CHAPTER 2

Audrey's POV

15 minutes before they get here and I'm still not ready. I have tried on almost ten different outfits before deciding on a white tank top and a red pencil skirt. I want to make a good impression on these people. Just as I'm finishing my make-up, I hear the doorbell ring. Just in time.

"Audrey, come great our guests!" My dad calls.

"Coming!" I respond and I rush down the stairs. The moment my feet hit the floor I look up and notice the girl staring at me. I must say, she's quite pretty. Her brown hair falls shortly below her shoulders and her brown look at me kindly. We both take in each other's appearance. She too is wearing a pencil skirt but it's green, and a gray tank top. Before I know it, she sticks her hand out and says, "Hey my name is Courtney, but you can call me Court. Everyone else does anyway."

I shake her hand and respond, "Okay cool. My name is Audrey but my friends call me Aud." She smiles at me as i do her and we both burst into laugher for no reason. I automatically like this girl.

The adults look at us suspiciously before her parents introduce themselves as Mr. and Mrs. Williams.

"Dinner will be ready in about 20 minutes, if you girls want to hang out in your rooms, you can," My dad says as he looks at me.

"Okay," I say as I turn to walk up the stairs. A few steps up I realize Court isn't following me, she's just standing awkwardly at the bottom of the stairs. "Come on," I encourage her. She starts up the stairs behind me without a word.

When we reach my bedroom, I walk in but she just stands in the door. I sit on the bed and say, "Come on in. This is my bedroom."

"Okay," She says nervously. I thought we already broke the ice? I guess not.

I pat the space in front of my on my bed, welcoming her to sit down too. She looks around once for before taking a seat on the bed.

"So, my dad said you guys just moved here," She states

"Yeah we just moved in not too long ago," I reply.

"You'll really love it here. It doesn't seem like much now, but once you get to school, you'll never be bored. Do you want to know why?" She asks enthusiastically and I nod. I'm slightly curious.

"Okay, so there are a lot of different school activities and sports and almost everyone does something, that is except for the bad kids but I'll tell you about them later." She seems very interested to be telling me all this but I'm very confused. What does she mean by bad kids? We didn't have any bad kids at me old school. "So anyway, do you play any sports?"

"Yeah, I play field hockey. I have since I can remember."

"I should have guessed considering you have a hockey stick above your bed." She points to my lucky stick and continues, "You should really go out for the team this season. Our players are really good and all the guys check out the hockey and soccer players" She winks. "I play soccer and we do a bunch of workouts and runs with the hockey girls. It's super fun. Oh, but you should stay away from the footballs boys, they only date cheerleaders." She must have notices my confused look because she said, "I know, it's messed up but in my opinion the football guys aren't even that hot and the cheerleaders a just annoying. Both groups are terrible at their sport. It's really pathetic. We're mostly known for our soccer and hockey teams anyway so I hope you're good if you want to make it."

I honestly have no idea what to think about this girl. First she was friendly, then shy, now she won't stop talking. I don't mind much though, I already feel like we're friends.

She must have noticed my shock at her talking. She pause what she was about to say and says, "Sorry if I'm freaking you out by talking so much. My mom told me you'd be going to my school this year and we're in the same grade. I figured I should tell you a little about the school considering you're new. Oh and I recommend staying with me for awhile since a lot the girls can be really mean to newbies. I, on the other hand, am Student Council President and nice to everyone." She says with a big smile. I really like this girl.

Her smile fades as she seems to remember something. "Remember when I mentioned the bad kids?"

"Yeah, what about them?" I ask.

"Whatever you do, stay away from them. They're the kind of people who have parties every weekend just to get drunk, high, or laid." Well this is different. "The girls aren't as bad as the guys but they are the meanest and rudest people you will ever meet. As long as you stick with me though, you should be fine. They tend to not socialize with my group of friends. We're just that intimidating." She whispers that last sentence before we both burst into laugh. I get the feeling that we're going to be great friends.

