Maddie's POV
"Only fools fall in love."
That was a quote I dwelled on for the past... 12 years of my life. I always said I'd never fall in love.
Well, now I'm giving it all I've got.
"Maddie! Don't!" Juliette yelled.
"See you in heaven guys! Maybe except for Raylise!" I shouted, and I have this overwhelming feeling that... gave me all the strength I needed.
"I'm coming!" I yelled down the waterfall, performing a swan dive.
If I was gonna die, at least I was gonna die in the waters of this beautiful waterfall.
"Maddie!!!!!!!!!!" Juliette yelled.
I felt a mixture of water and wind whipping my face.
Nick's POV
I fell back tumbling down into the waterfall. Wind and water whipping my face leaving it stinging. My only thought was goodbye Maddie. I was falling for ages. Well that was before I performed a perfect dive into the glimmering water. It was a greeny-blue you know the magical kind of greeny-blue?
My eyes were wide open. This must have been fresh water because it didn't sting at all. I continued to sink lower and lower in the water. I struggled to reach the surface. But the more I struggled the faster I was being pulled down. I was running out of air, soon I would need to breath. The lower I sunk in the water the darker it got.
Finally I ran out of breath and had no choice but to inhale the water. I closed my eyes and prepared for the closing of my lungs. I took a breath. Nothing happened. I took another breath. Still nothing happened. It was as if I was breathing the normal oxygen. What the hell? Shouldn't I be drowning by now? Maybe I am, and this is all a hallucination. I thought of Maddie. Her brown eyes looked back at me.
I needed to get back to her. I felt a strong need to get out of this waterfall and back up to land where my Maddie was waiting. All of sudden the water started swirling around me. Faster and faster. Soon I started rising. The waters speed increased the more I rised. I looked up and soon reached the surface. The water swirled around carrying me higher and higher until I was riding the water out of the waterfall.
I could see the edge of the waterfall. Then Maddie came into my view. She jumped off the edge of the waterfall. What the hell is she doing?!?! On instinct I reached out. Some of the water that was powering my rise split off. It swirled together and formed a large hand. Maddie fell into the hand. THe hand approached my and I pulled Maddie out of it and held her against me protectively.
"How.... how.... how..." She kept whispering. Must be shock. But she has a point. How is the water helping me? How did it know to save Maddie? It wasn't me, was it? I shook my head. I'll ponder this later. Preferably when Maddie is on safe flat land!
Not long after that I reached the edge of the cliff. Kaylee, Derek, Juliette, Raylise, Preston and Nate were all standing there dumbfounded by my arrival. Haha way to make an entrance Nick. I congradulated myself mentally.
I stepped off the water pulling Maddie along with me. She followed like a rag doll in my arms.
"Maddie? Are you ok?" I asked her worridly. She looked at me blankly.
"Am I ok?" she whispered. "Am I ok?!?!" her volume got louder. "AM I OK!!?!?!?!" She yelled furiously. "YOU ALMOST DIED NICK!!!!!!!!!!! DO YOU HEAR ME? ALMOST DIED!!! AND YOUR ASKING ME IF I'M ALRIGHT!?!?! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FRIGGIN MIND!!" She exploded.
"No?" I answered. Am I out of my mind?
"No, no! NO?!?!" she repeated. "What do you mean no! Of course your out of your mind!!! You just rode a tornado of water for crying out loud!!!!!" She answered. Raylise, Kaylee and Juliette snickered. Urgh I'm gonna get them! They think this is funny? I don't think so! I'd like to see what they would do in my situation!!
"Umm how does that make me out of my mind?" I asked. I really didn't get her point. She opened her mouth, then seemed to think about it until she shrugged resigned.
"Good point." was all she said. Seriously?! She yells her head off at me and then all shes says is good point!!! Urgh!!!! What is with girls!? Theres so damn confusing!!!!!! I could feel the annoyance and anger building up in me. Apparantly Kaylee could feel it too because she shot me a nervous glance and soon I felt a calming sensation flow throughout me. I took a deep breath.
"Ok so which one of you made the water help me?" I asked since they were the ones with powers, not me. Ironic right? I'm the one whos been a vampire for the longest and THEY are the ones who get the powers. I feel so left out right now. They shrugged in answer to my question. What??
"It wasn't me," said Derek.
"Not me," answered Juliette
"I didn't do anything..." Said Nate
"Me either." agreed Kaylee
"uhhh.... yeah not me." Said Raylise.
"Don't look at me I didn't do anything!" Said Preston. What a stupid guy, I wasn't even looking at him, I was looking at Maddie.
