brumous (adj.) of grey skies + winter days; filled with heavy clouds or fog; relating to winter or cold, sunless weather —

I stumbled back, actually, no. I was literally falling backwards. I closed my eyes ready for the impact, but never felt it. No, you know why? Because the person I walked into caught me by the waist. I slowly opened my eyes and saw the sight in front me. It was all too much to take in. Tilting my head up, just a little, the sight took my breath away. Oh no, I actually mean my breath hitched in my throat. This boy standing before me, he was handsome and breathtaking. Holy frack. It was enough to make me sin. He had a strong jawline, combed back hair, teal eyes that were easy to get lost in, his hands around my waist were big, and rough, he was also really light skin. His ears were pierced, he had an industrial piercing, and his nose, so pointed, had a nose piercing and ring. His arms were inked with tattoos, tattoos of all kind, and they ran under his shirt sleeve and up his neck. God his neck. There were beautiful patterns and it was divine. Everything about him screamed hot and trouble. And I was welcoming it. It's like God sent him himself. Okay, you can't even lie, he's reaaally hot. What is even happening right now? Oh my fracking god! I'm late to my first fracking class. Frack! Nonono!

It wasn't until the boy holding me cleared his throat.

"Take a picture, it lasts longer," he smirked. Oh yes, those were his famous first words. Asshole. But there was also no lying with the fact that his voice was sexy and deep. Okay, what the hell is actually wrong with me right now?

"I like your approach, now let's see your departure," I retorted, smirking victoriously, while his smirk disappeared.

He shook his head and helped me stand upright, until I almost fell again. Pain shot up in my right leg. Oh frack. I forgot. Yeah, this boy's leg slammed right into my right leg and I'm about to die.

"Are you okay?" He asked, concern lacing his voice. Oh my god, I could cry with the amount of pain I'm feeling. Frack!

"N-no. Frack," I hissed, "Can you just like, set me down, and brace me against the lockers?" My voice sounded weak. Weaker than it was ever supposed to sound. Nonetheless, he helped me, looking beyond concerned. There was nothing to concerned about though.

I reached for my duffle and pulled out a gauge. I had this terrible bone injury thanks to fracking soccer last year. I wrapped it and even when I was finished, the handsome boy was still there, in front of me. But his whole demeanor had changed. He looked emotionless, cold, his face blank and void of anything.

"What's your name?" He asked, sounding dangerously cold. So cold, it made me shiver slightly.

"Adrianna," it came out in such a whisper, like the ghost of the word.

"Beautiful," he whispered, so quietly, softly, and smooth, I wasn't sure I was supposed to hear it. His eyes looked distant though.

He stood up and offered me a hand, which I gladly took.

"What's you're first class?" He asked in the same tone.

"Forensics." I stated simply.

"Do me a favour and watch where the fuck you're going next time bitch," he growled, walking in the opposite direction. The frack? Is he fracking for real?

I walk down the hall, into the lab, already ready for this day to be over. As I entered, Pyper was looking around frantically and everyone was in their own bubbles of conversation. True to her words, Pyper held a seat for me at a lab table, along with a boy sitting on her right.

"Adrianna!" She exclaimed and threw her arms around me as I took a seat on the stool.

"I was just telling Marlowe all about you! And how you're reaaally pretty and beautiful," she exclaimed, narrowing her eyes on the last part. Welp.

"Beautiful and pretty, you are," the boy, Marlowe, spoke. Oh, his voice was deep and velvety. He's really good looking too. I adverted my eyes before either of them noticed my lingering eyes.

"Adrianna! I'm Marlowe Harrison," Marlowe voiced, clearly.

"Hi," I countered lightly. And what he did next took me by surprise, but made me feel tingly and welcomed. He walked over to me and put his hands on my waist and he bent his head low enough to breath in my ear, "Don't be nervous, you belong here."

As much as I highly doubted that, he made it seem so believable. Out of the corner of my eye, Pyper crinkled her nose and pushed Marlowe.

"Trust me, he's a player. And a good one at it," she whispered in my ear, glancing down at him and narrowing her eyes. Not even five seconds later, they were both looking at each other, laughing. Me, I was lost.

"You're face... is priceless," Pyper laughed freely, her wild pink tips flying around.

Marlowe and Pyper calmed down after to a while, and she explained, "We're close friends. You'll meet the rest of them at lunch! But I was serious, Marlowe's a player and can be a serious asshole." Marlowe shot her a flat look, and she'd probably be ten feet under if looks could kill.

"Oh okay," I cracked a smile, "One question, where the hell is our teacher?" I voiced my question. It's like fifteen minutes past the first bell and there is no teacher whatsoever. Pyper and Marlowe shrugged and looked like they could care less.

Pyper followed me to my locker after the bell rang and waited patiently. I put away the two textbooks I collected and switched my notebooks.

Now, when I say Pyper dragged me to the cafe, I mean she actually dragged me. She led me to a table with three boys, one of them being Marlowe.

"This is Adrianna!"

"Hey..." I trailed off.

"I'm Judah Monroe," one boy exclaimed. He was really attractive. He has platinum hair, liquid gold eyes, pale complexion. He stood up and pulled me in for a hug. He looked even more yummy with the leather jacket he had on. I could see a few tattoos on him, especially the one of a dove on his neck. Sexy.

"And I'm Talon Piers," the other boy voiced. He was also really attractive. With luscious brown hair, a sun kissed tan, chocolate brown eyes, and standing at about 6'4, he was really breathtaking. And Adrianna Vasiliev, you are a Peeping Tom.

"And these are my best friends," Pyper chirped. All three guys stood up and pulled me in for a hug. They all towered over me, of six feet. And they all smelled good too.

