Kakashi
Rin was calm as she listened to Shikaku explain the current situation. Sakura was carefully undoing the bandages around her eyes as she sat forward, listening intently. With her other injuries healing so quickly Sakura became concerned if we kept the bandages on for too long we would baby the injury and slow the progress.
"I had nominated Kakashi for our temporary Kage while Tsunade is still comatose, but Danzo was quick to throw his name in the ring." He explained.
"And the Elders?" Rin asked.
"Backed Danzo all the way. It wasn't much of an argument considering all this has happened under Tsunade's rule, Danzo just had to stir the pot a little more. Keep them afraid" Shikaku continued.
"Danzo has never been your biggest fan Rin, and I hate to say it but it might be best if you made yourself scarce. Just until Lady Tsunade comes around" He suggested. The thought made my heart sink, but Shikaku did have a point. With Danzo acquiring so much power Rin may not be safe here for much longer. Rin sighed, keeping still as Sakura rested a hand over her eyes. I noticed her flinch as Sakura's hand faded to green
"I'm tired of running away all the time, besides Danzo is nothing to be afraid of" Rin replied.
"But Rin, without Lady Tsunade..."
"He couldn't break me then and he won't break me now" She said firmly.
"Plus I still have my bargain, Danzo wouldn't be so foolish as to challenge it directly." She reminded and I found myself agreeing. If he made Rin disappear the truth would get out and that wouldn't aid Danzo in his attempts for power.
"Unfortunately you're still somewhat right. Danzo in power will put strain on the deal. We agreed that they can't execute me but that doesn't account for so-called 'accidental' deaths in the field"
"I wouldn't put it past him" I agreed. With Danzo in charge, sending Rin on suicidal or fake missions was now in his power.
"When we were younger, you know when Sasuke and Kakashi-Sensei were both in the hospital after battling with Itachi after the third passed" Sakura said suddenly.
"Danzo came for you then didn't he?" She asked.
"Yeah, why?" Rin replied.
"That morning, do you remember what Neji told the guards?"
"To shove it?" Rin replied and Sakura rolled her eyes.
"No, he said since there is no present Hokage you no longer fall under the jurisdiction of the village since..."
"She's part of a high Clan" Shikaku realized and Sakura nodded.
"One problem, with Itachi gone that still leaves Sasuke as the Head of the Uchiha. Without the Head of the clan present Rin's words are useless" I pointed out and it was silent again.
"The Hyuga owe me a favour" Rin said slowly.
"What good does..." She raised her hand and I fell silent, letting her piece together a plan. Sakura lowered her hand from Rin's eyes and tilted back her head.
"Okay, you can open them" She instructed and Rin slowly obliged. She squinted at first then rubbed her eyes before blinking a few times. She looked around the room and caught my gaze. Her dark eyes staring straight into mine as she grinned.
"How's your sight?" Sakura asked.
"It's fine, thank you and just in time too" Rin replied.
"In time for what?" Shikaku asked.
"In time for me to become the Head of the Uchiha" She finally said and all our eyes were on her.
"Look there is only one other High Clan in Konoha, the Hyuga and I just saved their heir. Hinata's father is going to want to repay me and he'll want to make it big. If he acknowledges me as the Head of the Uchiha it could slow down whatever Danzo might be trying to plot against me" She explained.
"And if he wants more then after High Clans are the nobel clans; we have the Nara, the Yamanaka and the Akamichi. Between Sasuke and I, I think I have the advantage here for their support" She continued.
"Look this won't fix everything, I know that but it will slow things down. Sasuke then stays my problem, and Danzo will have a harder time plotting against me if I'm mid-negotiations with the Hyuga" She said firmly. I glanced at Shikaku who shrugged.
"It could work, and I have no problems acknowledging you as the Head of the Uchiha but you will have to ensure that Hinata's father will back you as well. Without the Hyuga we'll be right back where we started" He replied.
"I'm not worried about the Akamichi, but after pulling rank on Inoichi I doubt he'll be in a bargaining mood."
"With Choza and I backing you, Inoichi will agree to acknowledge you as the head. Besides he can't deny that creating alliances with the Uchiha Clan are often beneficial" Shikaku assured her and Rin frowned slightly.
"It's basically just me though, how beneficial can that be?" She asked. Shikaku chuckled.
"Look what you've done for this village, plus you've managed to restore the Compound to its former glory, and one day you'll start a family of your own. The Uchiha will live again Rin and this time with you as their leader" Rin smiled slightly and nodded.
"Alright, I need to get dressed and get a meeting with Lord Hiashi. Sakura?"
"I'll clear you to leave, and your ANBU friends brought you a new uniform but they still haven't been able to track down a mask." She replied as she picked up a box from the ground and set it on the cot.
"Alright" She said firmly.
"Let's do this"

Rin
I hadn't seen Shikamaru yet, not since the first day he came to visit and unfortunately right now I couldn't go looking for him. I needed to put this plan into action before Danzo caught wind of it. Shikaku was gathering the others while I met first with Hiashi. The Hyuga Estate had been destroyed in the battle, but the compound remained unscathed since it wasn't within the village limits. The elder's alienation of the Uchiha actually helped with something.
"Princess Rin" I turned when the door to the meeting room slid open. I bowed as soon as I saw him.
"Lord Hiashi, welcome" I greeted before standing straight. I noticed him looking around the room as he stepped in followed by Neji and a guard I didn't recognize.
"I haven't been here since the negotiations for what would have been your marriage to Neji" He mused and I smiled slightly. I noticed Neji glance quickly at the ground and held back a laugh.
