Chapter 10:-

"Holy. Mother. Of. Flying. Shit."

Kim words out everything I feel in one phrase. My eyes and mouth are perfectly shaped into big circles as the scene I saw a few minutes ago sinks in. It wasn't my eyes playing tricks on me since Kim also saw it. We just saw Hunter and Jake kiss. On the lips.

Yes, I knew my best friend was gay, but I never got the chance to witness him acting like one. Well I guess that’s been checked off of my 'things to see before I die' list. It was just so sudden. At first, it looked like a normal outing between old friends then bam. It was like seeing a fish walk on land.

I grab a hold of my shirt and squeeze it tightly as I try to sort out my feelings. Am I happy for him? I mean, Jake is quite attractive and they do look nice together; in a gay way. But when I saw them, I felt sick. I hope I'm not turning into a homophobic bastard. I, myself, don't even know why I felt like that.

"You think they're dating?" says Kim curiously as she looks at me slowly. She's obviously enjoying this, unlike me. "Yeah, I guess so." I croak, still looking straight at Hunter who was waving at someone in our direction. Wait.

Oh my god.

"He saw us! Hide!" shouts Kim as she plunges my head down along with her. My heart beats loudly as the suspense starts to build up. I wasn't planning on spying, so why the hell did I spy? Me and my stupid curiosity. I slap myself a couple of times to punish myself, looking like a complete maniac during the process.

"Um…Belle? Why are you hitting yourself?" I hear his voice emanate from above the table. I turn around to see two healthy, well toned legs in jeans and sneakers. "How'd he see us? Oh my god, do all gays have x-ray vision? We're all screwed!" whispers Kim as she gives me this frightened look.

"The table is glass Kim and work on your whispering skills. Now both of you, come out of there." Says Hunter amused. I stay in my fetal position as I stare at the ground. I wasn't ready to face him just yet. I'm not really mad, even though I should be. The fact that he kept his date with Jake a secret from Kim and me is one reason, while the other is still a mystery, even to me.

Kim crawls out loudly while whining about her knees. "I hate crawling and these were my new leggings!" I hear Hunter laugh lightly as he pulls her up to her feet. She pats her clothes violently until not even a single speck of dust is on her clothes.

"Going to come out anytime soon, my lady?" Hunter's head pops out under the table to face me. He smiles gently and reaches out to help me crawl out. I stare at him for a few minutes, settling down my contradicting feelings. Finally, I grab onto his hand, emerge out on all fours and quickly fill the space between Hunter and Kim.

"Thanks Hunter. I just want to say… that Kim made me do it!" I say exaggeratedly with my hands flying everywhere, trying to lighten the mood. "No fair! You were just as curious as I was!" retorts Kim half laughing. Hunter raises a brow as he looks at us with suspicious eyes.

"So, you guys were spying on me, ey?" says Hunter in a joking tone. "Oh please, don't flatter yourself Hunter. I just dropped my… lip gloss!" smiles Kim innocently as she tries desperately to prove our none existent innocence. "That explains why both of you crawled under a table to get it." answers Hunter, still amused by our lies.

Kim and I exchange glances and shake our heads, convincing each other that nothing's going to exonerate us. "Fine, we were nosy and we apologize." I say monotonously. Hunter nods his head with a look of satisfaction on his face while crossing his arms. I nudge his ribs lightheartedly and he laughs.

"But Hunter! I'm still curious about what happened between you and-" I quickly cut Kim off by plunging at her and covering her mouth with both of my hands. She struggles and tries to remove them but only muffled words escape her mouth. "Belle! You're going to suffocate Kim! You can let her go anytime now! She's turning blue!" says Hunter alarmingly.

"Yes, you're right! Kim you are turning blue so let's go to the toilet, shall we? Excuse us for a minute." I say simply and begin to drag Kim away to the toilet. I know I suck at making excuses but that one was one of the worst. I sigh to myself, thinking of ways to improve my excuse making.

We enter the wash room and I remove my hands from Kim's mouth. She immediately breathes in a rush of air as she gasps a few times. "Are you trying to kill me?!" says Kim with wide eyes. I'm glad no one's in here or else they'd think I'm a murderer or something.

"No, I… I just… Hunter was… and you…Jake…Screw my explanation skills." I bite my bottom lip in frustration. She can't ask him anything about the date. At least, not now. He didn't tell us about this meeting for a reason so we shouldn't interfere. No matter how interested we are.

I breathe in deeply for a few seconds. Then when I feel entirely calm, I start to explain why we cannot talk to Hunter about his little get together with Jake. "Wow Belly. You thought fast. Sure thing. My lips are completely sealed." She zips the imaginary zipper on her lips as she smiles at me reassuringly. "We'll just wait for him to tell us. Gosh, I'm so curious! Aren't you?" she asks anxiously.

Am I? I wasn't quite sure of that. A part of me was strangely afraid of knowing the relationship status between the two boys while another part of me was dying to know. Why was I so indecisive about this? "Hmm maybe. Anyway let's go back! Hunter must be surrounded by girls right about now, and some guys." I joke as we both exit the wash room.

We fast-walk to our table and find Hunter sitting quietly while sipping on a new cup of mocha latte. He notices us, smiles tenderly and waves. I smile back involuntarily; he has that effect on people, though he doesn't know it.

I continue to walk towards him until the sudden vibration in my left pocket makes me jolt, compelling me to stop abruptly. Kim, who was walking right behind me, bumps into me roughly since she didn't notice my sudden stop. "Belly! You scared me!" I look back at her and apologize.

Hunter walks towards us with the drink in hand, sipping it joyfully. "What's wrong?" he asks curiously. I shrug and raise my left hand apologetically as I try to pull my mobile out of my pocket. "Sorry guys. I think I got a phone call…no, I got a text. From…Chloe?" I look at my screen in disbelief while Kim and Hunter both snarl.

What could she possibly want from me? I just gave her my number a few hours ago. I pray to god that it isn't her blackmailing me about how she kidnapped my parents, like in the movies. "Did you read the text?" says Hunter calmly. I shake my head slowly. "Well? What are you waiting for! Open it! Open it!" shouts Kim excitedly.

I open the text and read its content:-

Hey Belle! Wana go out this Fri.? :) <3

My eyeballs almost fall out of their sockets. I could just imagine them rolling around on the floor. Is she serious? I go back to my inbox to make sure it isn't a different person. It isn't. I look up to meet the gaze of my two best friends who both seemed rather eager to read the text.

I hand my mobile over to Kim and she looks at it intently. She reacts the same way I did when I read the message. Eyeballs everywhere, I say. "Is she serious?" she says quietly. I laugh as I realize she has the same exact reaction as me. She passes the mobile to Hunter next and he reads the text swiftly.

He holds out the mobile and I grab onto it to get it back. He doesn't let go. "Are you going?" he looks at me fixedly with an unreadable expression. Darn his poker face. I look into his mesmerizing blue eyes and almost lose myself until I hear Kim clear her throat.

I had no reason not to go since I actually am free on Friday but the question is 'do I want to go'. I could hear my conscience screaming and begging me not to meet her while my heart stated the opposite.

No Belle. Don't go. It's dangerous.

You don't know her so you shouldn't judge her. Go and find out for yourself about her true nature.

I should really stop talking to my body organs.

I stare at my mobile screen for a few seconds. Despite my inner argument with myself I make a decision. It's not the smartest decision in the world but it's still a decision. Ok, it's a very stupid decision.

I text her back.

Hey Chloe. Sure I'm free this Friday. Send me the details later. Bye.

No Belle. Don't go. It's dangerous.
