I was super excited to see this video. I mean this was my first music video and I got to play Jack Gilinsky's girlfriend in it. After breakfast, I went to get changed and got ready to leave. I decided to take an uber because hello...parking is a bitch. I also decided to post on Instagram because I am finally happy and everything seems to be going perfect.
When my uber told me he was here, I grab my purse and went downstairs and got in the car. We drove further into West Hollywood to the studio.
"Is this fine?" the uber driver said pulling over to the side.
"Yes, perfect. Thank you" I say getting out the car. I start to walk down the sidewalk up to the studio when my phone started to ring. I look down to see it was Jasmine. Probably making sure I got here. "Hello?"
"Mel, are you there?" she asked.
"Yes, I'm outside. About to walk in" I say standing outside of the studio. The walls were glass and I see Gilinsky talking to the man upfront. He looks over at me and I smile then focus my attention to Jasmine.
"Okay good. Then tonight are you driving yourself or do I need to take you?" she said and I was completely lost.
"What's tonight?" I asked.
"Melanie, you and Madison are going out to dinner to show your fans that you don't hate each other, remember?" I actually didn't forget, I was hoping I could get out of it.
"Oh right. Yea, I'll just drive myself" I said.
"Okay. What are you going to wear?" she asked.
"Jas, I don't know but let me call you back after studio time" I laughed.
"Right. I'm sorry, I'm just so excited for you. Okay, love you, talk to you in a little, bye" Jasmine says hanging up. I laugh and put my phone in my purse. It's pretty annoying that since I work in the entertainment industry, I ALWAYS have to put on a show. Who cares if Madison Beer and I aren't friends? Apparently the world does. It's whatever, that's the price I get for working in this industry. I'm always going to have to entertain even when I don't want too.
"Melanie?" someone said and I turn around to see four teenage girls coming up to me holding 7Eleven drinks in their hands. I smile at them.
"You're Melanie Smith, right?" another one said.
"Yes" I say smiling.
"Dating Cameron Dallas?" someone else said.
"Yea"
"Oh my gosh! Can we get a picture?" the tallest girl said holding out her phone.
"Of course" I smiled and they got closer to me.
"We just wanted to say that we are huge Cameron Dallas's fans and not sure why he's dating you" one of the girls wearing a blue shirt said. I stare at her confused. Was that an insult?
"He deserves better and we hope you rot in hell" another one said. I don't understand. I looked at them like you guys aren't trying to get a picture with me? Was this a joke? I didn't know what to say because I was still confused what was happening. All of the sudden, they threw their cups at me, pouring whatever they had all over me.
"WHAT THE HELL" I yelled standing there with my hands up.
"And this is for Madison and Jack" the girl in the blue shirt said. She pours her drink on me as well then throws her cup at my face and it snags my lip. The girl with the camera took a picture then they ran away. I move my dripping hair out of my face and stare at them. That did not just happen. Please tell me that did not just happen.
"MELANIE!" someone shouts and I look over and Gilinsky is staring at me. He looks back at the girls running then back at me. This is embarrassing. This is so embarrassing. I bite my lip, tasting the blood where the cup cut then shake my head. Don't cry Melanie, don't cry Melanie. Damn it Melanie! You're crying. Gilinsky grabs my hand and pulls me into the studio. He drags me down the hall into the bathroom and I couldn't help but to stare at myself in the mirror dripping. How could someone be so mean? What did they accomplish by doing this? I see Gilinsky taking off his sweatshirt and puts it on the counter. He goes and grabs some paper towels and walks over to me and hands it to me. I take them and started dabbing myself off. "What happened?" he asked watching me.
"I don't even know" I say laughing at disbelief that someone could do this.
"Shit Melanie, I'm sorry"
"Me too" I laugh still wiping myself off. I knew I was still crying but I tried to laugh. I rest the towel on my lip and squeezed it trying to dry out the blood. "I'm sorry. I know I should stay to watch the video but I can't. I'm just going to leave" I said. I was just publicly humiliated. I would really like to hide myself in my apartment and not come out.
"Yea, of course. Here change into my sweatshirt" he says giving me his sweatshirt he took off.
