SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG!! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! ENJOY!!!
It was the 31st of December. What does that mean? It means that in a couple of hours – 5 hours to be exact, the sky will be covered with fireworks and thousands of people in Seoul would scream “Happy new year!”
Well; almost everyone. Everyone except me, I rather stay inside my room, reading a book or study. My name is Dannielle, I’m actually from Taiwan, but I and my parents moved to South Korea when I was about 9 years old. I’m a loner, not many students in school know my name, but most people call me ‘nerd’, not like I care.
I don’t understand: why do people even celebrate the New Year? It’s just a new year, nothing special no be honest. Why is everyone so happy and hyper about it? To see the fireworks? Oh please, you can buy fireworks whenever you want if you like them so much.
“Dannielle, are you sure you don’t want to come with us to the Byun family?” my mom asks me. “They have a son and he’s just one year older than you, you could maybe become friends”
“Mom, I’ve already told you that I don’t want to go” I say. She sighs and nods.
“Very well sweetheart, call me if you need anything” and after that; mom and dad left the house.
As I lay down on the bed I pick up my favorite book; ‘Goodnight Mr. Tom’, and without noticing I’ve fallen asleep.
I wake up by a knock on the glass door in my room that leads to the balcony. I rub my eyes and look at the glass door, I see someone standing outside, and I scream.
“Who are you?!” I shout and turn on the lights to the balcony. I freeze when I see who it is outside. “B-Baekhyun?” I ask in shock.
Why is he here? I look at the clock; it’s 5 minutes until midnight. Shouldn’t he be with the rest of the Byun family and my parents? Yes, he is the guy mom talked about that is a year older than me.
His name is Byun Baekhyun, he is 19 years old. He is one of the reasons why I didn’t want to go to the Byun family. Why? He is a spoiled and stupid brat, only cares about himself, and shows no respect to anyone. But the question is; why is he here?
“Can I come in?” he asks. I nod and open the door; he walks in without saying thanks or anything. Instead he starts to look around in my room. “Cute” he says and points at the big teddy bear in the corner.
“Why are you here?” I ask and he turns around and stares at me for awhile. God he’s handsome.
“Isn’t it obvious?” he asks, turning back and starts to wander around the room.
“No it’s not. Tell me or leave” I say with a harsh voice.
“Is that supposed to sound like a threat? Because either way you sound really cute” he smirks
He sits down on the bed and looks at me again.
“Did you dye your hair?” Baekhyun suddenly asks
“No” he nods. “Why are you here?” I ask him once again
“Sit down” he says, ignoring my question.
I sit down on the bed, a bit away from him. Suddenly I start to feel warm. What is this? What is this feeling? “What time is it?” he asks me
“There is a clock on the wall” I mumble
“I have bad eyesight” he answers. I sigh and look at the clock, at the same time I hear the fireworks outside the house.
“Midnight” I say and turn around to meet his eyes, but I halt when I feel something warm on my lips. He kissed me. Is the thought that goes through my head after he backs away and stands up. I’m in shock.
Baekhyun chuckles and walks to the balcony door. I follow after him, still in shock. He looks at me and chuckles once again and kisses me on the cheek.
“Happy New Year jagiya” Baekhyun says and smiles at me. After that he is gone.
I lay down on the bed and can’t stop thinking about the kiss. A big smile forms on my lips.
Maybe New Year isn’t that bad after all…
