"I need a date, Lav!" Parvati moaned to her friend as they were about to enter the Gryffindor Common Room.
"And you will find one, Ti!" Lavender soothed,
Parvati stopped in front of the Fat Lady who regarded the pair with an interested stare. "That is easy for you to say! You already have a date! And you gave a date with someone you like!"
Lavender rolled her brown eyes and said to the Fat Lady "Mar Cypriot." And the portrait swung open, revealing the Gryffindor Common which was lit up by a warm glow from the setting sun. "You'll find someone." The brunette consoled.
"Why can't I go with someone I like?" Parvati moaned.
Just as Parvati finished her complaint another voice began. "Parvati!" The latter looked around to see a boy with black hair, bright green eyes, a lack of height and most prominent, a lightening bolt scar on his forehead. "Will you go to the ball with me?"
Parvati and Lavender exchanged a glance before bursting into a fit of giggles.
Harry put his hands behind his back as he waited for the girls to control their laughter.
"Yes, alright then." Said Parvati finally, blushing furiously.
Harry then turned to Lavender "And would you go with Ron?"
"She's going with Seamus," Parvati interjected before Lavender could reply, earning a glare from her friend.
"Well do you know someone who will go with Ron?"
Parvati thought for a moment, attempting to keep her excitement at bay.
"Well, there is my sister... Padma, in Ravenclaw... I could ask her if you like." She smiled widely at the boy who looked relieved.
"Thanks, Parvati." He said before hurrying off.
Parvati grabbed Lavender's hand, their skin colours contrasting. When they reached their deserted dormitory Parvati turned to her friend. "Oh my god!!" She squealed.
"He asked you!" Lavender matched her friend's pitch, her face suddenly fell and she punched her friend's arm. "Why are you so lucky?" She punched her friend's arm again.
"Don't punch me!" Parvati complained, trying to keep back her smile. "And may I how am I lucky?" She pretended not to know what her friend was about to say.
Lavender stared at her lane cause you are about to go to the Yule Ball, the most romantic thing that has ever happened in our time here, with Harry freaking Potter!" She explained.
"I know! I'm the luckiest girl alive!" Parvati squealed and began to dance around the room, her friend watching her with a small smile. Parvati twirled past her friend and grabbed the girl's hand, pulling her into the dance.
"Let me go you goof!" Lavender giggled and Parvati laughed, letting go of the pale girl. She dived onto her four-poster bed and say up, looking over at Lav.
"This would be the point in a musical where I would spontaneously burst into song!" Parvati squealed.
"No! Don't do it!" Lavender groaned, backing away, knowing what was about to come.
"I can't stop this feeling," Parvati sang,
"Oh dear god someone stops her!" Lavender said to no one.
"Deep inside of me, girl you gotta realise. That he's going with me." Parvati said, picking up her wand and using it as a microphone. Lavender groaned as her friend created a parody of a muggle song 'Hooked On a Feeling' on the spot.
"Parvati stop singing!"
"All the good lords, when we're are all alone. I'll keep it up, girl, yeah I'll turn him on."
"Parvati Patil!" Lavender cried, trying to contain her laughter.
"Oh Iiieeiiiiieii," Parvati thumped her mattress twice "I AM HOOKED ON A FEELING! I'M HIGH ON BELIEVING, THAT HE'LL BE IN LIVE WITH ME!" She shouted before her friend tackled her, a hand clapping over the girl's mouth, stopping the song.
"If he knew you were like this I bet he wouldn't go with you." Lavender giggled.
"You're just jealous," Parvati mumbled, her words muffled by Lavender's hand.
"I am not- EW!" Lavender drew back her hand quickly "You frigging licked me!"
Parvati smiled slyly at her, "You shouldn't have put your hand over my mouth."
Lavender looked disgusted, "but you LICKED me!"
"And you tried to suffocate me, it was self-defence." The girl said in a dignified voice.
"I wasn't trying to suffocate- you know, I'll be the grown up. You are very lucky to go with Harry Potter. Especially since you have a crush on him. Didn't I tell you you'd get an invitation?"
"Yes but I never imagined Harry Potter would ask me, I thought loads of girls would want to go with him. Why does he want to go with me?" The girl suddenly sat up and turned to her friend with wide eyes "What if he likes me?" She asked in a shocked whisper.
Lavender didn't reply but she wondered inside her head whether Harry Potter truly understood what he had done by asking Parvati to the ball. She was probably his last resort and he would never have realised how girls always jumped to conclusions, especially involving a crush.
