• Chocolate Cake •
Ushijima POV
I did not know this until recently but every year on March 14 there is a day called White Day which is a month after Valentine's Day.
White Day is just like Valentine's Day except the guy is suppose to give something to the girl instead. For Valentine's day, Amu made me some chocolate so I wanted to give her something for tomorrow.
"Wakatoshi you don't need to give her anything extravagant, something simple is enough for Amu," Shikamaru tells me.
"Something simple..." I mumble. "A cake."
"Sure that doesn't sound bad--- wait a minute are you going to buy the cake or make it?" Shikamaru asks me.
"I'll make the cake. Isn't baking preferable over buying the cake?" I question and his face slightly pales.
"...." Shikamaru clears his throat. "In most cases yes, but not in your case. I'm suggesting you shouldn't... you know what no I'm saying that you really shouldn't --"
"I'll make the cake. Girls like it when a guy bakes them something. I read it from a book that it's quite impressive because it shows that you're putting all your love and feelings into it," I tell him and he facepalms himself.
"Don't ever say that again. It's cute when a girl says that, but it's disturbing when you say it," Shikamaru bluntly tells me.
"Okay?" I answer sort of confused.
Shikamaru looks at me then sighs. "Fine bake a cake, but you have to let me supervise you when it comes to cooking," he tells me and I look at him slightly offended by his words.
"Why?" I ask.
"No offense, but you don't want to get anyone sick you your cooking. I'm just saying. Just think of all the times people felt sick after eating your food," Shikamaru points out.
I think about the time when I made food for the boys volleyball team in the training camp and the time when I gave food to Amu when we went out on a picnic. In both cases they threw up after they ate and felt terrible right after.
...
"Fine," I answer.
"Great," Shikamaru says and hands me an apron. "Time to learn from your one and only butler."

Through the past few hours, I felt like I was going through some serious training over baking a cake.
...
Baking a cake shouldn't be difficult, but... I assumed wrong.
Cake Preparation
"Wakatoshi... why are there vitamins on the table?" Shikamaru asks me surprised.
"I will add it into the cake. A person needs to be healthy and have a certain --" I try to explain, but he takes the vitamins and tosses them away into the cabinet.
"Don't ever put vitamins into your food again," Shikamaru states.
"???"
"Wakatoshi!" Shikamaru shouts.
"Okay," I answer.
1st try of making cake
"Stop!" Shikamaru shouts.
"What happened?" I ask as I crack the eggs in the bowl.
"Don't put the egg shells in the mixture!" Shikamaru shouts.
"Aren't the egg shells are a part of the mixture," I point to the box that shows a picture of an egg.
"The box assumes that you know that the recipe for the cake only wants what's inside the egg, not the entire egg," Shikamaru explains.
"Oh I see," I nod my head understanding.
2nd try of making a cake
(Few minutes later...)
"Stop!" Shikamaru shouts.
"What happened?" I ask as I put in another cup of sugar.
"You idiot that's salt!!!" Shikamaru shouts.
"How am I suppose to know the difference? They're both the same color," I ask slightly frowning and Shikamaru points to the labels on the bags.
"Salt!" Shikamaru points to one bag. "Sugar!" He points to the other bag. "Read the labels!"
"Okay I understand," I tell him and start putting in the sugar.
3rd try of making a cake
(Few minutes later)
"Stop!" Shikamaru shouts.
"What?" I ask slightly annoyed.
"How many cups of sugar how you put in?" Shikamaru asks.
"6 cups," I tell him and he face palms himself.
"3 cups," Shikamaru states. "Why did you put 6 cups."
"I want to make the cookies sweet. I don't want the cookies to be bland," I tell him and he looks at me with a deadpanned look.
"I don't want Amu to die from eating too much sugar. You have to put 3 cups," Shikamaru demands and I have no choice, but to follow what he says.
4th try of making a cake
(Few minutes later....)
"Stop!" Shikamaru shouts.
"What?" I ask in an irritated voice.
"What's the temperature on your oven?" Shikamaru asks me.
"400 C" I answer and he facepalms himself again.
"Why 400 C?" Shikamaru asks.
"To speed up the baking process," I answer.
"Check the cake right now," Shikamaru orders and I do what I'm told just to find a black cake. "That's burnt." He observes.
"No it's not," I stubbornly tell him and touch the cake but it easily falls apart.
Shikamaru sighs. "Let me show you how to make a cake."
Shikamaru demonstrates how to make a cake and I admit the cake came out very nice.
"How do you know how to make a cake?" I ask and he shrugs.
"My friend Choji makes cakes as a job so in my spare time I watch him make cakes," he tells me and my eyes widen.
"Teach me how to make a cake," I ask interested in Shikamaru's great skills as a butler and Shikamaru sighs.
"That's what we've been doing," he mumbles.
After a few hours of cooking, I finally make a decent cake that's edible and doesn't seem to appear like it could harm anyone. On the other hand, Shikamaru looks like he's about to faint from exhaustion.
"I hate chocolate cake," he mumbles and lays on the couch grumbling to himself.
I look at the cake with a proud sense of accomplishment. I'm ready to give this cake to Amu tomorrow for her White Day.
Amu POV
(Next Day - White Day)
I'm staring at a cake with fear.
Normally if I were to see a cake I would happily eat it.
...
I stare at this particular cake with fear.
Wakatoshi is my boyfriend and he's great at volleyball and singing... but he cannot cook.
I don't know if he can bake...
Actually I'm not sure what I should be thinking right now. I seen his cooking. It's scary.
"Are there any vitamins?" I ask examining the cake and he shakes his head.
"There isn't," Wakatoshi answers.
Appears to be a normal cake.
"Did you add anything? You know..." I wanted to say strange, but I don't think that would be something my boyfriend would want to hear from me.
"No. I followed the instructions," Wakatoshi tells me and I gulp.
Take the chance.. . take the chance!!!!
"Okay," I take a spoonful of cake and eat it. I chew on and when I do, the cake tastes pretty good.
"This is good," I compliment him and a small smile forms on his face.
"I'm glad," he says with a gentle and my heart skips a beat.
I continually eat the cake to keep calm of my beating heart.
Why does Wakatoshi have to be so adorable!?!?!?!
Ushijima POV
It took me forever to make the cake, but seeing Amu's smile is all worth making this cake for White Day.
