Rebecca Frost was screwed to say the least. The young girl had a group project after school and finished it once the sun was setting, meaning she was running late. Her father had told her to be home before sun down and to respect her father's wish that meant she had to take a shortcut through the woods. The brunette had entered the woods only once before and that was to take a photo of some trees for her freshmen photography class.

Growing up in Beacon Hills, Rebecca Frost was a quiet, soft-spoken girl. She followed the rules and always listened to her parents, which had her labeled as a 'square'. Though, it really did not bother her because she was just trying to make it through high school. Once graduating, she planned to move away travel. However, it would be helpful to have a sense of direction in her case. Maybe then she wouldn't be lost in the middle of the reserve, walking in circles with the thick trees confusing her.

Sighing, Rebecca took off her backpack and went to pull out her compass. She went through her bag for a few minutes before she realized it was gone. The brunette groaned, wondering if she was forever stuck in the thicket.

"Looking for this?" A voice asked, making Rebecca's snap in the direction of where a boy stood. Jet black hair with eyes a sky blue, both contrasting each other but in a way that had the girl in awe. Peter Hale was the talk of Beacon Hills High School. He was a year ahead of Rebecca but nonetheless the sophomore before her had many boys envious as girls fawned over him in every grade.

Peter smirked, knowing how predictable her reaction was. Opening his hand as he let the small compass dangle. Eyes widening as she seen the missing item of hers in the hand of the teen who was leaning on a tree with a smug expression.

"Yes," Rebecca began, her voice very soft and timid in front of the boy who made her feel as small as an ant, "I thought I lost it."

"Well, if it wasn't for me it would be lying in some leaves to never be found again. Thankfully, I seen you drop it and decide to follow you to make sure you wouldn't get lost." Furrowing her eyebrows, Rebecca gave Peter a confused gaze.

"I've been lost for maybe twenty minutes and you're deciding to return it to me now?" Rebecca questioned, wanting to know he stayed hidden until now. Was this a game to him? Was it amusing to see a girl lost in the woods?

"It appears so." Peter acknowledged, walking towards the petite brunette. "It was funny to see the many emotions that appeared on your face: fear, anger, frustration."

"You're very sadistic." Rebecca blurted out, not registering what she said until it was out in the open. Her cheeks began to tint as she quickly looked away from the teen's gaze. What happened next was something that Rebecca would not have expected. A loud laugh sputtered out of Peter's lips, tears wanting to slip out.

"I like you." Peter stated as he regained his posture and stopped in front of the brunette he towered over. "You say what you think."

Rebecca didn't have the chance to respond as Peter walked away. Confused as his actions, the small brunette asked, "Where are you going?"

His striking blue eyes turned and met her brown ones. "You're planning on going home, right? I'm going to assume that you are and recommend that you follow me."

Not questioning him, Rebecca followed Peter as she trailed behind him. Silence engulfed the two as the only sound that was made was the cracking of the fallen leaves under their feet as they walked. Rebecca admired the sight of the shaggy black hair teen who led her back home. Within minutes, the endless scene of trees and shrubs ended and introduced the sight of homes.

"Thank you." Rebecca smiled, turning to Peter who was staring intently at her. He didn't say anything until Rebecca felt like she had to say something. "And can I have my compass back?"

Smirking, Peter took out the silver trinket and inspected it. "I'm going to take this as payment for walking you out of the reserve."

Rebecca didn't have the time to argue, the sun was slowly disappearing behind the hills and she needed to be home soon. Giving him an awkward wave, the only Frost child left. Peter watched her until she was out of his sight. He was fascinated with her and whatever Peter Hale found fascinating, he ended up having to himself.

The next day, Rebecca couldn't believe the sight that greeted her when she entered school. Peter was leaning next to her locker, her shiny compass now on a chain that hung on his neck. Wearing it as a trophy that he was very proud of. Many students had stopped and stared, wondering how Rebecca Frost had gotten the attention of Peter Hale.

The stares didn't stop either, everyday Peter waited for Rebecca by her locker until the day Peter graduated. By then the two were dating and Rebecca had seen the side of Peter that many people didn't. The man who showed kindness and shared the deepest secrets with her. Though, she felt that he was still keeping something from her and Rebecca didn't know what.

