~Personal life~

1)  What month were you born in?

September.

2) What is your favorite colour?

Hmm…I’d have to say indigo, since I love both blue and purple.

3) If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?

London! I love England. I’ve been to London once, and it was amazing. Can’t wait to go back.

4) If you could meet any writer, who would it be? [Professionals who have their books published i.e J.K Rowling]

So many I don’t even know where to start. Justin Somber (Vampirates), Cassandra Clare (The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments), Stuart Hill (The Icemark Series)…pretty much everyone whose books have had any sort of impact on who I am.

5) What nationality are you? [Optional]

American…though I’m pretty sure in some past life or future I was/am meant to be either British, Irish, or Japanese.

6) What are your top ten random things about you?

1. I have synesthesia. Everything has a color, to me. Personalities, books, music, ect. Also, my words have weight—literal weight. ‘Flood’ is much heavier than ‘gym’.

2. I love to skateboard…even though I haven’t gone boarding in about a year. I’ll probably get hurt really badly once I skate again, because:

3. I’m pretty clumsy. I fall everywhere, drop things, walk into glass doors, walk into solid walls, etc. You name it, I’ve probably face planted because of it.

4. I love to read. Like, LOVE, as in obsessed. One time my mom yelled at me to stop reading and go watch TV.

5. I’m really good at shooting hair ties. I have almost perfect aim, 9 times out of 10. I always use one certain brand, because they don’t hurt too badly when I shoot my friends and they never break.

6. I love music. It’s always playing in my head, even when I don’t have ear buds in my ears or music videos playing on my computer. I love to sing, and I’m in a band. Practice is the best part of my week, hands down.

7. Sometimes I wake up really early on weekends. Just naturally, I find I can’t sleep anymore at around 4, 5, or 6 a.m. on some days. When this happens, I make myself breakfast, make breakfast for the rest of my family, and go watch TV until someone wakes up.

8. I love little kids (In a non-pedophiliac way). Everywhere I go, I always make little friends. More than one parent has declared their love for me, and I can’t wait to babysit next year. I’ll also be a counselor in training at my camp this summer. You’ve never known adrenaline until you feel as excited as I am for this.

9. My grandfather was my favorite person in the world, before he died. He was funny, smart, mischievous, funny, kind, compassionate, funny, and did I mention funny? I truly believe he is one of the greatest humans to ever have lived, and I take pride from nothing as much as I do from being his youngest grandchild.

10. I am a crazy, insane, wild person. At times, like while I write this, I can be very mature and professional (in fact, sometimes people online have assumed I was more than 18, when I’m actually 13). At other times, though—watch out! I get very hyper, and often very, very loud. I get crazy ideas and do crazy things, but hey, that’s why I have friends that are crazy, too.

~About your writing life~

1) At what age do you think writing started to appeal you?

Actually, probably around kindergarten (age 5). My sister and I had a game where we would take turns making up stories. I liked one of my stories so much that I made my mom type it up for me. It was about a puppy who’s the only one in his family that doesn’t have a special power, until he finally gets the courage to show his talent (changing his spots) to his family. We printed copies and gave them out to our family and friends. I felt more popular than Dr. Seuss.

2) What made you want to start writing?

The ideas. I’ve always been an imaginative person, and unique stories and characters come easily to me. Also, books fascinate me. I get utterly sucked into well-written novels. I want the power to give others emotions, the way other authors have to me.

3) What are you favorite genres to write? Why?

I like to write mostly fantasy and romance. Fantasy, because anything is possible in fantasy. Nothing is too farfetched. Romance, because I’m actually a hopeless romantic, and my dreams of what I wish would happen to me work their ways into my stories.

4) What is your main goal you want to achieve on Wattpad? How do you plan to accomplish it?

I want people to know, and see, who I am and how I think. Originally, I had an account of the same username on Quizilla, but the system here is much more effective. I know I’m a good writer. Years of teachers fawning over me and perfect scores on standardized tests have shown me that. I want to express my ideas, and how I view the world, through one of my favorite mediums; writing. I want to show the imaginative dreamer underneath the rather Hermione-Granger-like exterior. The plan? Simply to get as many people to read my works as possible. After all, that is why I’m doing this interview in the first place. J

5) Is writing a vital [important] part of your life? If so how?

Yes, definitely. I get spontaneous ideas, which I write down. In times of strong emotions, I write how I feel. I write how I wish I’d done things, or things I wish would happen to me. Writing is my strongest attribute.

6) How does writing influence your life? If it does, what role does it play in it?

