Chapter Five (unedited)
When I Said I was excited for the tutor, I wasn't exactly thinking straight. But a I took the moment to actually think an hour about it- I had realize I would be alone with him
Again
I mean, sure I had helped him five times but it was only because his family owned the university, and somehow they had chose me when I wasn't the top smartest of the bunch
I was just determined and hardworking when It comes to school I guess. But imagine my surprise when the owner came asking for my assistance to help him improve. I was shock, I mean Connor Darcy was the son of the owners of this university. He could continue to graduate with his connections and name but Connor did give me a slight detail about hard work and how he should earn them. They were big on training him and his brothers from button to top without the assistance of their title. I was impress that of his parents an even him for taking every word they said
I couldn't say no, I mean they do give a wonderful share for helping Connor, but that wasn't really why I said yes to their proposition. It was me who took a daring initiative to know him more. It was hard, to initiate something first but Connor didn't know that...
I mean, it was a first step I guess
" she wont stop staring at me, what a creep"
Those words snap me back to reality only to realize what I had done. Two girls at the coffee shop were eyeing me in disgust while I not intentionally stared in thought
They really must think I'm a creep
"Sorry" I whispered out
I blushed when the red head, who had whispered against her friends ear looked at me intimidatingly and my legs shook out of instinct from wanting to leave the cafe now but unfortunately my drink wasn't ready. I could even hear them whispering nonsense and jokes when I turned around. God I wanted to leave badly
"Colby!"
Instantly, I sprang out and took my coffee and of course, one for Connor before I went shooting out of the store like a rocket. This is why I could never socialize with other people. Their complicated just like me but the thing is not everyone is friendly and right now, I really can't find a good person in earth right now
You could say this generation sucks balls when people just stop caring about other people....
I mean, it didn't happen with those two girls but what I'm saying is that people these days have been giving those they can't stand something nasty comments and even remarks. But hey, we like to insult those we can't stand but my point is that the world just seem crazier now when we can't even stand everyone anymore
But I'm getting off topic now
All I could say is that making friends this generation was a lot harder than giving a valentines day card to your crush
With a huff, I began to walk towards my bike that rested comfortably on the side before placing both cups on the basket for safety before I climbed in and began to move. You could say in still stuck on a bike, if I can't fire a car then I'm better with a bike then, although Connor did live live near the university it would take thirty minutes for me on legs pretty much I only have six minutes left till I'm late. My hair whipped against the slow pace of my bike as I rode through the wind. People were chilling, other sat on the gras with their books under their nose and some had their mouth open as they spoke or laugh. The scenery here in Heartfelt was a bit different from where I live since I was used to ranches and animal feces. Basically modern life was a new thing for a country bumpkin
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Connors apartment, more like the hotel he was staying. It was tall, just outside college that only took a ten minute walk and into the busy streets and cars. Although it was noisy, i liked how much I could do anything without people caring if you fell or do anything stupid. Basically your a shadow mixed with other shadows but I did try to stay away from streets like this, they tend to be aggressive with one tiny accidents
Finally, I saw Connors place as I slowly parked my bike just behind the building with a lock of course before I ascended towards the back room and away from peeping people. Connor Darcy wasn't just an ordinary name, their quite famous with how much the father took good care of multiple hotel chambers and with their mother owning the university and half of other schools here.
They are quite a catch
And the brothers....
I never knew anyone other then Connor, since he had been My crush and high school inspiration, but I never took a chance to actually ask about them. I even realize he never likes talking about them
Now that I realize, a frown Egan to mold aga isn't my face as I thought harder. Not even one talk about them and I only knew he has because of Mrs. Darcy who fancies them to death
Somehow my walking paced slow down as I drowned myself with thought that I didn't realize I bumped into someone
Brown eyes sparkle in humor that I couldn't help but blush
"Sorry Mr. Larry, I was out of my head today"
The older man, or should I say the way too much enthusiastic sixty five year old man chuckled as he patted my already messed up hair like I was his cat- pickles before he spun awkwardly
Or should I say, I was awkwardly spun while he laughed oblivious to my boring self
"Oh you cherry chap lass! I haven't seen you for three years!"