"Thank you" I say going into the stall to change. I took off my wet shirt and switched it for Gilinsky sweatshirt and walked out the stall throwing my shirt in the trashcan. I stare at my pants that were still pretty wet.
"Did you drive?" he asked.
"No, I took an uber" I said pulling out my phone to go to my uber app. I knew I was still crying when my screen started to get blurry. Gilinsky grabs my arm and pulls me into his chest and I couldn't help but cry. It's hard dating someone like Cameron Dallas. He has millions of girls that like him. That really like him and they don't want anyone to have him because he's theirs. It sucks to know that because I'm dating Cameron, I'm one of the most hated females. I've never had this happen to me!
"I'll take you home" Gilinsky said rubbing my back. I stayed pressed up against him for a minute till I realize my hair is probably covered in whatever drink and he can probably smell it. I step back and wipe my eyes. I look in the mirror to see my eye-liner smeared, damn and I beat my face so good today. I follow Gilinsky out of the restroom, to see Johnson and Natalie were coming inside.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Johnson said looking at me.
"Melanie, you okay?" Natalie asked me. I look down and tug on my purse. I didn't want to talk to anyone.
"I'm going to take her home" Gilinsky says and we started hearing yelling. We look outside to see a few Jack and Jack fans yelling and of course... papz. Great. "Can I have the keys?" Gilinsky asked Johnson. Johnson gives Gilinsky the keys and looks up at me.
"You going to be okay?" Johnson asked me.
"Yea..." I manage to say looking down.
"Come on Melanie" Gilinsky said tugging my arm and we walk outside. I manage to make eye contact with everyone while walking outside because I was kind of scared someone was going to come up to me and this time throw a brick at my head or something.
"Jack, Melanie are you guys dating?" a papz said getting close to my ear.
"Melanie, what about Cameron?" someone shouts then someone tugs on my arm.
"LEAVE ME ALONE" I shout trying to get through everyone. Gilinsky pushes people out of the way then opens the door for me and I get in and he hurries to the other side. He shuts his door and we were on our way. I lean my head on the window as we drive back to my apartment. Gilinsky didn't say anything the whole way and I appreciated it. I can't catch a break. I pull out my phone and called Jasmine, she answers on the 2nd ring.
"How was the video?" she asked. I took a deep breath. "Mel, what's wrong?" Jasmine says worried.
"Umm..." I say and I can hear my voice shake. "I didn't get to see it. Gilinsky is driving me home"
"What! What happened?"
"Jasmine... out of nowhere these girls come up to me said the meanest things then literally just dumped their drinks all over me" I said trying my hardest not to cry.
"WHAT" she yells.
"I'm covered in whatever, and I feel sticky and this is like the worst thing ever and I'm going home" I start to cry.
"No I understand. I'm in Santa Monica right now but I'm on my way to your place. Damn it Melanie, I'm so sorry this happened to you"
"Me too, I'll see you in a little Jas" I said getting off the phone. I put my phone back in my purse and waited till we got to my apartment. Gilinsky pulls up to the front and parks the car. "Thank you" I said not being able to look at him.
"Melanie I am so sorry" he says.
"Do you want to come inside?" I blurted. I know he shouldn't, but I honestly didn't want to be alone. Nessa had a meeting down in Hollywood today. Who knows how long Jasmine is going to be. Then Cameron's all the way across the states. "You don't have to, but I don't want to be alone..."
"Of course I'll come in" he says. I still don't look at him and I open the door. When Gilinsky walks around the car, we go inside then to the elevator. When we got to my apartment, I unlock the door and went in and Gilinsky followed. I set my purse down on the counter.
"I'm going to go take a shower you can help yourself to anything" I said walking away from him to my bedroom. I shut my bedroom door then went to the bathroom and started the shower. I stared at myself and my make-up smeared and my eyes swollen from crying. I shake my head and got in the shower. I replay over and over again what happened, I'm still in disbelief. When I was done with my shower, I changed into some shorts and a sweatshirt. I put my hair up in a bun. I walk out my bedroom to the living room and Gilinsky is looking out the window. "Hey" I said and he turns away.
