Point-of-View

Now, we all know the three types of point of view: First, second, and third.

The clear definitions of these three are the following:

First-Person: When a character is telling the story using words such as "I", "we", "me", and others where they talk of themselves.

Second-Person: This is used when the character is addressing the reader. The pronouns used here are commonly seen as "you", "your", "yours", etc. It could be in a note form om one character to another or is used in x Reader stories.

Third-Person: This is when it's from none of the character's views, but of a person telling the tale that's not in the story. "She", "her", "him", "he", and other pronouns are used for characters in place of "I", "you", etc.

POVs are something important to consider when writing your book. Some people have a preference of wanting to read a certain type of POV, or an author may feel like only one POV is best writing in.

Now, how do you figure out which style to use?

It's hard to figure out, really.

I prefer third-person personally. I get too repetitive when writing in first-person. Plus, I can create dramatic irony more often in third-person, which is my favorite type of irony to use in a book.

To find the kind that best suits your style, try practicing with all of them. Even if you're a fan fiction writer who does reader inserts, find which is most comfortable for you. Not every reader insert needs to be in second-person, third and first work just as well.

Try dabbling in all three POV styles and find which suits you best!
