When your best friend Patrick was traded to Dallas from the Blackhawks, you were definitely upset. The two of you spent almost every day together and when you found out that he had to pick up and move to Texas, it took a toll on you. Things turned out to be easier than you had imagined, though. The two of you always talked on skype and when you couldn't do that, you'd text or call each other. When you found out that Dallas was going to be playing Chicago at the United Center, you and Patrick agreed to hang out as much as you could while he wasn't on the ice. When the team landed in Chicago, Patrick called you as soon as he got on the bus.

"Hello?" you answered smiling.

"Hey gorgeous, how are you?" he asked.

"I'm great. Are you here yet?" you asked.

"We just landed. We're going straight to the hotel if you want to come over and have some lunch together." Patrick smiled.

"I'll meet you over there." You smiled.

"Great." He said.

You went to the hotel and got a text from Patrick with his room number. You rode the elevator up to the seventh floor and went down to his room. You took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

Before your arm was all the way down at your side, the door opened. "Hey." You smiled.

Patrick smiled and wrapped his arms around you pulling you into a bear hug. "I've missed you so much." He said into your shoulder.

"I missed you too." You said, holding onto him tightly.

"Come on in." he smiled and let you inside.

The two of you had lunch together and caught up on the last few weeks without each other. After you hung out for a while, Patrick invited you to their practice the next day. You agreed and headed home to get some sleep.

The next morning, you got up and got your jeans on along with a red t-shirt. You got your shoes and a jacket on and headed to the arena. Even though you had seen Patrick the night before, you still had butterflies in your stomach. When you got to the team entrance, one of the security guards named Alec let you in. He had known you since you first met Patrick, so he knew to let you inside. You walked down the hallway and saw the last few Hawks leaving the ice. Patrick Kane saw you and smiled, waving to you.

"Hey Y/N, are you here to see your man?" he teased.

You walked over and smiled, hoping the blush on your cheeks wasn't obvious. "Oh definitely. How was practice?" you asked.

"It was great. We're ready to take them down." He smirked. "I think they're heading out to the ice in about five or ten minutes so you can probably just wait on the team bench."

"Okay, thank you. Good luck tonight." You smiled.

Patrick went into the dressing room with the rest of the team and you walked out and sat on the team bench. As you waited, you watched the Zamboni glide across the ice to smooth it over for the next team. When you were watching it, you felt two strong arms wrap around your shoulders from behind.

"Boo." Patrick's voice spoke behind you.

You smiled and held his arms gently. "Hey you." you smiled.

He walked around the bench and sat next to you, holding his helmet in his lap. "Now you get to meet my new team." He said and nudged your arm gently.

You nodded and smiled. "Well hopefully they're alright with meeting a diehard Blackhawks fan." You teased him.

"They'll make an exception for you." he winked.

The two of you talked while the rest of his team began trickling out of the dressing room. As the other players walked out, Patrick introduced you to everyone. They were all very kind to you and a few of them teased you about being a Hawks fan, which you knew was coming and served the teasing right back. Patrick stood up to go out onto the ice and looked at the tunnel entrance.

"There's the last one." He said.

You looked over your shoulder and saw a young looking player with a 91 on his helmet. From watching the games, you knew that this was Tyler Seguin.

"Hey Sharp, is this your daughter or something?" Tyler joked.

Patrick smirked and shook his head. "Yeah, I had her when I was in high school but no one knew about it." He joked right back. "Tyler, this is Y/N, Y/N this is Tyler."

You turned on the bench some and smiled up at him. "It's nice to meet you Tyler." You said, extending your arm.

Tyler smiled at you and shook your hand gently. "Likewise. You know, normally I'd have to give you crap about being a fan of the other team, but I can make an exception for a beautiful girl like you." he winked.

You felt your cheeks getting warm and you smiled. "Well thank you, that's very sweet of you." you said.

Patrick smiled some and nodded. "Well we gotta get on the ice." He said and put his helmet on.

"Score a goal for me." You smiled.

"I will." Tyler chimed in with a smirk, knowing you were talking to Patrick, and headed onto the ice with Patrick.

You watched the guys practice and tried to keep your eyes on Patrick. As you watched, you noticed that Tyler was showing off and kept flirting with you when he had breaks from skating. You were polite and talked back to him, but you couldn't help but notice the glares from Patrick as you did so. During the break, Tyler skated over to you and leaned on the wall in front of you.

"So are you doing anything tonight after the game?" he asked sweetly.

You smiled and shrugged. "I'm not sure what I'm doing tonight. I'm kind of just winging it." You said.