"Hey" he says walking over to me. He stares at me and shakes his head. "People are so mean"
"You got that right" I said going into the kitchen.
"I called Aaron, umm... I think Cameron's trying to get a hold of you" he says.
"Oh" I said staring at my purse. I bet my phone is blowing up. "Do you want something to eat or drink?"
"No, I'm fine" he says staring at me. I bite my lip and I go and grab my phone from my purse. Yup, I was right, my phone is literally blowing up. I called Cameron back and he answers it in a hurry.
"Mel?" he says.
"Hey" I said leaning against the wall.
"You okay? What happened?"
"I'm fine Cam, just mean people" I say and he doesn't say anything.
"Melanie, I am so sorry"
"It's not your fault Cam" which it's not. It's his fans fault but I'm not going to say that. "I don't really want to talk right now so can I call you later?"
"Of course babe, just... just please call me, I want to make sure you're okay" he says.
"I will. Bye Cam" I said getting off the phone. I look down at my phone to see calls from everyone. "Is it up yet? The picture of me, or video or whatever" I asked looking at Gilinsky.
"Yea" he says and I shake my head.
"I'm not making a big deal out of nothing right?" I asked.
"No! Melanie, you were assaulted, you have all rights to feel how you feel" he says and I shake my head.
"Just call me Mel" I said staring at him, he smiles and looks down. "I'm sorry, I don't want to keep you captive so if you want or need to go, feel free" I said walking pass him sitting on the couch.
"It's fine, I'll wait so you're not alone" he says sitting down on the couch as well. "Cameron Dallas's fans?" he asked.
"Yup. And you know, Andrea Russet warned me about them. I didn't know that they would physically try something"
"Yea, when Andrea was dating him, some fans broke into her house. Luckily she wasn't home" he says and I look at him scared. Oh my goodness! They ACTUALLY broke into her house! "Oh God Mel, I didn't mean to scare you. No that won't happen to you"
"You know... I don't really want to talk about it right now" I said leaning my head back. Why are people so crazy? "How are you? Like I heard about... you and Madison" I asked.
"Uhh... I'm good. We've been having so many issues" he says and I stare at him. "Lost a lot of good friends because of her" I continue to stare at him and he's staring at his hands. He has to be talking about Cameron. Gilinsky looks over at me and just stares at me. "Who are we both kidding? I shouldn't be here" I pull my knees up to my chest and looked away from him.
"We're friends...and you basically rescued me today" I said. Then I hear yelling and I hear my front door open. Shit, I forgot to lock it. Then I hear running down the hallway and I started to freak out so I immediately jump over to Gilinsky. Nessa appears around the corner.
"MEL" she says and I felt relieved to see her and not a crazy fan actually coming to break inside my house to kill me.
"Damn it Nessa, could you knock and not run in like you're about to kill me?" I said.
"I'm sorry, after I heard, and you weren't answering your phone, I got worried" she says. I took a deep breath and look over to see I was right next to Gilinsky, and I was basically suffocating him.
"I'm sorry" I said moving away from him.
"It's fine" he says. I get up and Nessa wraps her arms around me and I hug her.
"Please let's not talk about it, I don't want to start crying again" I said and she laughs and rubs my back.
"Okay, I won't" Nessa looks at me and tries to smile. "But I am sorry that this happened" I shake my head and went to sit back down on the couch. Nessa walks over to Gilinsky hugs him then bends over to kiss his cheek. "I don't know what happened or what you did, but thank you for taking care of her" she says and he smiles.
"Of course" Gilinsky said smiling. Nessa sits on my coffee table and looks at me.
"What's happening now?" she asked.
"I just want to sit and relax, I don't want to do anything. Jasmine is on her way" I said.
"Alright. Well, since he's here I'm going to go and get us something to eat so we can stay in all day" Nessa says standing up and I smile at her. "Jack, would you like something?"
"No, I'm fine" he says.
"Well, I'll be right back Mel, I swear" Nessa says walking back down the hall. Gilinsky stands up and walks around the coffee table.
"I'll go lock the door" he says and I smile. He walks down the hallway and I lean my head back on the couch.
I wish Cameron was here.
