Chapter Forty Six
“Seriously. Am I the only person here who wasn’t able to make that bloody egg to do a goddamn cartwheel?” Marlene asked, completely annoyed as she crashed onto her bed. Lily rolled her eyes as she watched Marlene do so.
“I’m sure you weren’t the only one M.” she said, Alice nodded in agreement so did Arianna. Marlene rolled her eyes
“Oh really?” Lily, Alice and Arianna nodded again “Someone did it even worse than me? Uh guys, I made the egg bounce instead of making it do a cartwheel and then it landed on the perfectly clean floor.”
“When you think you did extremely bad always remember: Peter Pettigrew is always there to make you look good.” Arianna said, Alice and Lily nodded; Marlene thought about it for a moment,
“I almost forgot about that.” She said, she looked up at Arianna “Thanks A.”
“No problem.” Arianna said with a smile
“What did Pettigrew do by the way?”
“He made the egg crack on his examiner’s face.” Alice said in a tone as if it was something normal. Marlene laughed so did Arianna as she brushed her hair, it had been quite a tiring day. All morning they had taken up their written Charms O.W.L.s and then just a few minutes ago they had their practical exams.
“Well that’s Day one down.” Arianna said as she put her brush away and headed to get her books “Now it’s time to get ready for Day two.”
Marlene gave an overdramatic sigh
“Transfiguration.” She said with a dramatic shiver. Lily rolled her eyes
“It’s just Transfiguration.” Lily said “Now if you’ll excuse me ladies, I’ll just be at the library I prefer to do my revising there, where I won’t be able to hear Marlene McKinnon whine as she studies.” Marlene sat up immediately
“Ah but you’re in luck Lily Evans!” she said happily as she hopped off of her bed and grabbed her bag “I’m coming with you! I need someone to teach me, Haha!” Lily groaned as she headed out of the room with Marlene following her happily, “See you later guys.” Lily grumbled
“Hey, wait! I’m heading there too!” Alice called as she grabbed her bag and headed for the door, she looked back at Arianna who was just watching them go “You coming A?” Arianna shook her head
“Nah,” she said as she crashed onto her bed “I’ll stay here, I like having the room all to myself. Besides, I’ve already revised for Transfiguration.” Alice shrugged
“Suit yourself.” She said “If you need us, you know where to find us.” And at that she closed the door and left. Arianna stared at their dorm room ceiling, taking in the quietness and stillness. It didn’t take long before the “tranquility” started to scare her, she hated to admit it but ever since she became friends with the Marauders, she started to find quietness boring and in a way – annoying. This was actually quite odd, considering that before she went to Hogwarts, her life was pretty quiet.
After a few more minutes Arianna got up from her bed and grabbed her bag. She thought of going to the library but decided against it. She had been camping out there ever since December, and her routine was getting quite redundant.
“Guess I’m staying here then.” She said to herself as she sat on the floor and started to take out her books from her bag. Once she had started studying, there was nothing but the sound of her turning the pages of her book and her quill scratching on her parchment as she wrote. It was like that for a couple of minutes, the thing that ruined the silence was a series of knocking on her door.
“It’s cool M, you can enter.” Arianna said, but the knocking still didn’t stop. She sighed and got up, Maybe it’s just Lily with a lot of books, she thought to herself as she opened the door. But it wasn’t.
No one was there.
“What the…” Arianna said to herself as she looked around. No one was there. There wasn’t a single person in the hall. She headed towards the stairwell that lead to the common room, to see if anyone was there but as expected, she saw no one. Everyone was too busy studying at the library.
A bit annoyed, Arianna headed back to her dorm.
“Must’ve been some First years, playing some prank…” she muttered to herself as she got inside and shut the door, when she turned around; she was a bit surprised to see a familiar black dog sitting in front of her, wagging its tail happily.
“How did you get in here?” Arianna said, crossing her arms. The dog closed its eyes and in a blink of an eye, it wasn’t a dog standing in front of her anymore; it was Sirius Black.
“I was kinda expecting a better welcoming.” He said smirking. Arianna rolled her eyes. “Number three.”
“Whatever.” She said “Answer the question. How did you get in here? I thought boys couldn’t even set a foot on the girls’ staircase? Is there something you aren’t telling me?” Sirius gave her a look, which made Arianna grin.
