Kanna sat in the living room floor waiting for her father to call. She held the little Den Den Mushi in her hand but it didn't ring. Today was her birthday, she was turning 12, and she knew he would call but the longer she waited the more anxious she became. Father told her that he would be able to talk more since he was taking care of a little boy and didn't have to hide his identity from him.
"Don't worry honey he'll call," Kannas mother smiled down at her, "He wouldn't forget your birthday."
"I know mother....but I have a bad feeling somethings wrong."
-Knock, Knock.-
Kannas mother walked to the door and opened it. Two soldiers stood in the door way and Kanna began to panic.
"Your husband, Donquixote Rosinante, has been killed." One of the soldiers said.
Kannas mother fell to her knees crying with her hand cupped over her mouth. Kanna didn't move, she couldn't move. Her father's dead, he's gone. Kanna couldn't process the fact that he's dead. How? When? Why?
"We're terribly sorry for your loss," the soldier placed a comforting hand on Kannas mothers shoulder.
"How did he die?" Kanna finally spoke, surprising the soldiers.
"We can't give out that information." the other soldier answered.
Weeks after the news of Kannas fathers death her mother went into severe depression and just stayed in bed. Kanna took up the house hold duties such at cooking and cleaning. Her mother never moved from her spot on the bed. She just looked up at the ceiling. The loss of her husband hit her hard and Kanna couldn't take it anymore. Kanna went to her mothers room, for once, and she wasn't in her bed. Kanna looked around the room and spotted her mother beside the closet door holding something to her head.
"Mother please!" Kanna pleaded with her.
She held the gun to her head with an unfitting and almost crazy looking smile. Kanna ran towards her mother and grabbed her arm to make her stop but Kanna was to weak.
"Mother don't!" Kanna pleaded one more, tears streaming down her face.
-Bang!-
Kanna froze as her mothers blood splattered across her face.
-Thud.-
Her mothers body fell to the ground and Kanna dropped to her knees, "mother," she whispered and let out a chilling scream.

Kanna jolted awake breathing heavily and she sat up running her hand through her hair.
"Haven't had that dream in a long time," she whispered, "Why am I having it now?"
She took a deep breath and stood up stumbling a bit in the process. She reached for her overalls and slipped it on, tying the arms around around her waiste, and left the room. Kanna was still shanking slightly because of the vivid dream as she approached Laws room and knocked three times. She was secretly hoping he wasn't in there.
No answer.
Kanna waited a second before opening the door and peaked through the small crack. He wasn't in there. Kanna let herself in and went to the bathroom, quickly closing the door behind her. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and chuckled. Her hair was all over the place, she usually covered her messy hair with her red hood. She frowned when she remembered, the hood was long gone now. Kanna quickly shook her head. There was no point getting upset about it. It was just a stupid hood after all.
She tugged at her stray hairs, "Is there a brush in here?" She asked looking around, "ah ha!"
Kanna picked up a yellow comb with Laws Jolly Roger printed on it like everything els he owns. She laughed at how stupid it was as she brushed her hair. Brushing her long hair wasn't an easy task, especially with a comb.
"I hope Traflogger doesn't mind," she mumbled.
While brushing her hair she failed to notice certain eyes watching her. Once she was done she placed the comb back were it was and ran her fingers through her hair. Satisfied with her hair she turned to leave almost running into Law.
"Bahh!!" She fell backwards and onto the hard metal floor holding her head, "You scared the crap out of me Traflogger!"
He held back his laughter, "Good morning, Kanna-ya and my name isn't Traflogger, its pronounced Traf-al-gar ." He corrected with a bit of irritation in his voice. He then held out his hand to help her up.
Kanna took his hand and he helped her up.
"Oh so I was saying it wrong." She smiled sheepishly placing a hand behind her head awkwardly.
He nods letting go of Kannas hand, "Now try saying it again."
"Trafuglar."
"Wrong."
"Tra-tra. Uh. Traulgar."
He narrows his eyes and furrows his brows before pinching the bridge of his noes.
"Forget it," He sighs, "Just call me Captain."
"Aye-aye Captain!" Kanna salutes and squeezes past him and out of the room, leaving him in the doorframe of the bathroom.
Kanna heads twards The kitchen after hearing her stomach growl, she was starving. Kanna entered the kitchen and walked up to the little window where the chef would serve them. Kanna poked her head into the window to see if anyone was in there and sure enough there was. He was a slightly chubby man who looked to be in his early 30s. He didn't wear a hat like the others but still had on the overalls everyone wore. He had short dark blue hair and soft black eyes.
"Hello." Kanna called out to him sweetly.
He jumped and looked at her confused for a second before smiling, "Hello there cutie. Your the new female member, right?"
She nods, "Names Kanna."
He gave her a charming smile. "I'm Dochi the chef, hungry?"
She nods.
"Whatcha want to eat?" He asked.
"Mhmm," Kanna tapped her finger on her chin, "An omelet sounds good."
"Alrighty comin' right up cutie."
"I'll have one two," Law called out from behind Kanna making her jump slightly.
"How many times do you plan on scaring me?" Kanna asked whipping around facing Law.
Law let's out a coft chuckle, "It seems your easily startled, Kanna-ya."
Law and Kanna sat in silence as they ate. There really wasn't anything to talk about and Kanna didn't really know how to talk to him. They were the only ones in the cafeteria because everyone els was still sleeping. Kanna hadn't realized how early it was till Law told told. Guess that dream woke her up to early. Kanna felt a small pain hit her chest when she thought about the dream. Quickly shaking the thought out of her head she glanced at Law. He had bags under his eyes, more darker then usual. Kanna wonder if he's even been to bed yet.
He looked at Kanna and raised an eyebrow, "What?"
Kanna quickly looked down at her omelet, "Nothing."
Law hummed, "Thinking about how handsome I am, again?"
Kannas head shot up to look at him, "Sais the one who was watching me in the bathroom like some sort of pervert. Were you thinking about how beautiful I am?"
"Yes." he simply replied taking another bite of his omelet with a small smirk playing across his face.
Kanna felt her face get hot and at a loss for words. She wasn't expecting him to answer like that, and because of that she was now completely speechless. So she just focused on her omelet. Kanna heard him chuckle before getting up to give Dochi his dish to clean.
"We should be arriving at the next island this afternoon. You can buy some item you need like perhaps.....a brush?" He teased her before leaving.
"Stupid Funny hat wearing man." Kanna growls quietly and stabs her omelet, face beet red now and completely forgetting the dream she had this morning.
