I updated ermahgerd! I think we've all been waiting for the past about 8 parts for this and I'm so glad to finally get this out there and have something exciting to write about!.

Nathan's POV

The five minutes it took for the police to turn up went agonisingly slowly. At each moment I could feel myself getting more and more tense and nervous. I could hardly stand it. I sat outside on the floor, rested my head on my hands and attempted to calm myself down. I couldn't help but think about what could be happening inside that house and it was driving me insane. Every second counted, I was aware of that. I didn't know what state she would be in when I found her but I would try my hardest to do my best by her.

The boys had all arrived which was comforting in a way but they had been told that they couldn't go in with me despite their protests that it could be 'too much'. I understand though and I'm almost glad, glad that I could be the one that found her and saw her but I'm also terrified that she won't be... Yeah.

The police officer I had spoken to before approached me and told me that they were heading in, they gave me a bulletproof vest and told me that if there was a man in a room to press the little button on my jacket to alert the officers to come to my location. They all started piling into the building and I suddenly realised how strange it was. It just looked like a nice little house in the middle of nowhere, nothing special or somewhere you'd take someone who you kidnapped but then again, I suppose that was the point. I followed them in and they dispersed in all directions but I just continued forward because I didn't think any other direction held any more clues than the one in front of me. I continued forward and walked into a kitchen space; it looked like a show room in it's pristine cleanliness. I opened the fridge but there was nothing in there, I searched the cupboards and they were simply filled with a few things that wouldn't expire for a long time. I began to wonder whether we were in the right place.

There were two doorways in the room, I opened the first door and in it was an ironing board, a washing machine and a tumble dryer. I was growing increasingly more anxious and frustrated. I opened the second door and saw a set of stairs that led down into a basement like area. Clueless as to what I should do, I walked down the stairs, careful to make very little noise and peered around the corner. It was a small room, I noticed with a chair in the centre of it. And upon that chair was a body and another body lied on the floor next to it. My heart was racing now, pounding furiously inside of my chest. I stepped forwards cautiously until I could finally identify the bodies.

On the floor was a man who was clutching a dagger in his hand and his throat was slit. I wondered who the man was for a second and pitied him. Then I realised that there was only really one man that it could be, one man who realised that he had no time to escape and took his own life because his other alternative was a life in jail. The man was Alex. An intense shot of anger pulsed through me but that feeling swiftly passed as I remembered why I was really here.

In the chair was Lexi. I wanted to run to her but seeing her paralysed me and I couldn't move. She was covered in blood, more blood than I had ever seen and her clothes were torn. It was shocking and disgusting, she was covered in bruises, cuts and scratches and my heart felt pained just seeing her like that. I couldn't tell of she was breathing and that scared me. After another moment of taking in the state she was in, I finally convinced myself to move.

"Lexi? It's Nathan, I'm here, it's okay now. I found you, it's okay, I promise." I said, my voice was shaking as I stepped closer and closer. I wasn't entirely sure who I was trying to convince, myself or her but I then figured that what I was saying would work either way. I suddenly remembered the button on my jacket and pressed it, immediately wishing I hadn't in case Lexi was okay and I could speak to her without being interrupted. It was a selfish thought, I know, she would need medical attention and I should want her to have it but all I wanted was her to myself.

I stepped closer and knelt down next to her, her ankles and wrists were secured by metal but I took her hand in mine anyway because I wouldn't be able to get her out. I felt the smallest of tremble and I was almost certain that I had imagined it.

"Lexi can you hear me?" I felt sick to my stomach knowing after looking for her for all of this time it could either all be over or all be fixed and now I'd have to find out which one it would be and that would change everything. I squeezed her hand slightly and stared up at her, praying for some definite movements to prove something to myself. The muscles in her face moved slightly and my emotions soared with elation. Her eyes opened ever so slightly and I had never felt more relieved in my life.

"Lexi stay with me. I love you so much, I promise things will get better and no one will ever hurt you again, just stay with me." I felt so hopeful that she would reply and everything would be okay but all she did was let out a quiet moan that was filled more pain than I could imagine.

"You'll get better I promise." I said, I couldn't help but smile slightly but at the same time I could feel my eyes begin to brim with tears of happiness because she was here and alive but also sadness because I was aware that although she was alive, she was in the worst condition imaginable. Her eye lids began to droop down, her head began to pull backwards and I began to panic even more.

"No! No Lexi, stay with me please. You've just got to stay with me." I slapped her lightly on the cheek and her eyes opened again a little more and her head moved upwards slightly.

"It's fine, it's all going to be fine. Lexi I love you so much." I said, my voice cracked due to the amount that I was crying.

