Chapter One: Cursed with Beauty

"Well, that was fun and all but it's time for me to get going." A beautiful women said with no sound of hesitation in her voice.

"You mean that's it?"

"What? Did you expect there to be more then this? Sweetie, there is no more. I was just bored with the men that I'm usually with. To me this was nothing more than killing some time."

"How? How can you treat people that way?"

"That's simple, I'm Aphrodite, I can do whatever I want."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's how this story starts off, but that's not how this story is going to end. That man who got played is my father, Adam Kings, and that woman who played my father is my allege mother, the goddess of love herself, Aphrodite. One might think that it would be cool to be the child of a well-known God or Goddess, but believe me, it all depends on which God or Goddess you're talking about. Being the child of love only made things hard for me. I was born with extremely good looks according to some people, but to me I looked like everyone else.

"Aden!! Aden wake up! You're going to be late for school!" My father called up to my room one morning. I didn't really want to go to school because of all the trouble my looks put me in.

"Man, I don't want to go to school today."

"Aden Xavier Kings!!"

"I'm up! I'm up. I'll be down in a minute."

"Alright! Hurry up, your mother and I have something we want to talk to you about!"

This can't be good. The last time we had a family talk was when I got into a fight at school. Some upper class men got mad at me because his girlfriend stating sending me letters and flirting with me. I tried explaining that there was nothing going on and that I had no interest in his girlfriend. But of course, he didn't believe me, he only believed what his eyes were seeing. The same thing happened yesterday, but this time it was a lot worse than before. A girl actually dragged her boyfriend along a flat out told him that she was in love with me, and that she didn't want to date him anymore. I bet you can imagine how that went down.

I forced myself out of my bed and walked over to my full body mirror that sat just outside my bathroom door. I looked myself over and saw what everyone else saw. Tall, lean but muscular build, olive toned skin, grayish-blue eyes and dirty blond hair.

"This is what people found so attractive about me. I really don't see what they see."

I stepped into the bathroom to get ready for school. I brushed out my hair and brushed my teeth before changing into my clothes and making my way downstairs to get something to eat. When I got to the kitchen, I could tell that there was something very important. It was written all over their faces.

"All right--I can tell something is really wrong here. What happened? Who died?" I was obviously joking about someone dying, but the look they gave me was the look that I was right. Did someone really die?

"Aden, we heard about what happened at school yesterday. With your classmate and his girlfriend."

"I already tried explaining that to the principal after it happened. I have no, nor have I ever had any interest in that guy's girl. She just suddenly told him that she wanted to start dating me instead of him, and, of course, it started that big huge fight. I like to know why this keeps happening. Since entering Middle School, I keep having these things happen to me. Can I just not go to school anymore? It's pointless anyway."

"No Aden, you still need to go school. Just... be careful today and if anything happens give me call and I'll take care of it."

My dad was acting really weird today. We had dealt with these kinds of things before. I would get into some kind of altercation because some girl or even on some occasions guys, would come up to me and confess their love in front of their partner. There would be some kind of argument or even a few fists thrown here or there, but in the end I would be the one getting into trouble.

"Alright dad... mom, but can I ask you something?"

"What is it sweetheart?" My mother asked as she placed my breakfast in front of me.

"How--- how did you know the two of you were right for each other? What made you fall in love with each other?"

Both my parents looked at each other with surprised looks on their faces. I could tell I caught them off guard.

"Never mind, it was a stupid question to even ask."

"No, it's alright. It was just a little surprising, that's all. Your father and I took it slow actually. At first, I didn't know if I really wanted to date your father. He was a bit of a player, if you know what I mean. But he weighed me down and I agreed to go out with him, and it took off from there. We got married and then you came along. Now here we are, with our handsome sixteen-year-old son."

There was something off about my mother's story, but I didn't push the subject any further than that. I ate my breakfast and then took my leave to head to school. Hopefully today would be better than yesterday, not realizing that my parents had already taken steps to help me understand what was going on.

"I hate lying to him Adam. I, who isn't even his mother, keeps lying to him."

"I know Korra, and it alright. I already made a call. She should be here before Aden gets out of school."

"Her? You don't mean--"

"No Korra, not her. I don't even know how I would even get a hold of her to begin with. I have someone else in mind. I met her through a friend, Steve Trevor. She's agreed to meet with us to have a talk about Aden."

I made my way to school, ignoring the looks I was getting from those around me. They all had hearts in their eyes. People I didn't even know were acting just like everyone at school.

"Why does this always have do happen? Please, please quite staring at me like that. I just want people to leave me alone!"

It felt like my head was going to explode. I just wanted all of this to stop. I want to be left alone and let me live my life, but because of my good looks I don't see any of that happening soon.

"Aden! Hey, Aden!?!"

I snapped back to the here and now to see my best friend Lance standing by my side. He seemed to be the only one who isn't affected by my good looks cures, and I preferred it this way. He seemed to be the only one I could really go to when I needed someone to talk to.

"Oh, hey Lance. I didn't hear you come up next to me. Sorry."

"Man, Aden you were totally out of it there for a second. What happened?"

"Well, you did hear about what happened yesterday at school right?"

"Yeah?"

"Well, the principal contacted my parents and told them about the event that happened. We had a talk this morning and I'm a bit worried about what's going to happen at school today. I really don't want to deal with that girl and her... well, I guess it would be her ex-boyfriend now? it's just getting to a point I'm really thinking about going to online classes instead of going to school."

"You can't do that to me Aden! Tell you what, you've dated guys in the past right? Why not just say for the time being that we're dating. It'll get everyone off your back, and I can deal with the crazy girls and guy who'll be coming after you."

