he was sat in the kitchen that morning
sipping on the leftover tea his mother left him from her jug.
and while he did this, she had her eyes pinned to the small television box that sat on the bench top, the news reporter stating a lunar eclipse.
"won't that be exciting, gus?"
he switched glances between her and the television, biting on his lower lip and his mind wondered.
"sounds cool."
(but he'd rather watch how the stars twinkle because that sort of thing is better, in his opinion).
his eyes trailed across her face and latched onto the freckles that lightly dispersed the bridge of her nose and cheeks.
this had delighted him. the way they all connected and formed patterns even though they were speckled all over, with no definite lines.
he imagined that would how the stars would be. everywhere but all compacted to make something magnificent.
and in that minuscule of a moment, he decided that if he needed to occupy himself at any given time, he would watch the freckles on his mother's face dance and this is why it delighted him.
the stars lived everywhere, not only at night.
they could be found within the smallest details or the most common entities.