“I am a man, I can assure you that.” He said with a huff “Anyways, boys really can’t set foot on those stairs, it turns into a slide. Prongs and I learned that the hard way –“
“Hard way?”
“Shut up. I’m talking.”
“Sorry.” Arianna said pouting; Sirius smiled and messed up her hair “Meanie.”
“I get it from you.” Sirius said “As I was saying, the stairs don’t work the same for animals. It doesn’t care what gender you are. It didn’t turn into a slide when I went on it a couple of minutes ago.”
“Ohh… I see.” Arianna said, she then walked back towards her spot on the floor where she was sitting at earlier “So uh… what brings you here anyway?” Sirius shrugged as he walked around the room
“I was bored.” He said simply “Your room is a lot cleaner than ours. Not that ours is messy –Well it is – Moony makes us clean it all the time though.”
Arianna just nodded as she continued her work. Sirius looked back at her and gave a dramatic sigh. He walked over to her and grabbed the book she was reading. Arianna narrowed her eyes at him.
“Hey! I was studying!” she said as she tried grabbing the book from his hands, Sirius rolled his eyes
“You study all the time.” He said “Can’t you at least spend some time with me?” he said, pouting and giving her the ‘puppy dog eyes’ a thing she always did to him. Arianna rolled her eyes “Number one.”
“I always spend time with you. Now give me my book back.” Arianna said, still trying to get her book, Sirius tossed the book to his other hand and held it away from Arianna even farther
“You do.” Sirius agreed “In the library.” He said giving her a look. Arianna rolled her eyes again “Number four.”
“Well, we go around the grounds after I study!” she pointed out,
“Yeah, and half of the time you’re unconscious because you always fall asleep.”
The two of them were on the floor now, Arianna was practically on top of Sirius; she still wasn’t stopping on trying to get her book back.
“Well what do you want me to do?” Arianna said, annoyed. Sirius grinned and then suddenly kissed her on the lips. “That.”
“You want me to kiss you?” Arianna said, staring at Sirius who seemed to think about it
“It’s good enough I guess.” He said, Arianna sighed
“Fine.” She said, defeated. She then gave him a quick kiss “Now can I have my book back?” she said, staring into his grey eyes that twinkled mischievously. Sirius grinned
“Nope.” He said, Arianna groaned
“Fine. You wanna play that game huh?” she said, narrowing her eyes at him. She had her forehead against his, they were only a few inches apart but Arianna closed that little space between them. She wrapped her arms around his neck and started kissing him slowly, she felt Sirius snake his own arms around her waist. She bit his lower lip and when she felt him kissing her back, she pulled away and started trailing kisses on his neck. She then felt Sirius moving, before she knew it; he was on top of her now.
She ignored it and held his cheek with her left hand and started kissing him again, while her other hand found its way through his hair. The room was starting to get hot, Arianna felt herself catch her breath a couple of times but ignored it and continued kissing him. She had never kissed him the way she was kissing him now, it was full of passion and when she finally pulled away both of them were out of breath.
“So, can I have my book now?” she said as Sirius rested his forehead against hers, still out of breath himself. Sirius laughed and kissed her again. “I’ll take that as a no. But I guess that’s fine with me.” She then started kissing him back, Sirius pulled away; smirking.
“Weren’t you supposed to be studying?” he said, Arianna pulled her arms away from his neck and crossed them
“Well, if that’s what you would rather prefer….”
“I was kidding!” Sirius said, he then kissed her neck. Arianna laughed as she ran her hand through his smooth hair.
“That’s what I thought.”
“Okay kids that’s enough.” Sirius and Arianna looked up to see, James Potter brushing himself off, with Remus Lupin next to him along with Peter Pettigrew “The two of you have had your fun.” Arianna and Sirius both rolled their eyes “Number five.” Sirius said, Arianna ignored him
“What are you guys doing here?” she asked, her arms crossed. James copied her and crossed his own arms
“Don’t make me look like the bad one young lady,” he said in a mock ‘stern’ voice “Remember, I wasn’t the one who got caught doing something with her boyfriend that could have lead to you-know-what.”
“That’s an exaggeration.” Arianna said darkly “Right Sirius?” she said, turning to Sirius and giving him The Look. Sirius nodded immediately.
