Blue POV
I sat in 5th period listening to the lecture our Geometry teacher was giving. I couldn't help but notice how August kept staring at me.
"What is you looking at?!" I whispered yelled.
"Not you." He turned his nose up. I should punch him right in his nose.
"Whatever. Just keep your eyes and thoughts to yourself." I snapped.
"Blue and August, do you two have something to share with the class?" Mr. Randle asked causing the whole class to turn back to us. Black folks so nosey!
"No sir." I said.
"Yea so everyone can turn around." August said. People began whispering about him. Do he not know what these thugs will do to rich boys like him in the hood?!
"Okay well hush." Mr. Randle said before turning back to the board. A piece of paper was thrown onto my desk by August. I unfolded the paper and read the note. He was asking me if I was coming over to clean his house. I simply wrote back no and put it on his desk. He gave me a funny look.
"Why not?" He whispered.
"My step daddy need me home." I said never looking up at him.
"Need you to do what?" He frowned.
"Mind your own business." I said. The bell rang to go to lunch. I walked out the class but unfortunately he caught up with me.
"Girl slow down." He said.
"Boy move." I pushed him slightly.
"Why you have to put your hands on me? I think you trying to sexually harass me!" He said loudly. I must admit that did make me laugh.
"Bout time I saw you smile!" He smirked.
"Why are you bothering me August? One minute you downgrading me and the next you hitting on me." We fell in the lunch line with everybody else.
"I don't know nobody on this side of town but you. So I might as well make friends with you." He smirked.
"Hell naw. You gone take yo lonely ass somewhere else and use somebody else!" I snapped. Thank god Lia and Noel approached us.
"Who are you?" August looked at Noel.
"Noel. Blue is my sister." She said.
"Dang it's three of y'all. I know Lia ain't y'all sister but she so mean like you, Blue." He said. I could ring his fucking neck out.
"Shut yo ass up before I do it for you." Lia rolled her eyes. Ever since she talked about Ace to me this morning she ain't been right.
"Bye hood rats." He laughed walking off.
"I can't stand this stupid ass school and city! I can't wait till I graduate and leave for the west coast!" Lia said angrily.
"Who you gone stay with on the west coast?" I asked.
"I been saving up money since the 9th grade. Remember I was working all those jobs and trying to juggle school at the same time. Plus since I've been working at Sports Edition and McDonald's for over four years they raised my pay." She said. Lia has her future all figured out unlike me. I might be stuck in Miami forever taking care of Ace and Noel. And maybe even still being a maid.
"You got your shit laid out." I said.
"Yea I was thinking ahead of time. I will go to a college on the west coast and have a small apartment. Plus I will get a job to add on to my money. And when I get my journalist job I will be paid." She smirked. She made it sound so easy when it's not. I don't even know what college I'm going to.
"So what's your plan?" She asked.
"Uhhh-" Noel cut me off.
"Shit. Is that Ace?" Noel looked over me and Lia's shoulder. For once I'm glad to see Ace. He saved me from making an ass of myself. Lia and I shot our heads around quickly. He was coming towards us and everyone stared. Everyone know Ace is Noel and I step dad and he was in the drug game.
"Come on let's go home." He approached us. Everybody just stared. Lia gave him a disgusted look.
"Why?" I frowned.
"I need somebody to stay home when the men come to place the tiles down in the kitchen." He said.
"Why you can't stay?!" Noel said.
"Because I'm going somewhere. Now stop acting like stubborn ass girls and lets go." He said.
"You gone let this nigga talk to y'all like that?!" Lia big mouth said.
"Mind your business Lia before I tell yours!" Ace said. She looked confused. Hell I'm just as confused as she is.
"You don't know nothing bout me!" She snapped.
"I know you need to stay in a slut's place." He said.
"Homie what's your problem?" A boy walked up and grabbed Lia's hand.
"Fuck all this. Noel! Blue! Lets go!" He said more sterner.
"No." I pouted like a big baby. He grabbed both of us roughly by the arm and yanked us out the cafeteria. The last person I saw was a nonchalant August leaning against the walls with his hands in his pockets. His face showed no expression. Is that bad?
August POV
I'm assuming that's her dad. He's pretty aggressive with them. But Blue is so stubborn I can understand why. I don't know about the other girl but Blue is stubborn. Lia and Ty walked over to me.
