I had a normal enough childhood. I felt safe and happy.I was a sister not a mum. Then when i was 12 mum and dad split up. Tommy chose to live with dad and Becky wanted to live with mum. I chose to live with dad so I could keep an eye on Tommy cause he was the youngest but I still lived at mums at the weekend. Things were fine to start with. Then dad began drinking and he became violent. He drank more everyday and became more and more violent. He forgot about me and Tommy so I started looking after myself and him. I took him to school before taking myself. I bunked my last lesson in order to pick him up in the afternoon. After a few weeks I couldnt keep up with the rest of my classes so I dropped out of school.
During the day I earnt money anyway I could. I sold things, including myself for any price.I hated leaving Tommy at the weekends but we had agreed not to tell mum anything about what was going on.
Two months later scars, cuts and bruises adorned my skin.I constantly wore jumpers and jeans to hide the marks.It was a weekend and I walked into the room that I shared with Becky when I stayed here.She was sitting on the bed and she looked up when I walked in. She grabbed my arm and rolled up the sleeve of my jumper to reveal a hand shaped mark.
"You cant stay there," Becky said
"Tommy wants to and I wont leave him!"
"please tell mum, amy.She will fix this,"my sister begged.
"I cant Beck,you know why. It would crush her if she knew.Im fine honestly, it dosent matter."
I turned the light off and went to bed.