Right as I was about to tell her about myself, my dad called, signaling the beginning of dinner. Dinner was actually really good although it was boring. The adults just talked about work and places to go in town . I zoned out until Court started telling me about the best places to sop around her. She asked if I wanted to go shopping for school clothes tomorrow and I agreed to have her pick me up her at 1. When dinner was over Court and I exchanged numbers, said are good-byes and promised to meet tomorrow.

I stayed up till midnight reading. I know, it's a dorky thing but I love to read. I love being able to put myself in someone else's mind and live their life. After I put my book down, I think about what Court said about the bad kids. We didn't really have any bad kids at my old school and I knew everything that happened. A few kids smoked but not many. The kids my brother went to high school with, though, were the bad ones. They did drugs and got high and got laid and got into fights. I really hope Court isn't implying they're like my brothers friends but I get the feeling they probably are. Great.

--

The next morning I get up at 7:00 to run. I run for two hours and decide to play some hockey by myself in the park near my house until 11:00. I grad my stick and a ball and head to a place where there aren't a lot of people. I start to practice my hits, flicks and offensive skils. I was always the best player at my old school and was captain from freshman year to junior year. I would have been captain this year to had I not moved. I practice for about an hour before I notice a boy starting at me. Not just any guy though. It's the guy I saw running yesterday and he's coming towards me. He looks mad too. What did I do?

All of sudden I feel a hand grab my shoulder and whip me around. Staring back at me are dark eyes and a smug grin. I begin to scream but a hand clamps over my mouth.

--

Jaxson's POV

The party is bigger than the others I've been to this summer. Then agian, Cali's house can hold a boat load of people. Even after being there for only hour I've hooked up three girls and danced with five. That's a new record. At least I'm starting to feel slightly better.

I find Chance and Conrad talking with a few juniors I laid earlier this year. They were okay but I've had better. When I walk over to them, the girls smile and say "Hey Jax" in unison. Creepy. I ignore them and start talking to my friends about the gym.

My grandpa's gym is the most used gym in town and he makes a ton of money. Everyone from school goes there and the collage kids from not too far away go there too. It's a huge gym too. He put hundreds of thousands of dollars into it. He used to own a business before my he retired. He gave the business to my uncle though. My grandpa had so much money and nothing to do with it. His friends convinced him to build a gym because the closest one was more than an hour away. He bought and old warehouse building in the center of town and made it into a gym. The more people he has come, the more equipment he adds.

Chance and Conrad started to talk about Mason's party. They didn't know I was there and got all the facts wrong. I decide that they don't really need to know what actually happened so I walk away to find another girl to play with.

I'm not disappointed when I find a pretty brunet with red streaks in her hair. I go up to her and start dancing in front of her.

She looks up at me with a wicked grin and says, "Hey my name is Ally. You're Jax right?"

"Yeah how'd you know," I question although I already know the answer.

"Oh come on Jax, everyone knows you! You have quite the reputation," She answers. Of course everyone knows me. It's pay to be the baddest kid in school whose granddad owns the best gym in the county. It also pays to be hot and that I am.

I pull her into Cali's living room and lean down to kiss her. Fourth hooked up. Just as I look into her eyes, their color changes to green with yellow flecks. I back up and shake my head. Where did that come from.

"What's wrong?" Ally asks.

"Nothing, sorry babe. Now, come here would you please," I pull her into my arms and slam my lips into hers. After a few minutes of kissing I walk her down the hall, into a room, and close the door.

--

I don't even remember coming home from the party and am slightly surprised to find myself in my own room. I look at the clock and groan when I see it only reads 7:00. Well, I might as well take a run considering I have nothing better to do today.

Around 11:00 I stop by the park when I see a girl playing field hockey in the field. stand by the soccer net and watch her for a little. Shes actually really good. It's probably Crissy but after watching for awhile, I realize it's not. Crissy is good, but not that good. This girl is ridiculous. Personally, like hockey players because they tend to be better in bed. Soccer players aren't that bad either. I can get whoever want in bed with me though. Girls drop to their knees for me.

