I covered my wide open mouth with my hand
I stared at the blonde haired, green eyed boy that was more like a brother than I friend less then six months ago. I looked at the boy who I had always gone to when I needed help. The boy that was always there for me. The boy who just told me things about him that I would have never known. The boy that kept fighting for me even when I rejected him. The boy that wanted to be there for me and my baby.
The boy that wanted to be with me forever.
"Chloe?" He asked, kind of worried
I removed my hand from my mouth and attempted to speak, but no words were coming out.
I couldn't even begin to explain the mix of emotions running through my already hormone filled body.
Of course I loved drew and I thought he was a sweet guy but I just didn't know if I was ready yet.
"Drew I-"
Without another word he bowed his head, shut the box and put it in the drawer. He exchanged it for a tee-shirt and walked out of the room.
"Drew wait!" I protested, following him out of the room
By the time I reached the first floor he was already standing in the door frame with his keys
i stopped dead in my tracks
"Where are you going?" I whispered
"Out." He replied, not glancing back once
I ran over and grabbed his arm, but he quickly broke free of my grip, walked outside into the darkness, hopped ,in his car, and was gone.
I stared out into the pitch black of the night for a while.
I finally convinced myself to shut the door. I slowly sunk to the floor and banged my head on the burgundy entrance
Tears started streaming down my face as I realized how much of a jerk I was being.
almost immediately there was a fluttering feeling in my stomachs. the baby
I gently put my hands over the spot and just felt as a little human being who could barely think for itself, was almost reminding me that i had a purpose. and right now that purpose was to be there for it whenever it needed me.
"Chloe?"
I peered up through my watery eyes and saw Becca hovering above me. Funny, I didn't even hear her walk over here.
"hi." I said, squinting through the bright hall light.
"what happened?" she asked, leaning down so that our faces were parallel.
I let out a sigh. "drew, he ugh, he proposed" I whispered
she put her face in her hands "he's such an idiot." she mumbled
"no he's not" I said, coming to my senses.
"so where is he?" she asked, looking above me, into the window
"don't know." I said, looking down at my swollen feet
"he'll come around soon" she figured "but you need to get to bed, you've got a big day ahead of you." she said, raising an eyebrow at me
"big day?" I questioned
"Chloe" stretched.
"what?" I asked in defence
"the funeral." she said finally
my blood ran cold. I had completely forgotten about the funeral that I had helped plan just two weeks ago.
I rested my head on the door again
"come on." she said, standing up and offering me her hand
"I want to wait." I said
"for what?" she asked, getting frustrated.
"drew." I said, crossing my arms
"your so stubborn" she declared
she left and came back moments later with a navy blue sleeping bag and a pillow
"here" she said, dropping them on the floor. "now I'm going to bed" and with that she walked up stairs and into her room
I walked over to the sleeping bag and rolled it out onto the floor. I crawled in and grabbed the pillow. It didn't take long for me to drift off to sleep.