"Three weeks" I corrected with a smile. Larry either waved it off or he didn't hear began to shake my shoulders "here for yah Prince Charming ain't cha? I hear he's waitin for you since I saw little old dadily telling old grumph that you were arrivin"
'Grumph' was basically Connors expressionless butler who seemed to hate me, or either he just didn't express much with all that blank stare he gives me. Although he was silent, he was sort of blunt for a butler who should keep their mouth from their masters. And I liked that about him- it made me see he respected My awkwardness and anti socialness that he would even help and cooperate with me when I want to explain things that were hard to explain to Connor
With a laugh I nodded before giving a thanks. Mr. Larry in reply gave a tight bear hug that I was already accustomed with. Since Larry had been the friendliest and the first person I would see every time I visit, I was cool with him
"Larry you old fool!" A woman yelled and just as I turned I saw Larry get a head smack by a purse- his wife's purse. Larry only shook it off before he began to hum against the soft music of the room before he sweep the surprised Mrs. Junking in a classic dance
"Oh what am I going to do you energetic old Fool" she rolled her blue eyes in annoyance but there I saw the love she has for Mr. Larry
"Perhaps a dance and a kiss? And maybe your love for me till death would sound very lovely" my head began to zone out as I turned and smiled. I always love those couple. Through those five visits here, they were always bickering and in the end Larry would smile with a promise and his grumpy wife would even smile when she wouldn't to others
You could say it was the weirdest combination just as the friendship I have with Penny. But seeing how much two different things could give the greatest combo was inspiring and so astonishing. With one more glance, I laughed when Larry gave his wife a surprise dip making her give a startled scream before she began to pound her purse once again
I continued to walk towards the elevator silently, the people blurred out as my focus stayed front and when i closed the elevator, my eyes seemed to caught a a mans back. But what caught me off guard was that the hair and its color seemed familiar but I couldn't even ponder on it when the doors began to close on me, revealing my reflection instead.
Somehow I couldn't explain it, but I was sure he sort of looked familiar. My mind dug deeper for an answer and just when I got nearer to the answer, the elevator made the sound indicating I was on my destination before leaving the small little box. Walking towards the penthouse, I entered the silent room before I shrugged my jacket off. I could still remember the moment I first came into this place, I was too scared and polite that I waited silently beside the elevator waiting for Connor who didn't arrive till ten minutes later. It was my fault since I stood their without shouting out my presence. Cant blame me for getting scared when all but I could tell he was scared as shit to see a stranger in your place
"Connor?" I called out just before I took the tie out of my hair, Connor came running towards the kitchen with a big smile on his face
"and she has arrived!" he opened up his arms and it took me second to understand if he wanted a hug or was that just a some action??
when I didn't do anything, Connor just laughed before he let his arms down with a smile
"Okay so I have two different meals right now so pick. Asian food or Pizza?"
I shrugged not really bothered what to eat as long as they taste edible and delicious " Anythings fine for me"
Connor nodded before he left once again, disappearing behind the doors where I could hear his voice talking to the phone so I took the time to get comfortable as I can before taking all my notes out. Not a minute after Connor came out before he plopped himself next to me. Close to my body may I add
I shuffled unconsciously against my seat, trying to make much space. God forbid I might scream bloody murder when our knees touches, I can even die happy with that. Id be the happiest dead person ever
"So we should start with-"
suddenly a shout came out of nowhere, startling both of us as our head snap towards the entrance
"Were you expecting someone?" I raised my eyebrow at him while I could only see his frustration before standing up in a flash
"That ass" He grumbled
I was curious to know his visitor so I turned and watch as a figure came out- a much larger figure I knew too well wasn't a woman. Suddenly a bulky man came out with the biggest smile I could ever see. It was weird even when he looked like a murderer- without the smile of course
"Brother!"
"Creg!"
"Creg?"
"Girl!"
"HUh?" what? I looked at 'Creg' who was also watching me with a surprise expression before he turned towards his little brother with a grin
"Was I interrupting something?"
"NO!" we instanly yelled before looking at each other. As our eyes met, Connors eyes widen before breaking the contact with a glare on his brothers way
"What the fuck are you doing here?"
"Baby brother! Go back to your crib you rascal"
"What?" Okay now I was confuse and not all that but my heart began to rise when I saw Another man, Who looked younger then Creg come out next. He wasn't that bulky but he looked lean with his glasses on but his appearance definitely screamed smart and sexy
"Who's the lucky woman?" The guy teased before their eyes rested on me waiting for an answer
and dear god I only flushed like I was about to turn into a live firework
"Christian dammit!"
"Okay" I said awkwardly trying to grasp the idea here and why did I feel like I'm being attacked?
"Connor- You there bro?"
I froze once again. How many brothers did Connor have! I wanted to leave especially when all I could see were hot specimen who were trying to kill me with such angelic bodies and faces. Their presence made me hot and this i considered torture
"I think I should go" I said suddenly and Connors head whipped giving me a desperate look which I pretended not to see
"Wait- You have your girlfriend over? you lucky baby duck!"A new voice said which had my back facing them. And when I heard his voice i couldn't help but feel like I heard it before
I wanted to peek. Badly. i wanted to know who he was and so my thoughts won. Taking a tiny peek towards my side, i was met with the bluest eyes I have seen the very night of my birthday
"No way" He breathed before a smile came into his lips before he turned towards the flushed lookingConnor
"you-"
"helping!" Everyone head whipped towards the agitated looking Connor who glared at his brothers before giving me an apologetic one "Shes helping me for finals"
Nobody talked, neither did I who I should say awkwardly standing as they watched me and Connor with disbelief etched on their faces
"I-" My voice died down when i found Coles eyes on me. Those blue orbs straight towards my soul as he looked at Connor with recognition before turning towards me with a frown
"I didn't know you guys were busy..."
