A/N: The image above is a drawing that my lovely & talented friend AuroraTheReader drew of Daisy. She's an incredibly talented artist & writer & I love her dearly. Thank you, cutie, for making Daisy a reality for me 💚

It was almost impossible to distinguish the stems & leaves of the meadow from the river of green hair that flowed & weaved into the flowers & dandelions sprouting from the ground below her. The grass & foilage was as bright as her naturally colored strands & it brought a wide grin onto her face. She was only sixteen, but she was already as beautiful & mature as a woman far ahead of her time. Her father would always joke that her maturity was genetic, a product of her mutation, since she could create & grow any plant she desired from the palm of her hand. She was her father's most precious flower, so she matured as quickly as the flowers she created.
When she found this meadow several years ago, it was as dead & barren as a desert & she made it her duty to fix it up & bring it back to life. It took her a long time, but it was excellent practice for her & her powers. She got a much better hold of her powers & a beautiful garden, so she was more than happy with the outcome of her hard work.
Although her bright hair matched the scenery, her clothes most definitely did not. Despite her bright & bubbly personality & mutation, Daisy always wore all black clothes & the occasional white shirt or colored cardigan. Since it takes every color in the color wheel to create the most perfect shade of charcoal black, her logic was that black was the most colorful of all the colors because you can't get any more colorful than having them all.
She smiled to herself as she brought a flower to her nostrils, giving the petals a gentle sniff. Her smile only got wider as the lovely scent of the flower flew up her nasal passages & encompassed all her senses. There was nothing she loved more than being surrounded by her "flower children", as she loved to so jokingly call. It brought her peace & happiness that not even her beloved father could. Ironically, there would be another male figure who would pop into Daisy's life & bring her happiness, too, maybe even moreso than her flowers.
She let her hand that held the flower softly land onto the ground beneath her, flexing her fingers & outstretching her palm so the roots could rise from the ground & reclaim their flower. Once the flower was back in its home, she gave the ground a soft pat before letting her hand rest on her stomach.
Peter had been playing with his younger sister in the park nearby, having a picnic with her & her mother. He would have entirely missed the beautiful meadow & girl laying idly in it, had Lorna not suggested to play hide-&-seek. Peter would come to thank her one day for that, although he didn't know it just yet.
Lorna was just as sneaky & cunning as her brother, so she hid under the slide in the sandbox. Peter; however, had thought she had wandered off farther & he ended up reaching the gorgeous garden by mistake.
If it hadn't been for her pitch black attire, he might not have noticed her at all, but because she dressed so darkly, she stuck out like a sore thumb in the lively garden. Thinking she might have been injured, he sped over to her, looking down at her for a moment with a raised eyebrow, "Are you okay?"
Daisy looked up at the intruder who was blocking her sunlight, nearly laughing at his concerned expression & flashed him an amused smile, "I'm doing absolutely wonderfully at the moment, actually," she gently turned over so that she was laying on her stomach, leaning her face into her palm that she balanced upwards on her elbow, "What brings you here, to my sanctuary?"
Peter was almost at a loss for words. Not only had he somehow stumbled upon probably the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, but she had a crazy & obvious hair color & a strange personality to match. He felt as if he had won the lottery, "I was looking for my little sister. We're playing hide-&-seek."
Daisy smirked up at him, "Well, you don't seem to be doing a very good job of seeking."
Peter narrowed his eyes accusingly, but on the inside, he was giddy. She was sassy too! Could she get any better? "Well, I found you, so I'd say I'm doing a pretty good job," he replied cheekily.
She grinned & Peter moved to sit in front of her, crossing his legs & completely crushing a good chunk of Daisy's flower bed, "Do you live around here? I don't recall ever seeing you around."
He nodded, "I've lived in this neighborhood my whole life. You probably just haven't noticed me."
"I think I would notice someone as cute as you," she said, mindlessy twirling a flower between her fingers.
Peter took in a sharp breath & bit his lip, not expecting her flirtatious response, "Well, I'm pretty fast, so I'm easy to miss," as she continued to spin the flower, Peter gave her a good look over. Her hair was disheveled from laying in the plants all afternoon, leaves & grass blades having woven into her bright green bush of hair. Her clothes were a bit wet from the dewy grass, but it was hard to tell from how black they were. Her skin was as pale as his, maybe even a bit moreso, & he wondered if maybe she didn't get outside much either & that was why she enjoyed spending her days rolling around in meadows.