Just as I'm about to turn around, I realize who the girl is. She's the same girl I ran into yesterday, whose eyes have been haunting me. I stop dead in my tracks as I see Kyle, Dylan and Tristan walking toward her. They graduated last year and come here just to annoy us. No one like them. Honestly, they're worse than me but I would never admit that out loud.

The guys don't notice and Kyle grabs the girl and turns her around. I can't see what they're doing to her but I know she's scared by the way she's shaking. I know it would be easier for me to let Kyle have her but she's new and there's plenty of other girls for him to pick on.

--

Audrey's POV

"Hey babe, we're going to have some fun," the guy whispers into my ear. I want to scream but I can't with him his hand around my mouth. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I don't think I've ever been more scared in my life. That includes the time when I got lost in the woods for hours when I was seven.

The guy starts to move his hands down my back but stops when someone behind me says, "Let her go," in a deep, threatening voice.

This makes the guy tense before he laughs and says, "Well if it isn't Jaxon Grant. I haven't seen you 'round for a while. Too busy in bed?" The guy smirks and continues. "Anyway, I really don't think you want to mess with me Jax. Remember what happened last time?"

Last time? As in this has happened before? Oh God...

"I said let her go, Kyle," Jaxson says. I really want to know what he looks like.

"Are you asking to start a fight Jax?"

"No, I'm asking for you to let her go!" Jax's voice is menacing and does not sound like someone I would want to mess with.

"Come on Jax, it's three against one. Who do you think is going to win?" Three? I looked behind this guy, whose name I assume is Kyle, to see two more guys. Oh great. Kyle drops his hand from my mouth but keeps a tight hold on me and turns me around.

My mouth opens in shock. It's him. The guy I was running. He is last person I expected to see. Not that I expected to see anyone but still.

"I guess I can see why you would want her Jax. She's quite the catch. Aren't you?" He says to me.

"I, um," I don't have a clue what to say.

"Cat got your tounge?" Kyle asks me.

"What do you want?" I ask weakly.

"Just to get you in bed with me. What else?" I gasp in horror. I've never had sex before and I'd rather not lose my virginity to rape.

Before I know what's going on, Kyle is on the ground and the two other guys back up with their hands raised. I bent down to get my hockey stick and ball.

"Are you okay?" Jax asks with no emotion behind his voice.

"Yeah, thanks. I don't know what I'd do if you hadn't showed up." I smile at him but he doesn't return the gesture.

"Stay away from them, hell, stay away from me too for that matter. I'm no better. Now get back to your perfect little like and forget this ever happen." He snaps and walks away.

Um, okay. I look down at my watch and see that I only have a half hour before Court gets to my house. I run back, shower, and get dressed in under that. Right as I reach the bottom of my steps, the door bell rings and I greet Court. She leads me to her car and I get into the passenger door.

Once we're safely inside the car and on the road, I ask, "Do you know someone named Jaxson?"

I look over at her and her face pales. "Yeah why?"

"I was just wondering. Who is?"

"A bad person, Aud. You do not want want to get caught up with him. Trust me."

Well, I want to know who he is. "Why is he a bad person?"

She sighs and answer, "He does drugs and goes to these huge parties to hook up with girls and get laid. Rumor has it he lost his virginity to and 18-year-old when he was 14. He plays with girls. He'll lead them on only to ignore them a few days later. Every girl is in love with him because he's hot and they all want to tame 'Jax: Baddest Bad Boy of them All.' His brother and his dad both walked out of that family. His grandpa owns the gym close by and apparently that's where Jax spends his time when he's not high, drunk or having sex. Stay away from him Audrey, I mean it." Funny, he told me to stay away from him too."

"Okay. So where all are we going?" I ask.

"Oh you'll see," Court says with a smile.

--

Jaxson's POV

Not in a million years did I ever expect to help a girl. I never have nor have I ever cared to, but she was different. I can't place it, but I know her from somewhere. I have to.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing her again, I tell her to stay away from me. She looked so innocent and I don't want her to get hurt by me. I'm really turning into a softie aren't I? That's going to have to change and I know just what to do.

(well considering I have no life and I'm sick, i decided to post another update simply because i can.)