"Can't be me. I was busy jumping off the waterfall." Muttered Maddie. True.
"But then if it wasn't you guys...... Then who was it?" I asked confused.
"You??" Suggested Kaylee.
"Me? How could it be me?" I asked. I didn't get that slimy thing that they got that caused them the powers... So how could it be me?
"Dunno, but it couldn't hurt to try right?" Said Juliette. Ok that sounded so wrong on so many levels. If you don't get it, I'm sorry but you're not sick minded enough.
I shrugged. I stuck my hand out to the water. I closed my eyes and imagined it rising as it did before. There was a whooshing sound and I opened my eyes. The water was swirling around as before. It looked like a tornado except with water. Maddie was right with her description. I imagined it slowly returning to the bottom of the water fall. The water incresed in it's height. It became a thin rope of water and slowly slunk back into the water. We all stood watching in awe.
"Woah dude, awesome!" said Preston. He was right. It was awesome!
"WOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I yelled waving my arms above my head, probably looking like a lunatic on the loose, but that was beside the point. I have a power!! And it's way better then theirs!!!!!
"I heard that thought!" said Kaylee warningly. Oops apparantly she can read minds as well. I gotta be careful of her.
"Yes, yes you should." she replied. smirking at me. Gah!! Stop it! The rest of the guys were looking at us like we were maniacs. Eh who cares?
"I could beat you anytime Kay," I answered. She smiled.
"You wanna bet?" she asked.
"Bring it!" I said doing the come-and-get-me gesture. She shrugged and smiled.
"Ok, if I win you have to do whatever I say." she smirked daringly.
"Fine. And if I win, you have to ..." Make Maddie like me. I finshed in my head. She smirked and said,
"Deal." We backed up and the others ran like a tsunami was coming. Well I guess it could now that I control water. Kaylee stood several metres away from me. She didn't look like she was about to run. She didn't look like she was gonna do anything. Ok weird way to prepare for battle but hey, it's her choice it's just my destiny to win. I heard her laughing.
"Your destiny to win?" she mocked laughing even harder. I saw Raylise looking at Kaylee and then she too started laughing.
Raylise's POV
Well, well, well Nicky has finally got his powers. And he clearly let it go to his head. Because now he's facing Kaylee in a "battle" I put air quotes around that word because I know he's going to lose. He's pretty stupid for challenging Kay. Espeacially when she controls his actions and reads his thought. Like I said stupid. You know this might be an excellent opportunity to gain something.
"Yo Preston! You wanna bet?" I asked. He was most likely to say yes. He loves a challenge. BOys are so easy. I laughed mentally. Ahh easy winnings.
"Yep." he answered.
"If Kaylee wins then you...." I trailed off trying to come up with something.
"I?" he asked smirking.
"You have to sleep outside the tent." I said. Yeah I know that kinda mean but I couldn't come up with anything else OK? Stop harrasing me. he chuckled.
"Ok and when Nick wins then you have to give me half of all your food." WHAT?? oh HELL no!!! I'm gonna die!!! Isn't he fat enough already?! Plus we wouldn't want to feed that ego of his would we? But all goods because Nick's not gonna win.
"Bring it on." I said. We shook hands. I turned to watch the battle begin. Kay was just standing there she looked like this was quite boring. Like waiting for an infant to realise no ones paying attention to their tantrum. Nick raised his hand, pointing at Kaylee. The water rose up and rushed towards her in a fist shape. Just seconds before it reached her it was suddenly heading back at Nick. He dove out of the way just in time. I heard him growl before he was back on his feet. His eyes were glowing a greeny-blue, or emerald you could say.
The water whirled around him and formed a shield of water while the rest formed two hands that raced at Kaylee. They circled her. They enclosed on her. For a split second I was actually nervous that Kaylee was gonna lose. That was until the hands melted into nothing. They fell down like someone threw a bucket of water at Kaylee and missed their target.
Nick was getting more and more frustrated. Kaylee smirked. She was obviously enjoying this moment of victory. Nick prepared another two arms of water. Before he could even send them at Kaylee they were wrapping themselves around him until at last he stood engulfed in water unable to move as Kaylee calmly strode up to him.
"Ahh so your the new personal assisstant, to put it politely." she said offering her hand to help him up as the water melted away. He ignored her hand and got to his feet. He straightened his back indignantly and stormed off. I thought that was a girls thing. I smirked. Looking at Preston pointedly I said,
"Have fun sleeping outside tonight." I said smiling innocently. He glared at me. Oh well. Can't always have what you want, now can you?
