There was a village called maitaura, mallam tanko and his two daughters lived their happily .he was a farmer who depended on his farm for their living. Talatu was his first daughter at the age of 18 then Mari the younger one at the age of 15. She was young but still she contributed to her effort. It was in the morning when mari heard some noise from outside,so she ran quickly to see what was happening. Mari was shocked and speechless as she ran back home with tears. Mallam tanko was busy with his newspapers when he heard Mari's voice "papa,papa,papa oil" mallam tanko tried to cool her dawn to understand what she was trying to say,Mari in fear told him that oil had spilled all over their land. At that spot mallam tanko had a stroke and died instantly. Other villagers lost their lifes and some where admitted to the nearest hospitals.
As a result of that, many people migrated to the nearest cities to earn their living,some became gatemen,nannies, cobblers and housemaids.
Talatu had to take care of her younger sister so she engaged her self in buying of used cloth(gwanjo) from other villages and sell them to another village to take care of her self and her younger sister.
