel asks, eyeing the tray in our hand.
"Yes. Yes, I did"
Sweet baby of Zeus.
Why is his voice so deep... and husky?! This should be illegal!
"Oh. Okay" She makes a move to hand him the food, but he holds her hand, making her freeze.
"What's your name, Mate?" He asks.
"Selene"
"Selene" He tests the name on his lips and then murmurs, "Beautiful name, love"
"And what is your name?" Sel asks.
"You don't know?" He sounds confused, as if he can't understand why Sel doesn't know his name.
"Uh... that's why I asked" Duh.
"Oh. My name is Asher, love"
Oh. His middle name is his wolf's name.
My middle name is my wolf's name too! Delilah Selene Raymond.
Wait, aren't all werewolves supposed to have their wolves' name as middle name? No wonder he was confused!
How dumb can we get?!
'You may be dumb, I am not' Sel snaps and I barely have enough time to salute her with my middle finger, before she blocks me.
"Your name is hot" Sel comments boldly and I cringe. Talk about subtle.
Apparently, so does Asher, whose eyes noticably widen a fraction, before a smirk graces his lips.
"I know" He says and I face palm. Cocky much? They sure are a match.
"It's getting cold" Sel says and he raises a brow.
"Is it? I thought it is getting hot in here"
Cold? Hot? What the hell is going here?
Why are these crazy wolves discussing about the weather, which seems just fine to me?!
"I was talking about the food" Sel deadpans. Oh, I see.
"Food?" He asks. How can he forget this mouth watering lasagna?
"The same one that your Mother sent for you" Sel smirks. She hands him the plate as he sits next to her, and starts playing with some strands of her hair.
He doesn't eat the food, but instead keeps the tray aside, and turns to face us.
"Can I ask you something?" Sel asks after staring at our Mate, Alpha Ulysses Asher's face for some time.
"Anything, love"
"Why did you get angry downstairs?" Yay Sel! You probably want to be kicked out after just entering his room! Good going girl!
He is silent for a beat, and I am sure we are gonna be kicked out, but then surprising the hell out of me, he says, "I wasn't angry, Mate"
He wasn't? Then why would he leave dinner? Without having anything?
"You were" Selene insists and narrows her eyes at him.
He chuckles. It's a quite sound, not very loud, but still manages to send shivers running down my spine.
"No Mate, I wasn't angry" he insists.
"Then why did you leave so dramatically?" Sel inquires.
"It was my host"
His host? Alpha Ulysses he means?
"Ulysses?" Wow, Sel just called him by his name!
"Yes, Mate. He was angry"
"Why?"
"He just wasn't prepared for what your host did"
"What did Delilah do that he wasn't prepared for?"
What the hell did I do?
"Delilah. I like her name" he says thoughtfully.
Aw. Thanks.
"What did Del do?" Sel is not one to beat around the bush, so now she is getting pissed.
"Well, you see... I was feeling such a strong pull towards you, that Ulysses had to use all his power to reign me in, and I could feel the same from you" he smiles, and I swoon. I literally swoon, and when I realize just how starstruck I am acting, I am glad that Sel is in control.
"Lys was feeling the same pull towards your human, and he couldn't take his eyes off her, but your host... she was acting like we weren't even there in the room... she wasn't affected, I couldn't smell the mate pull on her..."
Going through heat alone, does that to you babe....
"And the final straw was with the chocolate..." What? How did chocolate come in this? I mean chocolate is always welcome to come in between anything but here? I donno.
"-She licked her finger, and Lys' control snapped. It was either leaving or marking her then and there, in front of everyone"
Wow.
Just wow.
I am speechless.
'See! I told you! Our Mate wants us!' Sel did a mental fist pump, but my spirits are already down.
He didn't follow his first instinct and mark us. He doesn't want us...
'Oh, Fuck you! You piece of pessimist shit!'
He still doesn't want us.
'Can someone give me a plough? Have to dig a bitch's grave' Sel was angry, but she had no right. Or maybe she did. But she was angry for the wrong reason. She should've been angry for not being Alpha Ulysses' first priority...
'You know what? I am going to tell Asher to mark us. Now'
...I can't believe Alpha Ulysses. I can't believe someone can be so abhorable to his destined mate. I can't-
Wait, ask Asher what?!