"Pyper, you're friends with all guys," I exclaimed when the realization hit me.

"Yeah! They're all awesome, except for the sexual innuendos and the times where they're egotistical assholes," she replied, chuckling and rolling her eyes.

"Let's go," Judah piped in after a while, coming to my left, leading me, along with Pyper, outside.

"Where to?" I asked, confusion taking me over.

To which Judah replied, "Outside, to our spot," and he laughed coolly. He snaked an arm around my waist and I couldn't help but lean into his touch. Pyper walked by my side on the right, smiling at her phone. All the while, I didn't miss the looks - more like glares and hungry stares - being thrown my way. What the hell? And Judah knew something was up. Well obviously! You're shifting uncomfortably.

He bent down, low enough for his breath to touch my ear and make me shiver, "Don't worry. They're just jealous."

"J-jealous? Of what?" My voice nothing above a whisper.

"You." His voice was low taunting, but somewhat sincere. I'm not making any sense am I?

"Wh-why would they be jealous of me?" My voice still nothing but a whisper. It was like the ghost of the words playing at my lips.

"Because you're with us," Judah whispered in my ear, and I turn my head to look him in the eye and he just winks. What the hell! Oh, here goes my plans for staying lowkey and under the radar.

Reaching the table, they all just throw their bags on top and take a seat. Judah, on the other hand, doesn't give a shiitake about his bag and takes a seat, pulling me on his lap in the process.

"Oof!" I say when I land.

Judah laughs lightly, shaking his head.

"You're adorable, you know that?" My face heats up crimson and I hide my head in the crook of his neck. Him, he laughs wholeheartedly and I feel my face heat up even more. Why does he have this effect on me? I literally just met him!

"You have nothing to hide from me," he whispers in my ear.

Some time has passed and I pick up my head to see Judah already looking at me. I look over to Pyper and she's staring back at Judah and I with adoration. Everything feels at ease with them, perfect almost, and I feel like I belong.

"Oh my god!" Pyper shrieked and I wince at how loud it was.

"Yes," I asked pointedly.

She sent a sheepish smile, "I just remembered we have to switch numbers. Let me see your phone," and I narrow my eyes at her.

Nonetheless, I hand her my iPhone 7.

"Ooo! Fifteen texts from Adrian. Who's Adrian? With three n's?" She said in a teasing tone. I literally had to stop myself from face palming.

I took my phone from Pyper and called this pendejo.

"¡Hola mejor amigo! ¿Cómo estás? Estoy en la escuela ahora mismo idiota. ¿Qué podrías querer en este momento?"

"Nothing," Adrian replied in a cheery voice. What even?

"Adrian did you get laid? Holy shit best friend! Which girl was it?!"

"Bitch. What if it wasn't a girl? What if I'm gay and hit it off with a guy last night?" As much as he tried to sound serious, I could hear the sarcasm dripping from his words.

"That'd be lovely Adrian, except we all know you're as straight as my goddamn 4.0 GPA," I replied, just as sarcastic, but being as sincere as hell. Pyper and and the guys sent me weird looks and Judah's grip on me tightened. I don't blame them. I'd look at me weirdly too. I put the phone on speaker and bent down to grab my water from my duffle. Frack! Terrible decision ever! Judah had a perfect view of my ass. Wonderful!

"What 4.0 GPA? We all know you're as stupid as a freaking brick sweetheart." Pyper and the guys looked at me with their jaws dropped. Hell I couldn't blame them for that either! It's not very often you see best friends talk to each other like that, right?

"You're basically calling yourself stupid," I retorted lamely.

"Oh yes! You're right! Please explain the fucking logic behind that Adrianna," Adrian requested.

"Oh okay you see. You said you could've possibly been gay and hooked up with a guy last night. But obviously you're not, because I mean, you're Adrian. Okay, that's beyond the point. Right, back to it, so I responded saying hell no, you're as straight as my 4.0 GPA. And you were like what 4.0 GPA. You're as stupid as a brick. So basically, you just called me stupid, but also called yourself stupid on the process," I said all in one breath. And the lovely people sitting around looked at me like I really needed a mental institute. You can't blame them.

Adrian breathed in and out on the other line and finally spoke up, "Adrianna, I hope you know, your logic makes no fucking sense."

"Who the hell said I was smart to begin with?"

"Glad to know we're on the same page."

"Oh right, because you are so much more smarter than I am!" I practically praised, feeding his ego.

"I know right!" For a guy, he has a lot of sass. Drama queen right there.

"I'm starting to think you're secretly a girl," I deadpan.

"Lovely," was his reply.

"Adrian!" I heard his mom shout in the background.

"Oh my fucking god," He muttered, "I'll be right there mom!" And shouted the last part.

"Adrianna, I gotta go! I'll talk with you later, I love you!"

"I don't love you!" I replied, smiling enthusiastically.

"Fuck you, goodbye!" And he cut the call. Me, I burst out laughing.

Pyper and the guys looked at me and I could see them thinking up ways to send me to a mental institute. If I go, Adrian comes along.

Judah, well, his grip on me was a goddamned death grip. Yet it felt good. What's wrong with me?

I placed my tiny hands on his huge ones and tried to pull them apart, but it was literally no use.

"Judah," I attempted to ask, but it sounded like a moan. Oh. My. Fracking. God!! Just send me to hell already?

"Yes beautiful," he murmured since he had his head buried in my hair.

"You're grip... is really tight..." And he instantly loosened. Oh my god, I can breathe! Sweet, sweet victory!

What the hell is wrong with you, another voice piped in my head.

"What the fuck is she doing here?"

My head snapped up to see the same guy that I had my encounter with this morning. Except this time, he had a girl under his arms. And they were both fuming. Oh shiitake.