"A lifetime ago it seems" I replied.
"Yes" He agreed and I noticed him look me over as he took a seat across from the tea I had set up. One of his guards had remained by the door while Neji stood a few steps behind him.
"You look like your mother" He commented and I smiled slightly.
"You would have made a fine bride for my nephew, is their..."
"Uncle, please," Neji said suddenly and Hiashi seemed to suppress a laugh as I sat across from him. I poured the tea for both of us before sitting straight.
"The negotiations for that fell apart years ago Lord Hiashi, maybe it's best we leave that in the past" I replied calmly and he nodded slightly, his attention returning to me.
"Very well" He agreed.
"Ko, my daughter's guard, has already informed me of your actions during the attack" He continued.
"It was my..." I stopped speaking, tensing slightly as he leaned forward and realized he was bowing to me. This was unexpected, for a High Clans Head to bow to someone of lesser status well it was almost unheard of. I glanced up at Neji who seemed just as startled. Hiashi sat straight again and I noticed a soft smile come to his face.
"Thank you for saving my daughter, I am truly grateful for your return to the village. Without you who knows what could have happened at that moment. The Hyuga owe you a great debt, I owe you a great debt." He said firmly. I smiled slightly and nodded.
"That's actually what I wanted to discuss." I replied.
"As we speak Danzo is being named as the temporary Kage. We don't know when Lady Tsunade will wake, and Danzo has never supported the Uchiha. While he wouldn't attack directly it still leaves me at a disadvantage." I explained.
"You are aware of the old laws Lord Hiashi, that in times of crises those belonging to a High Clan fall under the jurisdiction of their clan's Head. Right now that is Sasuke and without him here I fall under the village's control, under Danzo's control" I continued and he nodded slightly.
"Therefore I would like to be named the Head of the Uchiha Clan. Now I understand that traditionally it would fall to me only on Sasuke's passing and I know that I'm significantly younger than previous Head's but..." I stopped speaking when he raised his hand. It was silent then, his light eyes meeting mine. At first, I was just scared he would say no but somehow this silence was more unnerving. I felt my heart sink as he got to his feet. I made a quick glance to Neji who nodded.
"Uncle, if Rin becomes head of the Uchiha it can prove beneficial when she has..."
"Silence" He ordered and I found myself biting the inside of my cheek as I got to my feet.
"Lord Hiashi please..."
"The Head of a High clan does not beg" He interrupted and I found myself at a loss for words.
"Princess..." He paused then.
"Forgive me, I should say Lady" He corrected.
"Lady Rin" He said, restarting his sentence.
"I, Hiashi Hyuga, as the present Head of the Hyuga clan will from this day forward agree to acknowledge you Rin Uchiha as the Head of the Uchiha Clan." I stared at him as he smiled.
"You have proven yourself more than worthy of that title Lady Rin, I look forward to seeing the future of the Uchiha flourish under your command" He added. I continued to stare unsure of what to do, Neji made a coughing noise snapping me from my trance and I quickly bowed.
"T-Thank you Lord Hiashi" I managed to spit out before standing straight again.
"I understand the Uchiha-Hyuga relationship is no longer what it once was, but I would like to rebuild it and to begin I offer the compound for your clan's use until the Hyuga Estate is rebuilt" I added and he nodded.
"Thank you Lady Rin, it is appreciated. I look forward to rebuilding our bonds as well. Now then if you'll excuse me I will inform my clan of your generosity and title" I nodded, smiling slightly as his guard opened the door. Hiashi was first to leave and I was slightly startled when Neji paused at the door and bowed.
"Lady Rin" I smiled slightly as he stood straight.
"See you around" He nodded before he took off to catch up with his Uncle. I stepped out of the room, closing the door behind me. Shikaku, Inoichi, and Choza were passing Hiashi as he left. I waited until they reached the porch.
"How'd it go?" Shikaku asked and I grinned.
"He said yes, we've already begun to rebuild the Uchiha-Hyuga alliance" I replied. Shikaku smiled and bowed slightly, the others followed.
"Congratulations Lady Rin" He replied.
"I will never get used to the bowing" I responded and he chuckled.
"Well we have all agreed to acknowledge you as the head of Uchiha, so it looks like you have your support" I smiled as I looked at three.
"Thank you, really. I know I'm young and the Uchiha aren't much now but I swear in the future I will repay all of you." I promised.
"We know you will, so what's your first act as Head of the Uchiha?" Shikaku asked.
"The Compound is large, I've already offered Lord Hiashi and his clan refuge while their Estate is rebuilt but High Clans and Households shouldn't be my only concern. If I want the Uchiha's future to be better than their past I need to also build a relationship with the villagers." I replied.
"My Father prioritized the Uchiha above all else, which was understandable and kept our clan safe for the most part but it also put a wedge between us and the village. I need to renew the villagers trust in Uchiha"
"How will you do that?" Inoichi asked.
"Well your support will already aid in that but opening the gates to the compound to as many villagers as possible will give me the extra boost." I replied.
"The Hyuga can take over the main branch's area of the compound but the rest will be relatively free." I explained.
"Is there any way we could help?" Choza asked and I nodded.
"Yes, coordinate with the ninja already aiding in relocation. I'll have Jazmine reinforce the remaining homes on the outskirts if they can spare her." Shikaku chuckled throwing his arm around my shoulders.
"Already sounding like a leader" He complimented. I smiled slightly.
"Looks like I'm finally shedding that Princess nickname" I replied and he nodded.
"Your new title does have a better ring to it" He mused.
"Rin Uchiha, Head of the Uchiha Clan"
