You pulled into the gym parking lot where your best friend Patrick asked you to pick him up. The two of you were going to lunch after his workout, so he figured he could get a ride from you. You got out of your car and leaned against the hood of the car. It was a beautiful, sunny, day, and you wanted to soak up as much sun as you could. You looked at the entrance of the gym and saw Patrick walking out with his teammate, Artemi Panarin. You couldn't help but smile as you saw him chatting with Patrick. You would be lying if you said you didn't have a crush on Artemi, so whenever you saw him, you got butterflies.
Patrick waved to you and walked over to you with Artemi. "Hey, Y/N." he smiled and hugged you. "Don't worry, I showered." He joked.
You hugged him back and smiled. "Well I appreciate that." You joked.
He pulled away and smiled. "You know Artemi." He smirked.
"I do." You smiled. "How was your workout?" you asked him.
Artemi smiled at you. "Good." He said. "Nice to see you." he added.
You smiled and hoped that your blush wasn't too obvious. "It's nice to see you too, Artemi."
"Well we're going to go to lunch. Thanks for the ride and the workout, Bread Man." Patrick said and gave his teammate a hug.
"Not a problem." He said and smiled at you again. "Bye, Y/N." he said.
"Bye." You said and got in the car.
You and Patrick went to lunch and talked about your weekend plans, among other things. After you finished, Patrick paid for the two of you and got back in the car with you. When you pulled up at his house, he smiled over at you.
"So Amanda and I were thinking of going out to dinner tonight and maybe catch a movie. Do you want to come with us?" he asked.
"I don't want to be the third wheel." You said.
"You won't be. I'm bringing you a date." He smirked.
"A date?" you said, feeling butterflies in your stomach. "Patrick, I don't know about that." You said.
"Just trust me; you'll be thanking me later. I'll pick you up at six, okay?" he smiled, getting out of the car before you could argue.
You rushed home to get a shower and to get dressed. You wanted to look cute, but you wanted to be comfortable too. You decided on navy blue shorts, and a white tank top, and a gray cardigan over it. You let your hair down and wavy and waited for Patrick. When you heard a knock, you felt your stomach drop. You opened the door and when you saw who was there, you almost fell over.
"Patrick sent me to get you." Artemi said shyly. He smiled at you and played with the bottom of his polo.
You smiled and looked over his shoulder, seeing Patrick in the car, waving. You looked back at Artemi and smiled. "Well I'm glad it's you." you smiled.
"I glad it's you too." He smiled. He held his arm out for you to take.
You smiled and took his arm gently, walking to the car and getting into the backseat with him. Patrick smirked at you in the rearview mirror before driving off. You all went to eat at a fairly nice restaurant downtown. While you ate and talked with everyone, you noticed Artemi smiling over at you and watching you. It made the butterflies start fluttering in your stomach, and gave you a warm feeling everywhere.
After dinner, you climbed into the backseat with Artemi again as you rode to the theater. While you drove, he reached over and took your hand in his. You smiled over at him and gave his hand a gently squeeze.
"This is okay?" he asked you.
"Yes, this is okay." You smiled.
"Good." He smiled.
Patrick pulled up at the theater and you all walked in. Patrick bought the tickets for everyone and then turned to you and Artemi, putting an arm around Amanda's waist.
"Do you guys want to get the snacks, and we'll go get us seats?" he asked.
"Sure." You smiled.
"Just get two popcorns, and two drinks, then whatever candy you want." He said and handed you his card, winking at you.
You smirked and shook your head, figuring he was teasing you in some way. "Okay." You said and got in the concession line with Artemi.
He stood next to you and let you order the food and drinks. He carried the two buckets of popcorn while you carried the drinks. "You need help?" he asked you.
"No, I got it. Thank you, though." You smiled.
You both walked into the theater and found Patrick and Amanda in one of the center rows. You handed Patrick the drink, and Artemi handed him one of the popcorn buckets. You sat down, letting Artemi sit between you and Patrick. You took a handful of popcorn and smiled over at him. When the movie started, Artemi put his arm around your shoulders, relaxing into you. You smiled and rested your head on his shoulder, feeling the butterflies again.
After a little while, you and Artemi ran out of popcorn and pop. He leaned over to your ear and whispered, "You come with me for refill?" he asked.
You smiled and nodded at him, taking his hand. "Let's go." You whispered.
Artemi followed you out of the theater and into the lobby. You both got refills on the pop and popcorn, and headed back down the hallway to the theater. Before you opened the door, Artemi took your hand gently.
"Y/N?" he asked softly.
You turned and face him, smiling. "What's up?" you asked.
"You are very beautiful." He said, carefully pronouncing each word.
You smiled and leaned up, kissing his cheek gently. "Thank you, Artemi. You're very handsome." You said.
He smiled at you and kissed your cheek. "Thank you." he said.
The two of you went back into the theater and watched the rest of the movie, cuddled together in the seats. After the movie was over, you all walked out into the lobby, Artemi holding your hand gently. You went into the bathroom with Amanda while Artemi and Patrick went into the men's room. As you were freshening up, Amanda smiled over at you.
"Patrick is so proud of himself for getting you and Artemi together." She said.
You looked over at her. "Getting us together?" you asked.
"Yeah, that's why he did this whole double date thing. He wanted to get the two of you together." She smiled.
You looked at her and shook your head smiling. "I can't even be mad at him." You said.
You both walked out and Patrick and Artemi were waiting by the doors. You walked over and gently pinched Patrick's side, causing him to look over at you.
"Thank you." you said, smiling.
"For what?" he asked, smirking down at you.
"Just thank you." you smiled. "Are we ready?" you asked.
"Yes." Artemi smiled and held your hand.
You all went out to the car and talked about the movie on the ride back to your house. When Patrick pulled into your driveway, Artemi helped you out of the car before walking you up to your door. You smiled up at him, standing in front of him to face him.
"Well I had a lot of fun tonight. I'm glad you were the date Patrick had for me." You smiled.
"Me too." Artemi smiled. "Maybe we do this more, just you and me." He said softly.
You smiled and nodded. "I'd like that a lot." You said. "Thank you for tonight, Artemi." You said.
"You're welcome." He smiled. He looked at his shoes and then at you before he spoke again. "Could you kiss me?" he asked shyly.
You smiled up at him and answered his question by pressing your lips against his. As cliché as it sounds, you felt sparks when you kissed him. You pulled away gently and smiled. "Was that okay?" you asked.
Artemi smiled and nodded. "Very okay." He said. "I like kissing you." he said.
You smiled and nodded. "I like kissing you too." You said. "I'll see you soon, okay?"
"Okay." He smiled. "Goodnight, Y/N." he said and kissed your cheek, hugging you.
You smiled and hugged him back. "Night, Artemi." You said.
You walked inside and mentally screamed. The night was perfect, and you couldn't wait to go out with Artemi again. As you headed upstairs to get pajamas on, you heard your phone buzz. You checked your phone and saw a text message from Patrick.
'You're welcome, Y/N. ; )'
