~Hide's POV~
I blinked in surprise at what Will had claimed. Why was
I all glowing and stuff, was that what it was like to be
claimed? I shook my head to clear my thoughts then I glanced at
Kaneki. Kaneki was blinking his one visible eye rapidly as if
to get rid of something blocking his vision.
"So, I'm a son of Apollo? Cool." I said with a grin,
getting up and standing next to Will. I looked him up and down,
speaking after a moment.
"I always wondered what it would be like to have a
brother." I said with a smile and Will offered a happy grin.
"Come, sit at the Apollo table to meet your other
siblings, Hide." Will said as he slung an arm around my
shoulders. I hesitated at what Will had said and glanced at
Kaneki.
Kaneki gave a grin then nodded. "Don't stay back
because of me, Hide. Go ahead."
I smiled. "Don't worry, I'll be back, Kaneki!" I said
as I walked to the Apollo table with Will, almost immediately
being greeted with random pats on the back and names. As I
greeted everyone a loud roar echoed through the camp, stopping
all conversation. I looked up as a crashing sound came from a
distance, the sound coming closer as time rushed by.
"ATTACK!!" A voice called out as a rather large
creature came in to view.
The creature could only be described as a monster out
of an old book found in the back of a library. It had a lizard
like body and seven heads along with a rather large scale
covered body that was a sickening gray color. As the beast got
closer I heard someone shout out a name that made my head spin.
"HYDRA!" As the name was called out louder once more my
head jerked to where Kaneki was sitting but I found the seat
empty.
"Kaneki!" I called out in a panic as I looked around,
noticing many of the demi-gods already retrieving their own
weapons and trying to hold off the beast.
While I couldn't find Kaneki, I did find Percy. Percy
was one of the main people on defense, holding back the hydra
with water from the lake nearby. Cheeky son of Poseidon. I
shook the thought from my head then quickly ran from the dining
area to the archery practice range and grabbed one of the few
bows and quivers that had not been destroyed.
After I grabbed what I needed I sent a small prayer to
Apollo in high hopes he would help me out to not let me fail.
"I know I haven't done much for ya, dad - Er, Apollo,
but can you give me a small loan of power so I can defend my
new home and family?" I murmured softly in to the air, almost
automatically feeling a warm sensation run through my bones -
similar the suns warmth. I smiled slightly and mumbled my
thanks before rushing off in the direction of the destruction
and disaster.
"Kaneki!" I called out as I notched an arrow, aiming at
the raging hydra and where I presumed the heart to be. I cursed
slightly as I saw someone from the Apollo cabin go flying past
me from a blow the hydra had delivered. Letting out a small
growl of anger, I released the arrow and let it fly straight in
to the beast's chest. The hydra let out a shriek of pain as it
crumbled in to a pile of Ash. As the battle came to a stop, I
lowered the bow I had used and glanced around to see multiple
eyes on me.
I blinked slightly in shock. Had I really killed the
hydra? Where's Kaneki? Maybe Percy saw him. I looked around,
spotting Percy who was helping an injured child of Hermes and I
ran to the two.
"Have you seen Kaneki?" I asked, panic obvious in my
voice.
Percy glanced around, his eyes narrowed slightly. "I
saw him dart in to the forest as the alarm set in on camp. I
haven't seen him since. Go find him, something must have
happened to make him want to run off." He stated.
I gave a curt nod. "I'll bring him back." I confirmed,
and I took off running in to the forest.
~Kaneki's POV~
I darted to the side swiftly as a ukaku crystal crashed
down behind me. I delivered a quick kick to the rogue ghouls
head then punched the ghoul in the gut. I was sore everywhere,
every part of me ached in pain from the ghouls attacks. This
was no every day ghoul, you see, this one was much more
powerful and his eyes golden. As I dodged a crystal, the ghoul
laughed.
"Squirm all you want, you little centipede! Mother
earth will rise again, and then ghouls like you will perish
while ghouls like me will live on!" The ghoul shrieked in a
wicked gleeful tone as he attacked. I dodged quickly and hissed
in pain as a burning sensation tore through my right thigh. I
cursed slightly, knowing I was injured without needing to look.
As the ghoul attacked again I quickly did a flip in the air and
I delivered a quick kick to the ghouls throat, knocking it down
on to the ground and immediately pinning the ghoul. As soon as
the ghoul hit the ground, I bit in to the ghouls throat. A
strong savory taste filled my mouth and I let out a soft moan
as I started to eat more of the the ghoul, unable to stop.
"She... will... rise." The ghoul choked out as the
light faded from his eyes and he died.
As I ate, frantic footsteps approached me from behind
and a familiar scent attacked my nose as I gulped down the
meat in my mouth.
"Kaneki, are you okay? You disappeared and everyone is
worried." Hide said as he glanced down at the dead body I was
feeding from.
"I'm fine, Hide... I'm sorry I caused pain." I stated
simply as pain shot back up my leg and I glanced down, noticing
the Ukaku crystal was still in my thigh. I let out a couple
curse words and Hides eyes flew down to my leg.
"Shit, Kaneki! Why hasn't your wound healed?" Hide
asked, rushing to my side.
I blinked my eyes multiple times, suddenly seeing spots
in my line of vision. "I-I don't know." I stated softly, my
eyes fighting to stay open. Hide noticed my struggle to stay
conscious and he picked me up.
"Let's get you back to camp, Kaneki. I can't help you
here." Hide said, his voice sounding muffled as I slipped
unconscious with only three words reaching my ears as I passed
out.
"Stay with me."
The first thing I had heard was slight snoring coming
from beside me. I cracked my eyes open to be almost be blinded
from the light in the room. After I was able to see normally, I
glanced to where the snoring was coming from. I smiled, seeing
Hide. He was laying by my side, passed out cold with bags under
his eyes that worried me. How long had it been since Hide had
slept? How long had it been since I had fallen unconscious? I
quickly shook the thoughts from my mind as Hide moaned
slightly, waking up.
"Hmm, morning." Hide grumbled as he rubbed his eyes,
waking himself up. "You okay?"
"I'm fine, Hide... how long have I been out?" I asked,
watching Hide sit up.
"About two days. You haven't really missed much." Hide
said, offering me one of his signature grin.
"That long? When was the last time you slept, Hide...?"
I asked.
"I just woke up now. I had a full eight hours of
sleep." Hide said.
I winced slightly. "Hide, you should go get some more
rest..."
"I'm fine. I need to take you back to the white
house... campers found the dead ghoul. I can only assume it's
best to tell them about yourself." Hide stated and I nodded
slightly in agreement.
"You're right. Let me get up." I said as I started to
pull myself up, but Hide stopped me before I could get out of
the bed.
I can get a wheelchair." Hide stated with concern.
I shook my head. "I'm fine." I responded, getting out
of the bed with Hide by my side. I stumbled slightly and Hide
caught me.
"Ready to go?" Hide asked.
"I'm ready." I answered, walking out of the infirmary
with Hide by my side.