"Cole-" i objected, knowing what he was thinking but Connor beat me to it
"You know my brother?" He asked in curiosity and I only blushed once again
"Uh uhm yeah we..."
"Met on your so called frat house" Cole completed my sentence which i gratefully gave a sigh of relief "Which I still don't understand why you have the penthouse when you got your guys there" He finished once again
I frowned then. Now that he mentioned it, I realize how much Connor had always wanted to be in a frat house since that's the only thing he ever talks about in high school- not that i was eves dropping, I just happened to hear things in the same room and people who are near me. Its not like I can unhear them right?
Connor didn't answer, only- his frown deepened before he gave out a low gruff "Could you guys leave?"
"Mom told us about a dinner- why don't you invite your girlfriend-"
"Shes not my girlfriend" Connor objected and that only sentence brought me back to reality. Of course, His girlfriend was at her dorm doing some weird shit with her face right now. I silently huff, being with Connor sometimes makes me forget other people and those important not to forget and right now, forgetting he was taken is a big warning on not to messed with him
"Yeah yeah whatever, coming from a man who doesn't want any woman here" Creg rolled his eyes which earned a snicker from the brothers
"Alright what is it you want?" Connor who had enough of fun demanded
"Bonding or what mom said- she wants us to leave for lunch so be ready" Christian answered fully before he left towards the kitchen. Connor who stood silently watched me with another apologetic expression before he sighed
"I'm sorry Colby- I didn't know-"
"Its fine"I interjected with a small smile. Taking his appearance one more time, I sighed before taking allnmy things. Connor only smiled gracefully before he said his thanks then taking out to change into something fancy I guess, leaving me with his brothers
"I didn't know our baby brother needed tutoring" Creg plopped down on the sofa i was just sat but i kept my focus on my things when I could even feel his stare on me. I only smiled but never answered
"Now I know why he didn't tell us , neither did mom. Our brothers embarrassed" Cole dragged by before he rested his hand on the back of the sofa- facing me 'Its nice to see you again loser" He grinned
"Hi" I replied
"Aww don't be like that, we shared a good night together"
Suddenly the thought of the kiss popped out instantly and I burned mom embarrassment
"Wow- I dont want to know that" Creg interrupted with his eyes wide. Interrupting both if us as we gave a glance at his way
"Its not like that" I jumped with my head shaking furiously but before I could explain, creg has left me and Cole as he buzzed through the kitchen door
and now it was only me and Cole
My cheeks burned when i took everything together. So this is what he meant when he said he knew me. I didn't expect that...
"I've known Connor since high shool- how did I not know you guys were brothers? In fact I didn't know he did have one till Mrs. Darcy explained to me on the starting of school" I explained myself while Cole rested his chin on his hand as he continued to look at me closely. And with this close proximity only made me feel rigid so I took a big step back
"I didn't know you were tutoring My brother- who i believe is too old for that shit"
I Only shrugged and smiled in victory when my bag was finally closed as i was ready to go. Placing the strap on my shoulders, I smiled once again before saying a goodbye leaving the brothers alone. Who would've have know i would have half ran, half walked towards the elevator, trying to get away as possible and just when the doors began to close a hand instantly shot out making me scream in a strangled way
"sweet Jesus I thought you'd chop your arms of" I sighed when Cole came in and stood beside me. The ride was silent- not that i was bothered by it. The only thing bothering me as that I was alone with him in a very tiny box that was taking so long to go down.
"You like him don't you?"
"What" if my head didn't stop from turning, it would have twirled a three sixty degrees, pretty much i wouldn't have a head anymore. But I couldn't help when Cole had stated such thing
"I- i of course n_-not!" I stamper as a blush began to creep in. Gosh fuck my skin and this easily blush thing. Its a nuisance and annoying....
"I know when I see a starstruck girl and i saw it when you looked at him" he smiled
"Shut up. Go away"
not the best comeback but whatever
"Unfortunately I cant" way to state the obvious. I rolled my eyes then
"Okay so now I know you guys are brothers, I get it but how the hell did you know me when I didn't?"
Cole only shrugged but I could see a smile on his face
"That's a secret i cant tell loser" I squinted my eyes at him in a glare "Besides I believe you know that already. Who would have demanded a penthouse when you got your dream frat house on you hands?"
Honestly I didn't know and clearly Cole saw it in my eyes too which he sighed afterward
"God you're naive" he grumbled
"HUh?"
*Ding*
Before I could ask, The doors open and Cole didn't wait for me as he walked out. Not before he turned with a smile
"Theirs only one reason why a man would rent a room and away from campus Colby. I think your a smart girl to figure it out" And then at a second, he was swallowed by a sea of a walking crowd- leaving me in thought
"What?"
And before I knew it- The doors began to close on me again
"Fuck!"