“Yes. Yes it is an exaggeration.” He said obediently. “Now shut up Prongs, you’re ruining her mood and I won’t be able to kiss her again if you do.”
“Fine, fine.” James said waving a hand dismissively, “Moony was right –“
“I always am.” Remus reminded
“Yeah, yeah.” Said James “Anyways, Moony was right.”
“Right about what?” Arianna asked as she started putting her things away. With the Marauders here, her chances of getting to study was extremely low
“That if we didn’t enter sooner the two of you would have…. Done some things….” Arianna just ignored him, it was useless to argue with James; she learned that the hard way.
“Seriously Prongs. Is your mind that corrupted?” Sirius said as he jumped onto Arianna’s bed, he turned to his side and started messing with the things on her bedside drawer
“My mind is not corrupted.” James said as he walked around the room “I am simply stating things that are quite possible to happen.”
“Whatever.” Sirius said as he hugged one of Arianna’s pillows “Your pillows smell good by the way Arianna; they smell like your hair.” Arianna stared at him weirdly but decided not to comment, she just watched as James walk around their room, “observing” their things. Remus just looked around and stood next to Arianna and Sirius, Arianna could tell he didn’t really like the idea. Peter on the other hand just sat in one corner.
“I’ll ask again…” Arianna started “What are you guys doing here?”
“Well, I didn’t really like the idea but I had no choice,” Remus started “Prongs had always wanted to see what the girls’ dorms looked liked, especially Evans’ we’ve tried getting up the stairs numerous times but of course all our plots were unsuccessful.”
“I’m guessing you used your animagus forms and James had to carry you on his back Remus?” Arianna guessed as she watched Remus, who wasn’t really touching anything. Remus shook his head.
“We used James’ broom.” He said “We thought of the animagus thing though but –“
“Padfoot, being the selfish prat he is didn’t tell us it works.” James finished for him; Sirius threw one of Arianna’s pillows at him
“I FORGOT to tell you guys, alright?” Sirius said “It was my first time to try it.”
“You could have used the mirror.” James said darkly, Sirius narrowed his eyes at him. Arianna personally didn’t know what the mirror was but decided not to ask.
“You would have forgotten too if you were making out with Evans.”
James thought about it for a moment
“Good point.” He said eventually, he then shrugged it off and continued walking around “Your room is really clean.” James commented
“And your bathroom smells good.” Peter squeaked from the bathroom door
“Haven’t seen that part yet.” Sirius said from Arianna’s bed
“And it seems really organized.” James continued
“Ours would be too if you guys would just listen to me.” Remus said, rolling his eyes “Prongs don’t you find what we’re doing a bit immoral? I mean, we’re inside someone’s room without their permission.”
“Correction Moony,” James started “We do have their permission. One of the owners of the room is with us remember?” he said gesturing to Arianna, all eyes were on her. Arianna sighed.
“Fine you can look around.” She said, James grinned
“Thanks A.” he said happily, Arianna gawked at him
“Since when did you start calling me A?”
“Well, I heard Evans call you A the other day and well I thought that only your close friends call you that, so I thought of calling you A too so Evans will think we’re somehow good friends and that we aren’t actually forcing you to tag along.”
“You have issues James.”
“Be proud.” Remus said “It’s the first time he actually made a theory that isn’t insane.”
James just rolled his eyes and continued his sleuthing. “I can tell your room is really organized.” He observed, Arianna shrugged “Lily’s a neat freak.”
“Maybe that’s another reason why she hates you.” Sirius said “She’s a neat freak and you’re a slob.”
“Ah, but opposites attract my friend. Always remember that.” James said with a wink, he then walked over to one of the beds “I’m guessing this one is Evans’ bed?” Arianna nodded, James stared at everything on her bedside drawer, the picture frames, and the books she was reading. Everything that was on it. “What’s a Shakespeare?”
“He’s this muggle writer.” Arianna said, James just nodded. He was completely engrossed in Lily’s things. Arianna could tell he was really fascinated.
“Bet you a galleon he’ll hop on her bed and hug her pillows.” Sirius said to Remus, grinning. Remus gave a knowing smile and crossed his arms
“Hmmm… I say he’ll stare at the pictures first and then grab them and say how beautiful she looks.” He said “But anyways, deal.” Arianna stared at both of them indignantly
“What?” they said in unison
“Well firstly,” Arianna started “Remus, you’re a prefect. Aren’t you like… not allowed to encourage that?”