I looked over at Lance in shock. Was he being serious or was he just joking with me to try and lighten the mood?

"Are you serious Lance or are you just playing with me?

"I'm serious man. Look, I'm not completely straight and like I said, I know you've played the field as well. I've played the other side a few times since Middle School myself, and to tell you the truth," Lance suddenly took my hand in his, our fingers intertwined with each other, "even though I don't go gaga like others do, I have found you to be a little cute."

I was taken aback when I heard Lance's words. I couldn't help but give it some though and blush at the same time. This would help me in my situation, but I didn't want it to seem that I was using Lance or toying with his heart if he really did have a crush on me.

"Aden,"

Lance tilted my chin up, forcing me to look up at him. Suddenly he collapsed his lips over top of mine and kissed me. My eye widened in surprise but at the same time I didn't fight back. In the corner of my eye I could see those around us were either blushing or were giving us looks of disgust. I didn't expect Lance to kiss me in front of all these people, not knowing how everyone around us was going to act. When our lips parted, and Lance looked down at me with his steel-blue eyes hiding behind his shaggy black hair all he did was smile at me.

"Listen Aden, even if things don't work out between us, we'll still be friends. You're someone special and precious to me. And it would be my pleasure to have my heart broken by you."

Once again I was taken aback by Lance. It would be his pleasure to have his heart broken by me. What does that even mean in the first place? But he was being awfully sweet about it. Our hands still intertwined together I couldn't help but blush.

"You're an idiot Lance, but I'm willing to give it a try if you don't mind all the problems that might come along with all of this."

"I won't mind at all."

We continued on our way to school; our hands still locked together as we entered the school. Right away, just as I thought, people were staring at us. Some were surprised and others had looks of disappointment on their faces.

"I have a feeling that somethings going to happen today. Something bad."

I'm guessing that Lance saw a distressed look on my face, because his hand tightened around mine. I looked up at him to see the same smile he gave me in our way here. It calmed me in a way and made me think that maybe... just maybe everything was going to be alright.

"Aden?! What is this? After everything that happened yesterday. I thought we had something?"

We stopped and turned to see the girl who confessed to me yesterday. Running behind her was the "ex"-boyfriend, trying to get her to stop.

"I don't want to deal with this." I said under my breath, but it was loud enough for Lance to hear me.

"Then don't. Let's keep going or we're going to be late for class." Lance's grip on my hand suddenly got a whole lot tighter. Now that I agreed to the situation of dating him to get people off my back, I have a feeling that he's going to vary overprotective.

We continued on our way, ignoring the annoying girl as we went. I really didn't want to deal with all of this today. We were almost to our lockers when I felt my free hand being grabbed from behind me. I turned to see that it was the same girl that was calling out to me.

"Please let go." I asked as I tried to pull me hand from her grip.

"Please Aden King, listen to me! I really do love you. I don't want to date that guy anymore; I want to date you! Please, I love you!!"

"No, you don't." I started off in a calm voice.

"Yes, I do! I love you more than anyone else in the whole world!"

"No, you don't. Now please let go." This time my tone was a little more forceful.

"But--"

"He said let go." Lance suddenly stepped in. Pulling me behind him and removing the girl's hand from around my wrist.

The girl glared to Lance and then looked down at mine and Lance's hand still intertwined with each other.

"If you can't tell, Aden is taken now. We're dating so you and everyone else just need to back the hell off of him."

"I don't believe this, not one little bit! The two of you never showed any interest for each other. This is just fake dating, isn't it?!"

The look on Lance's face scared me a little bit. It looked like he was about to hit her. I didn't want that to happen. I didn't want Lance to get into any more trouble because of me.

"Lance, let's go. We'll be late if we stand around any longer." I pulled at Lance to try and get him to move.

"Hey, alright... but first,"

Lance suddenly took his hand that he had intertwined with mine out of my hand and wrapped in around my waist, pulling me in close, grabbing the back of my head by my blond hair and pulled my head back. Before I knew it we were kissing right there in the hallway.

I gripped onto Lance's shirt when I suddenly felt my legs starting to get weak on me. This was so embarrassing, but I couldn't help but hold on tightly to Lance. When we parted I was dazed and confused. I felt like I was in a foggy daze as I stood there.

"Does that answer any questions?! I confessed to Aden this morning and he agreed to go out with me. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have classes to get to."

Lance suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me away after dissing the persistent female. I was still a little out of it, only coming to when we finally made to our lockers.

"Sorry about that Aden. I was a little rough with you back there. Sorry again about that. She--she just made me so angry when she said this was fake dating. But in a way I guess it is. I'm sorry Aden, I've caused you so much trouble because of this."

"No, it's fine. You did startle me at first, but at least you got her to let me go. Thanks for that."

After placing all the things, I didn't need for my first class in my locker I turned to head to my class. But before I could get too far Lance wrapped his arms around me from behind. I tensed up at first but then relaxed after a few seconds.

"Lance, we're going to be late if we don't hurry. Your class is in the opposite direction then mine."

"I know, but I just want to hold you for a second."

"We don't have time for that right now. Neither of us need to get into trouble for being late, especial you. You've been late for your first hour a couple of times this week already."

"I don't care about that, I'm just happy that I can love you unlike all the others who have."

"Lance?"

I turned to face Lance and right away he kissed me on the side of the ridge of my nose, he then kissed my eyelids and then my lips once again. I've kissed Lance so many times today and I haven't tried to pull away once in those times. Although this could all be fake and full of lies, although I might be using Lance for my own selfishness I feel that it'll be alright. Even if I'm the one who ends up hurting him the most. But, in spite of that, I don't want to part with him. But...