He nodded and smiled. "Maybe we can go get a bite to eat. You can show me around the Windy City." He said.

Before you could answer, Patrick was sitting on the bench next to you. You hadn't even seen him skate over. "Hey." You said.

"What's up?" he asked and put an arm around your shoulders.

Tyler smiled. "I was just asking her if she wanted to get dinner with me tonight." He said.

"I'm sure she'd love to but I'm taking her to a movie after the game." Patrick said.

You looked at Patrick with a bit of confusion on your face.

"That's funny because Y/N said she didn't have any plans." Tyler said.

"It's a last minute thing." Patrick said and smiled.

You looked at Patrick and then at Tyler.

"Well I technically asked her first." Tyler smirked.

"Guys." You interjected. "I think your coach is calling you back." You said to change the subject.

Both men looked at the coach and saw that he was in fact waving them over.

"I'm going to use the restroom." You said and got up, walking out of the team area and heading down the tunnel to the bathrooms.

Tyler and Patrick watched you go and then got back onto the ice to continue their practice. You went into the bathroom and sighed, leaning against the wall. A tiny part of you was excited that two guys were fighting over you, but most of you hated it. Tyler was sweet and charming, but you had had a crush on Patrick since you met him. You contemplated faking a stomach ache and heading home early, but you knew it would hurt Patrick not to see you in the stands. After a few minutes of thinking, you heard a light knock on the door.

"Y/N?" Patrick's voice came from the other side.

"I'll be out in a minute." You said and took a deep breath before walking out of the bathroom. "Shouldn't you be on the ice?" you asked.

"Well you were gone for a bit so I thought you were sick or something." He said. "Are you okay?" he asked.

You nodded and then sighed softly. "I don't know. This whole thing with you and Tyler is making my head spin." You admitted.

Patrick looked at you and then bit his bottom lip. "I'm sorry for making you feel that way." He said softly. "Look if you want to go with him, you're free to. It'll just hurt like hell." He said in almost a whisper.

You looked up at him and studied his face. "Why would it hurt?" you asked, trying not to sound excited.

"Y/N, I've liked you since the day I met you. I never wanted to say anything because I thought you didn't feel the same way and I knew it would be hard to date a hockey player. Then I got traded and I had no clue what was going to happen." Patrick said. "I should have said something sooner, I really should have." He said.

You looked at him and a felt a smile forming on your face. "I've felt the same way, Sharpy." You said softly.

He looked at you and smiled. "Wait is this a joke?" he asked.

"No." you giggled. "I wouldn't joke about something like that." You said. "I'm going to go tell Tyler that I can't make it out tonight." You said and started to walk away.

Patrick grabbed your arm gently and turned you around to face him. Before you could ask what he was doing, his lips were against yours in a gentle yet loving kiss. His hands came up to cup your face as he deepened the kiss.

You kissed him back and touched his chest gently, feeling a smile on his lips. As he pulled away gently, he rested his forehead against yours, smiling. "Wow." Was all you could get out.

He smiled and rubbed his thumb over the apple of your cheek. "Wow is an understatement." He said.

You smiled and pushed his hair back gently, placing another soft kiss on his lips. "You better go finish practice." You said softly.

"Don't go anywhere." He smiled and kissed your forehead gently before heading back out onto the ice.

You waited in the hallway for him to be done and when things got quiet on the ice, you figured the guys would be heading in at any time. When the players started coming in, your stomach dropped when you saw Tyler walking over to you.

"Hey Y/N." he said.

"Hi." You said.

"Look I just wanted to apologize for before. I didn't know that you and Sharp had something going on or I would have backed off." He said.

You furrowed your brow at him. "Wait how did..."

"I saw the kiss when coach sent me to look for him." He said. "You're a beautiful girl and Patrick is lucky to have you." he smiled softly.

You couldn't help but smile back and you nodded. "Thank you Tyler." You said. "You know we could still be friends, I'm sure." You said.

"I don't know if I can be friends with a Hawks fan." He smirked and started walking into the dressing room. Before he walked in, he turned to you. "But for you I'll make an exception." He winked before heading into the locker room.

You smiled and shook your head at Tyler's joke. You turned to the door and saw Patrick walking over to you, taking his helmet off. "Hey." You smiled.

"Hello beautiful." He said and kissed you gently. "I've gotta go get changed and then we can go get a bite to eat." He said.

"Okay, I'll wait for you." you smiled.

"Good." He said and headed into the dressing room.

When he changed, the two of you headed to your favorite spot to eat downtown. You both enjoyed your first lunch as a couple. You knew a long distance relationship would be hard, but for Patrick you were willing to make an exception.