“He needs some fun once in a while.” Sirius said
“And we’ve had this conversation lots of times Arianna,” Remus said “Now we shall find out who’s actually right…. We all know who’s always right though…. Right Padfoot?”
Sirius rolled his eyes
“Whatever.”
“You know what Remus?” Arianna said “You would get along with Marlene; she always gloats about her always being right. She only says she’s right about people’s social lives though.”
“You two should get together.” Sirius said, Arianna nodded happily in agreement. Remus just rolled his eyes
“Sorry Arianna, I’m already having a hard time controlling James and Sirius; I think me having a social life isn’t a good idea.”
“Nonsense!” Sirius said “We can handle ourselves.” Everyone knew that was an understatement.
“Still.” Remus said “Besides I’m not interested. Marlene is nice and all but I kinda find her a tad bit –“ he cut himself off midsentence at the sight of James hugging one of Lily’s pictures. Remus turned to Sirius with a grin plastered on his face, Sirius sighed and reach for his pocket
“I know, I know.” He said as he gave Remus as promised, five galleons. Arianna just shook her head as the three of them watched James hop onto Lily’s bed and hug all her pillows.
“I feel like I’m on cloud nine.” James said happily. “The only thing missing is Evans lying next to me, telling me after all this time she had always loved me, and then me telling her that I love her too and then we –“
“Okay, we get it Prongs.” Sirius cut in “No need to elaborate on the details. I think we wouldn’t want to know the rest of it.”
Remus, Arianna and Peter, who was still across the room, nodded in agreement.
“Whatever.” James said, rolling to his side; still taking in everything he had seen. “But I’m serious. The only thing missing is her lying next to me and everything will be absolutely perfect.”
“Yeah? Well I think you’re about t get your wish.” Remus said a bit nervously, James sat up, so did Sirius “What do you mean?” James asked,
“I can see Evans’ hair from here. We left the door open remember?” Remus said, pointing towards the door. Confused, Arianna headed towards the door and saw Lily and their other roommates about to go up the stairs; she looked back at the Marauders who were now panicking.
“What are we gonna do? What are we gonna do?” Peter said frantically
“The cloak. Prongs where did you put the cloak when we got in?!” Remus said, James then started for the floor, “For Merlin’s sake.” Sirius cursed as he too got onto the floor to help his best friend, Arianna did a face palm. She grabbed her wand from Lily’s desk and sighed.
“Accio invisibility cloak.” She said simply and as expected, the silvery cloak flew to her hands; she then threw it towards Sirius who caught it with ease “Didn’t thought of that one.” Sirius said sheepishly, Arianna just rolled her eyes “Number six.”
“Whatever.” She said “You guys should get going, you don’t want Lily and the others to see you guys now don’t you?”
“Fine, fine.” Sirius grumbled as Arianna ushered the four of them towards the door “Oh by the way…” he then kissed her once again but before she could kiss him back; James rolled his eyes and grabbed Sirius’ shoulder
“Yeah sorry for cutting it short but we need to go.” He said as he pulled the cloak over the four of them
“But, wait.” Arianna said, pulling part of the cloak up “How will you guys leave? I mean I’m sure even if you are invisible Lily and the others will still feel it if you ran across them on the stairs.”
“We know what we’re doing A.” Sirius said with a wink
“Yeah,” James agreed “I never understand why you always underestimate us…”
Arianna just shook her head, and smiled at the Marauders who were smiling back at her. No matter how insane they were at times, in a way they really were her friends. She took one last look at Sirius and kissed his cheek
“See you later S.” she whispered, Sirius smiled
“See you later A.”
And at that she let go of the cloak and the four boys disappeared from. She leaned against the door frame. “S stands for ‘Slave’ by the way.” Arianna called, she wasn’t sure if Sirius could still hear her but she still said it.
“I know.” She heard Sirius’ voice say from the stairwell, Arianna just laughed and headed back to her dorm just as Lily and her two other roommates finally made it up the stairs.

I have finally updated! As usual, this hasn't been edited yet; I'll edit it later XD(I am a lazy person please forgive me) My exams went surpisingly well, my studying paid off. They were quite easy so I'm really happy because I think I'm gonna get good grades heehee :) gah enough story telling of my life, it's boring :))
