It was the start of San Diego Comic Con and was set to be Skye's first public/work appearance since the crash.
After coming out of hospital she hadn't really left the house. The only time being a couple of days previously when she had the cast taken off of her wrist. Other than that, if people wanted to see how she was, they'd come to her. If she was hungry, thirsty or in need of anything it was brought to her. Ian had made it so she didn't have to lift a finger. He was being incredible. He was comforting, showing her so much love and being extremely protective. If Skye was honest, it was driving her crazy.
"Are you sure you're up to this?" Ian asked with concern, his left arm slung around her shoulders and his eyes fixed on her own.
They along with their cast mates were currently on a yacht, put on by the CW so they could arrive in style. They were only minutes away, the venue and what was sure to be an amazing few days awaiting them. Ian was stupid if he thought Skye was going to pull out now.
"Baby, I've been looking forward to this since I got out of the hospital."
Ian couldn't help but release a disgruntled sigh. Can't she see he's just trying to look after her? "I know Princess, but you're still recovering."
"I feel fine..."
"You're still taking your painkillers, so don't lie and say you're ok when I know you're not."
Skye had been trying so hard to give him what he wanted, she really had. The crash had affected him so much, in some ways more than her. He wasn't sleeping properly, didn't relax, was constantly worrying about her.
So far she had just been letting him get on with the whole overprotective thing. If it made him more comfortable, happy, then that is what she'd do. He'd basically been her carer for the 3 and a bit weeks she'd been out. They were never apart.
Comic-Con was something she wasn't going to sacrifice though. Skye saw it as her way of showing the fans and the public in general that she was back, that she was better, that she was appreciative and thankful. The fans had been so supportive, so loving. If her sitting in a chair signing some autographs and answering some questions was enough to say thank you to at least some of them, then she was going to do it. She wanted to do it.
"Baby, it's not like I'm going to be doing somersaults or bungee jumping. It's just answering questions, taking pictures and signing autographs."
"I just don't want you pushing yourself too soon."
As annoying as Ian was being right now, Skye couldn't help but melt at the way he was. Nobody had ever cared for her as much as he did, never worried for her as much as he did, never loved her as much as he did. It was those damn blue eyes. She just couldn't resist them.
Wrapping her arms around his torso and pushing herself into his hard chest she couldn't stop the affection filled grin that slowly began to take over her face. "You've not got to worry about anything. You'll be with me the whole time anyway. We're Holly and Damon, remember? It's kind of a package deal."
"I guess you're right," he smiled back, placing his chin on the top of her head as they reached the dock and the awaiting thousands.
"Just promise me one thing?" Ian asked as they were being ushered off of the boat along with their cast mates, the crowd bursting into rapturous applause at the sight of them.
"What?" Skye wondered as she slipped her hand into his, the pair taking the lead as everyone else trailed behind.
"If you're struggling or you're tired you tell me straight away."
"You'd know without me having to say anything baby."