"What's your name?" she asked, gently returning the flower into the ground. He watched in awe as it not only regrew into the soil, but several other new flowers sprouted around it.
He couldn't stop the silly smile that spread out like a garden onto his face, "Peter. What's yours?" She smiled & reached a hand out towards him. He froze, his cheeks blushing slightly as she reached behind his ear & pulled out a small, white flower, handing it to him with a wink. He looked down at the flower & smiled as he took it from her hands, smelling it gently, "Daisy?"
She grinned & nodded happily, "Glad to see you know your flowers."
He blushed softly, "I've helped my Ma with gardening a couple of times."
Her eyes lit up, "Really?"
He nodded, "Yeah! I really love them, actually, even when I accidentally trample them while I run."
She laughed a light, bubbly laugh & Peter wished he could just replay it over & over again, "It's a good thing flowers are genetically wired to regrow," he smiled at her & she smiled back.
It was quiet for a moment as Peter smelled the daisy she gave him, closing his eyes a bit in hopes of preserving the scent, "Flowers also have meanings, you know? They're very symbolic."
Peter opened his eyes & looked at her, "Really? What do daisies mean?"
"Well, in the Victorian Era, they were believed to have solar attributes, but for the most part, they're known for being symbolic of enchantment."
Peter smirked, "Huh, funny how you say that, considering I've just been enchanted by the most beautiful, green daisy I've ever seen."
She laughed again & Peter swore his heart started to beat a little faster, "You're quite flirtatious, maybe even moreso than all the snapdragons in this meadow."
He raised an eyebrow & looked at her curiously, "Are snapdragons symbolic for flirting?"
She laughed, "I think so! They're exotic & very eye-catching."
"Well, in that case..." he suddenly sped off, picking a small bouquet of flowers he believed to be snapdragons before returning to his original position in front of Daisy, "I'm definitely flirting with you," he extended the small bouquet towards her, but instead of taking them, she burst out laughing.
"Those aren't snapdragons, silly!" she looked around & gently picked a small cluster of snapdragons before showing them to Peter, "These are smapdragons. Those," she pointed to the flowers in his hands, "are orchids."
Peter flushed in embarrassment as she returned the snapdragons to their soil, "Oh...well, uh, what do orchids means?"
She turned back to him with a smile, "They're usually used to symbolize charm," she grinned, "which is actually quite fitting, because you're quite the charmer."
Peter broke out into a huge grin, handing her the flowers with a proud smirk, "Looks like I'm pretty good for a novice flower lover, don't ya think, Flower Girl?"
She grinned happily at the nickname, brushing a strand of hair behind her hair, "I do."
Peter wished he could have stayed with Daisy in her garden all day, but the sudden calling from his mother made him realize that desire would remain unfulfilled, "Peter! Let's go!"
He smiled sadly at Daisy, "That's my Ma," he thought he saw a flicker of disappointment in Daisy's eyes, but she was quick to hide it with a smile.
"It was really nice to meet you, Peter."
"Likewise," he gently stood up, watching her as she made the flowers he crushed when he sat down regrow & blossom, "Will I see you again?" he asked shyly, biting his lip.
She smiled up at him, "I'm sure you will," she bit her lip softly to hold back a laugh, "just follow the patches of sprouting flowers & I'm sure you'll find me at the end of the meadow," she winked & Peter practically swooned.
"I'll keep that in mind," she waved at him cutely & he waved back before speeding back over to the park.
His mother was nearly done packing up what was left of their picnic & Lorna was clapping excitedly, "You didn't find me! I win! I win!" she chanted, making Peter laugh.
"Yeah, you did," he sped over & picked her up, slinging her over his shoulders as she squealed in delight. Magda just smiled at her children.
The trio made their way home, the sun setting slowly behind them. When they passed the meadow, Peter couldn't resist peering through the trees, finding Daisy growing new orchids in the patches where he had picked them. When she was finished, she grabbed the small messenger bag she brought with her & Peter could have tore his face in two from the grin he grew when he saw her clutching the small bouquet of orchids he had picked for her to her chest, smelling them & smiling to herself.
You're quite the charmer.