That was until the night before she was going to graduate that Peter called her on her landline, asking her to meet him in the woods. Rebecca already knew where, he had made her memorize the place where he had carved their names in a tree. Quickly grabbing her coat, Rebecca slipped out of her home and jogged to the reserve. It only took her ten minutes to find Peter, who was nervously playing with his fingers. That was something that he rarely did, signaling that their talk was something of huge importance.

"Peter?"

That had gained the attention of the man that Rebecca was sure she was in love with. Sure, the two had only dated for a little over three years but the Frost girl never dated anyone. Peter was her first everything: kiss, date, and she was pretty sure her first love.

"I want to tell you something, Bec." Peter started nervously, grabbing her hands into his. "And you're the first one that isn't in my family that I'm going to tell. I need you to promise me that you won't freak out."

"I promise, Peter." Rebecca smiled, giving Peter's hand a reassuring squeeze. Lowering his head, Rebecca wasn't sure what to expect until she felt the smallest prick in her hand. Looking down at her hands in Peter's, she noticed claws replacing fingernails. Puzzled, Rebecca noticed how Peter's head was still lowered. Taking her hands out of his, she placed them on his face and tilted his face up.

Replacing the smooth skin was patches of hair that seemed to appear out of nowhere, the straight teeth were now canines and the blue eyes she fell for were now an amber yellow. Peter expected the worst, to see the sight of the girl he grown attached to scream bloody murder and run but she stayed.

"Is this all you needed to show me?" Rebecca asked, breathless from the amazement that was the entirety of Peter Hale.

"You aren't scared?"

"Why would I be? You taught me something that I thought was overrated. I love you, Peter. Werewolf or human."

"You love me?" Peter questioned, completely blown away from her statement. Though it was obvious to everyone around them, neither of them had dared to utter the three words to one another. Talia asked Peter if he loved the girl he sometimes brought around, though being the stubborn person he is, he refused to admit it. Though, Talia thought otherwise, the girl with the light complexion and wide brown eyes had captured her brother's cold heart and hopefully she was enough to help him get rid of the hatred he carried.

"Why wouldn't I?" And those very words had confirmed everything for Peter Hale. The lost girl he had met in the woods had become his light in the world he saw nothing but darkness in.

Pulling her close to him, Peter felt his appearance change back as he pressed his face into her hair. The familiar scent of coconut and lime has become something that calmed him. Mumbling in her hair, Peter confirmed something to the both of them right there. Something that had Peter ensure the brunette in his arms would stay in his life until death do them part.

"I love you, Rebecca Frost."

"Jack! Don't take off your diaper." Rebecca scolded her one year old son who was trying to remove the diaper she had barely put on him. Giggling, Jack hobbled away from his mother and bumped into the leg of his father. Falling back on his butt, Jack began to sputter what Rebecca believed to be words.

"Thank God you're back." Rebecca sighed, standing from the floor and walked to her husband. Shortly after graduation, Peter had proposed and earned an excited yes from Rebecca. Though, certain things couldn't wait until the wedding which resulted in Rebecca to be heavily pregnant in the photos that were taken. A month later, Jackson Eira Hale had been popped out filled the Hale house with joy. Until Talia gave birth to Cora, which gave Jack a friend.

"I'm guessing he didn't want to take a nap?" Peter spoke, reaching down to pick up his son and carry him on his hip.

"I don't even think he sleeps. I feel like he's always awake." Rebecca groaned as she pecked Peter's lips. "I just hope his sister is the opposite."

Rebecca was currently pregnant with their second child. Peter had hoped for another son but lucky for Rebecca, her wish had been granted when they learned it was a girl.

"And hopefully she has normal color hair." Peter muttered, giving a grin at his son. When Jack was born, there was speculation on the fact that he had white hair. Talia provided an answer that the werewolf gene had worked differently for Jack, his body denying the trait and just provided the difference in hair color.

"Leave him alone." Rebecca frowned, taking Jack from Peter's arms. "I think he looks cute."

"Of course he does, he looks like his father." Peter pointed out, relaxing on the bed the two shared.

"Way to be modest, Peter." Rebecca laid her son back in his crib and handed him a bottle, silently praying that he would nap finally. Sucking on the bottle, Jack's eyes met his mother's as they slowly closed. Rebecca felt happiness, knowing that she had a family. Unfortunately for her it would only last a few more months until her husband did something that caused her to leave him without a word.