"Nathan... I... Love you... Too." She muttered, she could hardly speak and was taking so many breathes to do so and each one hurt her more than I could think about. Her face was contorted with pain and I reach my hand up and caressed her skin in hope to relax her slightly. What she said relaxed me slightly too but there was a small part of me that thought she was just saying it because she thought she was going to die. There was also a small part of me that said what I had said because I thought the same thing. I couldn't give up though, so I kept squeezing her hand tightly in hope that it would shock her enough to keep her alert and awake. That is what you're supposed to do, isn't it? Keep a dying person awake if you can, I mean. I didn't know, I was a singer not a doctor but I would try my damn hardest if it meant that I could live out every hope I had for the future. I wanted to share everything with her, I wanted to travel the world with her, I wanted to marry her, have kids with her, wake up every morning with her and for us to grow old together... And if I had the power to help ensure that future, even in a small way, I would do it.

"I know it's hard but stay with me." I begged her.

"It... hurts." She managed to choke out before she began coughing violently, she coughed up blood. I fumbled around my jacket and pressed the button repeatedly. It was then only a matter of seconds before 2 police officers ran in the room and looked at me expectantly.

"Alex is dead. Lexi is here, she's not good but she's alive. Her arms and legs are secured but she needs medical attention now." I said bluntly, only turning my attention to the men once. They scurried off quickly to go get some help. My emotions were all over the place and with so many of them it made me feel overwhelmed by them and all of them seemed to become dull and I felt emotionless for a little while.

"I'm sorry I didn't protect you but we're getting you out. You can get better and we'll do whatever you want, no one will ever hurt you again." I leaned forwards and kissed her forehead. I was just in time too because soon a man with a tool kit came running in. He made a gesture for me to move and I did as he said although it pained me to leave her side. I couldn't see exactly what he did but I could hear the groaning of metal being forced 4 times and then 2 women and 2 men entered, carrying a stretcher. They quickly lifted her up, careful to be gentle and laid her down and started to speak very quickly. She was still couching which worried me deeply. I could see her properly now: her shirt was soaked through with blood; her jeans had been cut; her clothes were torn as if someone had been assaulting her; her arms were covered in slits, I thought I had seen something familiar for a moment but I had no time to investigate it. Her head was also bleeding, as was the deep slit across her throat. I could feel the contents of my stomach rising but I knew now was not the time so I tried to swallow it down and steady my stomach.

"Internal bleeding... Broken ribs... Bruising... Blow to the head... Deep cuts on lower abdomen... Call the hospital, she'll need to go to theatre straight away." One of the woman said, my heart was racing even more now as she read out her long list of life threatening injuries. They carried her out on the stretched quickly and I followed behind them, careful not to get too close. She was brought upon an ambulance and they gestured for me to follow, I then texted the boys to tell them to follow.

There was a chair in the corner of the ambulance and I slowly sunk down into it. Everything seemed to be moving too fast. The paramedics were rushing about, one pulled her shirt up slightly and I caught a glimpse on 5 very deep slashes across her stomach which made me feel nauseous. They grabbed some cloth and put pressure on the wound to stop too much blood loss but there seemed to be too much blood flowing out to cope with. At the same time, they were hooking her up to various tubes and fluids and speaking to her to try and keep her conscious. They failed at that though because I heard them muttering something about how it wasn't good then speaking louder. They then gave up on keeping her awake and focused on her injuries instead. I felt dizzy and placed my head in my hands and closed my eyes.

"Sir, are you okay? You're rather pale." I looked up and saw a man a little bit older than myself stood in front on me looking concerned.

"Is she going to be okay?" I didn't think about answering the real question. All I wanted to know about was Lexi who was lying on a table unconscious and possibly dying.

"You see, her injuries are very severe. She will have to go into surgery straight away so of course there's always a risk there. I'm not her doctor so I can't give you an accurate prediction but I would say there is a 25% chance of survival but that's just an estimate. If it helps, I've seen one or two people with worse injuries that pulled through." He placed his hands on my shoulder and squeezed it reassuringly. 25% chance of survival... It sounded manageable, I thought, but then realised how small that really was. It was more than likely that she was going to die...

I couldn't bear to look at her any longer so I just leaned my head against the wall and closed my eyes. I wondered if I had said my last words to her already and felt comforted by the fact that her last words to me we're good ones. However I felt like my last words to her would be lies if she didn't pull through.

I'd finally found her though but it seems like I was a little bit too late...

I can write a sequel to Two Shoes and incorporate the other fanfiction idea where I can.

Or

I can tie up this fanfic nicely when it is finished and begin a new fanfiction instead.
