Listen to the song while reading! :)

The first day of being in New York. She admits, it was tiring. Very tiring. Apparently Alya flew here for her job too! Meaning the two will be roommates!

Well... Not really.

Did she forget to mention a small detail?

Yes, she did.

"Momma, who this?" A little girl with chestnut hair and brown eyes asked, pushing up her glasses.

"Alayna, that's your Auntie Marinette!" Alya said cheerfully, picking the four-year-old girl up.

Alya had a daughter, a husband, a family.

Something Marinette always wanted.

"Hello, Alayna! You are so cute!" Marinette squealed, bopping the little girl's nose. Alya had grown much taller. She looked matured. She didn't know why, but she was actually taller than Alya. Must have been because she was and still is the ladybug.

"Okay, so you'll be staying here. Aly will be staying in here, and I'll be staying over there." Alya pointed to the rooms where the three girls parted their ways.

She started to unpack, making sure everything looked like her old room. Although it did, it wasn't enough. The smells of pastries didn't lurch her smell.

It smelled of fresh paint and some lemon pledge Alya must have used to clean the floors.

Nothing like Paris.

Sighing, she took out her phone and checked for any messages from Adrien. She still had a little hope that Adrien would wait for her even if she said not to.

It was complicated.

'No new messages...' She quickly tapped the messaging app and started to type, saying, "Hi Minou. I miss you so much!". But it wouldn't work.

She pressed the delete button and groaned, watching as three dots with a bubble around it forming.

Adrien was texting her.

She quickly shot up and sat on her bed, waiting for the reply.

Adrien, on the other hand, was having a bit of trouble. Just like Marinette, he wanted to text her. But wouldn't it be awkward? He saw the three dots.

He waited, and waited, and waited, but no reply. He quickly typed up a text saying, "M'lady, I miss you so so much! Paris is nothing without you!' But it wouldn't be irrelevant.

Marinette gazed at the three dots that were once there but weren't anymore. Was he just messing with her?

She quickly exited the app and tapped the music one instead, playing a song on the radio she hasn't heard before.

"Welcome to pop 101 folks! This is George and Mandy with a new hit song! A Charlie Puth fan AND a Selena Gomez fan? Well, this is the song for you! Selena Gomez and Charlie Puth everybody!"

Marinette started to relax. She lied on her side, waiting for the song to come on the radio. She was so desperate to hear something. Music.

"We don't talk anymore. We don't talk anymore. We don't talk anymore like we used to do." The first lyric struck her. How convenient. Just when she was having troubles talking with Adrien, this song comes on!

Meanwhile, Adrien was dying to hear another song by Pop 101. It was one of his favourite radio stations after all. Although pop music wasn't very popular where he lived, he managed to get a copy of it.

(Bold is Adrien, Marinette's italics, and italics and bold is both.)

"We don't laugh anymore, what was all of it for?" Adrien gasped at the lyrics. Seriously? The irony of this song is so idiotic.

Marinette started to like the tune. She took her earphones off and stuck her speakers on instead, blasting the new song.

"Ooh, we don't talk anymore like we used to do!" Marinette began to sang along.

"I just heard you found the one you've been looking, you been looking for." Nope, Adrien thought. Not all of it was ironic, but he still liked the song.

"I wish I would've known that wasn't me."

"Cause even after all this time I still wonder, why I can't move on? Just the way you did so easily..." Adrien sang, tapping his table lightly with his fingers.

"Don't wanna know what dress you're wearing tonight, if he's giving it to you just right, the way I did before."

"I overdosed, should've known your love was a game, now I can't get you out of my brain, ooh it's such a shame." Of course Gabriel heard his son singing, but he didn't want to interfere. The boy was already in a bad mood.

"That we don't talk anymore, we don't talk anymore. We don't talk anymore like we used to do. We don't laugh anymore. What was all of it for? Ooh, we don't talk anymore like we used to do."

Marinette sighed and listened as the guy also known as Charlie Puth sang that. Reminded her so much of Adrien. Now came the girl's part, the one she was waiting for. She took a deep breath before singing,

"I just hope your lying next to somebody, who knows how to love you like me. There must be a good reason that you're gone." She sang along as her kwami danced to the tune. Smiling, she continued.

"Every now and then I think you might want me to come show up at your door. But I'm just too afraid that I'll be wrong."

"Don't wanna know, if you're looking into her eyes, if she's holding onto you so tight, the way I did before."

"I overdosed, should've known your love was a game. Now I can't get you out of my brain, ooh it's such a shame."

"That we don't talk anymore, we won't talk anymore, we don't talk anymore like we used to do." The two sang in unison although they were miles apart from each other.

Lying on their beds, they continue to sang. "We don't laugh anymore. What was all of it for? Ooh, we don't talk anymore like we used to do!"

