"I'm not doing this. Claire is the best thing that's ever happened to me, and I'm gonna do anything and everything to make her happy. And you want me to make our entire relationship a fling?! She's not a girl I picked up off the streets and slept with, Catherine. SHE'S MY LIFE," he slammed his hands down on her desk and looked her in the eye.
"Well, just pretend then," she stated calmly.
"PRETEND?! ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?? DID YOU NOT LISTEN TO WHAT I JUST SAID?!"
"If you don't do this, I'm firing you."
She simply smiled at her choice of words, I wanted to punch her, but I knew I couldn't.
"Okay," he replied after a few moments.
"Okay?" She stared in disbelief.
I stared at him in disbelief too.
"If I have to get fired, from the best job in the world, and be with the love of my life, I will. If that's what it takes," he grabbed my hand and we walked out of the room.
But Catherine looked terrified, she was just threatening him. He didn't mean it, did she?