"Can you believe him?" Ty said.
"This school has yet to show me any reason to stay." I shook my head.
"Ace ain't no good! I can't wait till Noel and Blue find out he had something to do with their mothers murder." Lia said. Her face began turning red. Her eyes got darker.
"Murder? I didn't even know her mama was dead." I said in disbelief.
"Ace ain't even her daddy. He just some junky her mama liked." Lia spat out. Damn this girl has a past on her. Thats probably why she so bitter.
"You her best friend. Why you won't tell her?" I asked.
"Yea that makes you fake." Ty said.
"No it don't! If I tell her she will want to kill Ace. I can't have my best friend behind bars! She too pretty for that." Lia said. She is right about that pretty part.
"What's her address?" I asked. Ty and Lia gave me crazy expressions. I couldn't help but burst out in laughter.
"Nigga is you trying to stalk her?" Ty laughed.
"No. I just want to go check on her." I admitted.
"That may not be a good idea." Lia shook her head.
"Why not?" Ty and I said.
"Blue has this big ass wall built that she doesn't let down for anyone but Noel. So if you want to get to Blue you got to get to Noel." Lia shrugged.
"I just want her address." I smirked at Ty.
"Nigga you stupid." He laughed. Lia wrote it down on some paper.
"Don't try nothing because Blue is crazy." Lia laughed. I won't. I don't think. Lol

I pulled up to her crib. To my surprise it wasn't run down like most of the houses I see in the hood. I'm assume this Ace guy has a good job. I checked out my face in the mirror to make sure it wasn't ashy or anything. I sucked on a tick tack so my breath wasn't tart.
I got out and walked up to the door. I hesitated but knocked. I knocked about three more times until I heard footsteps.
"Who is it?" I heard Blue voice.
"August." I chuckled.
"What do you want?!" She snapped as she opened the door a inch.
"I just wanted to make sure you were okay." I said with all honesty.
"And why is that? Are you trying to get in my pants like all these other perverts?" She squinted her eyes at me. I couldn't help but laugh.
"Girl you are crazy. Can I come in?" I asked. She stared at me for a while but opened the door wider. I brushed by her and walked in her crib. I saw men working on the floor in the kitchen. They all watched Blue's ass as she walked over to the cabinet and got a pack of cookies. She came back and sat in the living room with me.
"Them niggas was watching your ass." I smirked.
"For real?" She frowned.
"Hell yea." I laughed.
"If anyone of y'all look at my ass again I will make sure to tell Ace and get all y'all asses fired!" She yelled. To my surprise they didn't part their lips. They didn't even look up from their work. They just that scared!
"Damn. You got that much power?" I smirked.
"I got enough power to run this town." She said confidently. I like that. She kicked her feet up on the coffee table and turned on The Wedding Planner.
"So where your sister?" I asked.
"Why? See don't fucking play with me August! I will beat yo ass over my-"
"Calm down Blue. I only asked a question. I'm not a pedophile." I frowned. She squinted her eyes at me.
"I let her go to a friend's house." She said.
"So why did he embarrass y'all like that in public?" I asked.
"He's a self centered fuck boy." She said nonchalantly.
"That's messed up." I said touching her neck softly. She shivered a little and quickly shot over to the other end of the couch. Ooooookk. I found her hot spot now.
"Stop. Don't do that." She said shyly. Blue shy? Not big bad Blue.
"You shy now?" I laughed.
"No I just don't want a nigga that called me a hood rat to touch me." She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms like a little baby.
"Well it's true." I laughed.
"I'm not a hood rat!" She yelled getting all in my face. She straddled me on the couch. I don't mind this position actually.
"I'm assuming you like being on top." I laughed.
"That's it. Get out." She got off me and pointed to the door.
"Okay. It's great to know you're doing fine." I smirked as I walked to the door.
"Fuck you." She snapped.
"We were getting to that part until you told me to get out." I smirked.
"I can't stand niggas like you. Y'all think the world should kiss your ass and bow down but it don't work like that. So don't you ever disrespect me like that EVER again or I will make sure you don't ever have kids! Matter of fact I don't want to see your face in another 12 hours." She scolded. I laughed and opened the door.
"Oh yea and I'm coming to work in a few." She blushed trying not to smile. I smirked.
"I knew you couldn't stay away." I laughed as I sat back on the couch.