The interlude came on, as the two stared at the mural that was hanged up on their walls. Adrien had kept him while Marinette had hers.

"Don't wanna know, what dress you're wearing tonight, if he's giving it to you just right, the way I did before." Adrien sang but stopped there when he heard the woman's voice sing.

"I overdosed, should've known your love was a game, now I can't get you out of my brain, ooh it's such a shame."

"We don't talk anymore." The two sang in unison once more before turning off their radios. Marinette quickly put Tikki into her purse and walked outside.

'Time to explore what New York looks like.'

Adrien finally finished packing up! Success! He quickly carried his bags downstairs and waited for his chauffeur who was already starting to load the limo with stuff.

"Adrien, I'll check up on you in Spain once in a while. Have fun, son." His father smiled and placed a hand on his shoulder before pulling away so his son could get into the car.

Wait.

What about ladybug and chat noir?

What's gonna happen now??

If Marinette was gone and he was gone...

He should've thought this through!

Plagg peeked out of his pocket before flying in front of his owner. "Ya know... Hawkmoth hasn't been active lately. Maybe you should take a break from being Chat Noir and just relax! Geez." Plagg rolled his eyes and once again entered Adrien's shirt.

"I-I understand, ma'am... Yes, yes, alright, bye." The woman quickly hung up on the phone and glanced at Marinette who was anxiously waiting for her boss to come.

It was her first day of work! She was very very nervous. Considering the professionals that worked here in New York, maybe she was just a noob as they call it here!

"Miss Dupain-Cheng, she will be here soon." The woman smiled and returned back to her paperwork.

The woman stepped out of the elevator. She strutted over to Marinette, lightly tapping her back.

"Hello, ma'am! I'm Marinette Dupain-Cheng, very nice to meet you!" She sounded very professional. Shaking the woman's hand, Marinette sat into the seat across from her boss' making eye contact with her.

"Please, call me Ms. A." She laughed, taking Marinette's hands in hers.

"Of course, Miss A. Where should I start?" She asked.

Miss A directed her to her little working area where she explained what she would be doing. A few minutes later, Miss A finally left the bluenette alone, while she walked off for another meeting.

"Tikki can you believe this? I'm working here! The AA co. Is amazing!" Marinette squealed, taking the designs she had nearly placed in a folder out. Her kwami nodded, watching as the girl fumbled with the few fabrics.

"No, I don't!" Tikki replied sarcastically, making the bluenette laugh. She started to work on her new master piece. It would be a knee level dress. Very glittery and blue.

Once she had done the sketching, she moved onto the sewing, carful not to prick herself with the needle.

"Ouch!" She yelped in pain, wiping the blood that was oozing out of her finger with a cloth. The cloth already looked red by all the time she's been pricked with it.

A few more hours later, she was finally done! The dress looked amazing! She even modeled it, asking her kwami to take pictures of her to send to Alya.

Quickly gathering her stuff, she rushed to Miss A's office, not realizing she was on the phone.

"No, I don't understand! I can keep the name if I want! Goodbye." She said the last word with greeted teeth, before hanging up, furiously slamming the phone down.

"I'm so sorry, Miss Dupain-Cheng... Just had some problems but all taken care of." Miss A smiled at Marinette before noticing the blue dress she had in her hands.

She gasped at how beautiful it was. It fit perfectly! She spun it around a couple of times, before turning to the girl who was nervously laughing.

"It looks wonderful, Miss Dupain-Cheng! How would you like to come to one of my meetings next week? I want to talk to you about a promotion. I've heard about your work in Paris. Correct?" Marinette nodded and walked out the door before jumping up and down.

"I might get a promotion! Tikki this is great!" Tikki whisper yelled, taking her phone out to call Alya.

"Alya! We need to celebrate! Meet me at the French cafe over on 5th avenue?" She asked, packing up all her stuff.

"Woah, slow down Mari! Of course, I will! You better tell me the good news then! Gotta go, mother duties!" She yelled before hanging up. Marinette giggled and walked out of the building before opening up her parasol. She had made it herself the other day.

"Everything is looking great, Tikki." She sighed, entering the cafe.

Finally, after a few hours of sitting on the plane, he was in Spain! Adrien stepped out of his luxurious private jet, walking into the limo that was waiting for him outside the airport doors.

"Natalie, where are we?" Adrien asked his father's assistant, staring at the city before him.

"Madrid." She replied, before looking at her schedule. He was enjoying this already!

Well, except for Natalie's constant talking.

He sighed and took his ear phones out, plugging it into his phone before putting on his new favorite song.

We don't talk anymore.

Eeeeeeeek I love this chapter so much! Lmao probs because of the song but yeah, whatever. Anyways, happy reading and stay tuned for the next chapter.

IMPORTANT QUESTION: Should I jus spam y'all with updates? I have like 34 chapters stored and I'm getting impatient 😩