Writing is my biggest strength, I can do anything; make anything happen when I write. Writing gives me the power to control, when so often in my life I’m just barely hanging on. Writing is the sail on my boat of life; it keeps me going.

7) What is your guilty pleasure in writing?  {Optional}  [i.e. R-rated etc.]

I confess; I write when I’m lustful. I know, I’m young, but many people seem to forget that my age is when puberty is happening…aka a hell of a lot of hormones. When I’m turned on, or feel really, really strong attraction, I write it down. It helps calm me down, especially when I want to do nothing more than grab one of my guy friends and kiss them until I pass out. Even for a teen, I’m heavy on the hormones, and although I never let anyone see it, I contain myself with writing.

8) Where do you write your stories? And when is your best time to do so?

Anywhere, anytime. I usually have paper of some sort with me, so that whenever I get an idea I can write it down. If I don’t, I can usually keep the idea in my mind until I get to paper or my computer. The best time is as soon as I think it up, because to me one of the worst feelings in the world is when you had a life-changing story idea, and you forgot it because you waited too long.

Your reading rituals

1) What is your favorite type of stories to read? [Genres]

Most types. My two favorites of all are fantasy and realistic fiction. Historical fiction, however, is not one of my strong genres. And don’t even get me started on non-fiction; I can’t stand it. I read from pretty much every other genre, other than those.

2) When do you normally read? And also, where do you read? [i.e. mobile sites {iPod, Samsung etc.}, or internet sites]

Usually I read whenever I can get the time. I’ve been known to read when I’m supposed to be sleeping, to read in the bathroom, to read when I’ve just come out of the shower and should be putting on clothing, and even (this is one of my mom’s biggest pet peeves)to read the books I just took out from the library on the car ride home from the library. (*le gasp*)My biggest frustration is that my mom won’t let me read while I eat.

3) Who are your top 5 favorite authors on Wattpad? [You can exceed 5 if needed]

I don’t really have any favorites yet. I only joined Wattpad about a week ago. I’ve already read many fantastic stories, but I’ve mostly skipped around; I don’t like any certain authors in particular yet, except for one: ella_enchanted. She’s a very talented writer.

4) Who’s writing inspires you? [Both professional and Wattpaders.]

I’m inspired by my favorite writers; Justin Somper, Cassandra Clare…basically anyone, professional or not, who creates an amazing, believable world , or something I’ve never heard of before, inspires me to think bigger and better.

5) What are your 5 favorite books on Wattpad? [Only 5 this time ;D]

Again, I don’t really have many favorites yet, but I do love ‘The Ivy League’ and ‘Their Paid Girl’ by ella_enchanted,  ‘My Dream Boy boyxboy’ by Poptartisdelicious, and ‘A Touch of Posion’ by ironkite.

Bonus/Extra questions!

1) Who are your closest friends on Wattpad? [Optional]

I don’t really have any friends yet on Wattpad, but I hope I’ll make some soon, especially since I’ve already met a few very interesting people.

2) What is your favorite catch phrase/ thing to say?

Cheese. Randomly, at any time, I’m known to just blurt out “cheese” at the top of my lungs. Awkward silences, not knowing what to say, you could name any situation and I have brought cheese into it.

3) If you could wish for anything, what would it be?

I don’t like this type of question. Not because I think it’s stupid or anything, but because I can never decide. I want so many different things, and I change from time to time, so I really don’t have much of a definitive answer.

4) What is your lucky number, animal, letter, or even day?

Number: 8; Animal: Hawk/Falcon/Wolf; Day: Tuesday

5) What books would you recommend to others?

So many! The Vampirates series, ‘Five Flavors of Dumb’, ‘Where I’d like to be’, The Infernal Devices series, The Mortal Instruments series, ‘Tangerine’, The Icemark series, The Peter and the Starcatchers series…so many more! I’ve read hundreds of books and have so many favorites I can’t even remember what half of them are called anymore.

6) Last question of the interview, What are all your stories on your profile? Give a brief description of each. [Optional] {5-10 sentences} [Give as many of your stories as you want]

So far, I only have one story on my profile. It’s called ‘The Goth Club’. The main character, Lyra, is a high school freshman who’s become bored with school. One day she decides to form the Goth Club, which starts out as a collection of misfits from the dark side and slowly turns into something more. Teenage drama, unexpected twists and a near-deadly cat make freshman year into a time Lyra and her friends will never forget. I’m working hard on this story and I hope you enjoy it!

I know I don’t need to write here, but I take my hat off to you, Ms. Hotstuff, for allowing me to participate in this interview. Thanks so much!
