I wake up to my alarm going off.
Funny, I don't remember setting it.
I look at the time- 5:30am
Then everything comes back to me.
I'm a wizard-well, witch technically, cause I'm a girl. And I got accepted into one if the finest wizarding schools according to grandma. My family is strange and has a particular purpose in the wizarding world, making us different. And today Grandma was taking me to a place called Diagon Alley to get my school supplies.
I get out of bed and get ready. When I head out of my room I smell bacon and eggs. I walk into the kitchen to find my grandma cooking away and whistling.
"Good morning dear." She says without turning around to see me. "Breakfast?"
"Um... Yes please... Thank you" I respond as she sits me down and hands me a plate.
"Eat up quick now, we have a long day ahead of us." She states as she takes off her apron and heads upstairs to grab her purse.
I scarf down the food and grab my letter on my way to the front door. Grandma is already there waiting for me.
"We are going to take the bus to downtown London okay?" She says as we walk out the door.
"Sounds great" I say and we make our way to the bus stop.
~~~
The bus ride was shorter than I expected and before I knew it we were on the streets of London. Grandma led me through the busy crowds and around many corners. We found ourselves in a dark back alley with only one entrance in sight. As we approached it's sign, the words appeared, as if they were only to be read by us, or perhaps our kind. The sign read, THE LEAKY COULDRON.
"Grandma, what's a couldron?"
"It's a type of pots wizards use for potions and such."
"Oh. Why did the words on the sign only appear to us?"
"Oh Avery you are such a curious and observant one. It will get you into trouble one day you know."
"You didn't answer my question..."
"And you don't ever stop talking do you?! The sign only appears to wizards and witches because it is a special diner for only them, not muggles."
"Muggles?"
"Non-magic folk. Now try not to talk so much today alright? We don't want to catch unwanted attention from people." She whispered to me as she dragged me inside.
Grandma quickly lead me through the diner, which I figured was really a bar, so I took in my surroundings as fast as I could.
Everyone was looking at us and whispering, although I'm not sure why. A couple of people said hi to grandma but she just brushed them off and kept walking to a door in the back.
Outside of the door was a small space surrounded by brick walls. Grandma took her wand out and tapped the bricks in the wall in front of us in a clockwise pattern. Instantly, the wall started coming apart from the center neatly. The stacked bricks rotated out of the way to reveal a secret street.
"Welcome to Diagon Alley" grandma said as she grabbed my hand and started leading me through the crowd.
