"Two broken ribs, a concussion, glass embedded in your arms and face. A broken arm, and a knife wound. And you have a bullet wound, and a bruise the size of Manhattan. So apparently stay safe means go get beat up in the worst way possible? " Natasha said as she stared at us.
"I'm sorry? "I'm
I said rather meekly.
"we are supposed to keep you safe. In the past 30 hours you have managed to hurt yourself so much that you can't even walk! "
"You should see the other guy." I joke and chuckle which turns into a cough.
"Start from the beginning." Natasha commands.
Flashback:
"So where do we go now? " Loki asks as we exit the motel room.
" to pay the bill? " I joke.
"Hilarious" he replies in a monotonous tone, " you should consider a job as a jester."
I smile as we walk toward the reception.
"Stop. You're surrounded"
We turn to find at least ten people standing behind us, guns drawn.
"They're behind us as well." Loki remarks.
"Yes, that's what surrounded means." I say blankly.
" this is not the time for sarcasm"
"anytime is time for sarcasm."
" stop chatting." One of the men barks out and brings the gun as few inches from my face.
" well, well, well. You obviously don't know." I say as I put my hands in my pocket and smile.
They become visibly uncomfortable, " don't know what? "
"The piano on the wall? "
" what? "
"That piano. Over there? " I point. stupid trick I know.
It works! The man turns and I take the opportunity to disarm him and take his gun. I shoot him while Loki tackles another man. Others come toward us and I lift my hand up. Please work.
With a flick of the wrist their guns fly off. They however remain standing.
"Why couldn't you send them flying too? " Loki questions.
"I don't know how! I have a bad teacher." I snap.
A man runs toward me with a dagger, I run as well and use his hand a leverage to pull him and throw him on another guy. Another girl attacks me and I kick her in the stomach. She hits me in the rib. I fall but pull her leg so that she falls too. She climbs over me and I use her weight to throw her off.
I turn to see Loki fight with a man. Another man was walking toward him with a knife. I run and use his outstretched hand as a leverage and swing my legs around his neck. I use the momentum to drag him down along with me. As I do this I don't notice another person walk toward me until it's too late.
As I stand up, A searing pain reaches through my abdomen. I look at my side and a knife protrudes from it. I look up at the man who did it. Maybe it was my look but he went a good two feet back when he saw my face. I straighten up my back and pull the knife out. I stretch my other hand toward him and he goes flying in the air. I throw the knife at another person and it went through his heart. I was in beast mode. Yes I felt pretty bad-ass right now.
Couple of minutes later all of the HYDRA agents were on the floor. I collapse from exertion and then see a reflection of myself in the knife that was fallen. No wonder that guy was scared I look horrifying! My eyes were a chilling electric blue. Black veins spread out from my eyes. I looked like death and the holocaust had a daughter who had crawled up from the depths of hell.
"are you ok? " Loki asks with his hand over his side as he walks over to me.his face had a huge wound on it.
" what happened to you? " I ask.
"A bullet. "
"shit. Loki! Show me! Is it deep? "
"I'll be fine. now are you ok?"
"Knife wound. "
"Where?"
"Its not deep."
"Where Annabeth? ".
I pull up the shirt and show him.
"Lets try to get to the avengers as fast as possible."
I nod and get up.
We walk out without paying because well, the receptionist was dead.
We catch a bus that heads into the next city. our jackets cover up our wounds while .however people do stare at Loki as his face is bruised. It is a long bus ride. I sleep on Loki's shoulder for the most part. We get down as the bus comes to a halt.
We walk along a street that seems pretty deserted, there is only one building, it's under construction.No one was there as its almost evening now. I hear someone behind us and turn to check. A dozen people are running towards us. We begin to run but are stopped as there are people running towards us from the front as well. In desperation we head into the building.
Every horror movie that I have watched tell me that this is a bad idea!
We run straight onto the second floor and lock the doors. The floor is empty, save for some racks of wooden planks on one side.
"I have an idea. " I whisper.
" is it good? " Loki asks.
We hear people running up the stairs.
"Its not good. No. Look hide behind there and run out when its time."
"How will I know when its time? "
" trust me you'll know."
He runs over behind the wood planks as I walk straight in front of the door. There is a window behind me. There aren't any lights so it gives an ominous vibe.
The door burst open and around 30 armed people rush in. I place my hands behind my back.
"Surrender. "
"Don't you know? " I smile. Loki is gonna kill me.
"Know what? " they say, rather confused. I can do this , come on
I smile, " kowabunga"
Before they reply I jump face front out the window. Yeah that happened.
I had done this in SHIELD once and I knew how to deflect my weight so that I wouldn't get hurt. Or so I thought.I hit a ledge before falling on my arm, which broke in two. I bit back my scream and began to run.
LOKIS POV :
She said she had a plan and walked over in front of the door. When the agents came in she simply smiled.
"Don't you know? " she asked.
" know what? " they replied.
"Kowabunga" she smiled and before anyone knew it she had jumped out the window.
She jumped out the window! My heart skipped a beat as I ran out the door unknown to the HYDRA agents. I locked the door behind me so they wouldn't run out so soon. As I ran down the stairs I kept thinking. If she survives, I will kill her.
I run out to where I thought she would be and see blood there. My heart stops. The blood makes a trail. I follow the trail. I see her kneeling on the ground. I run over.
"Beth? Beth? "
"That was a bad idea. " she giggles.her face is cut up and she is clutching her hands.
"I would kill you but you've apparently taken that over yourself! Now stand up. We have to go."
"Yeah ok.. OW AH.. NO NO.. " she shouts as I attempt to pull her up.
I can hear HYDRA agents nearby. I sight and put her hand over my neck and carry her.
"I will extract revenge for this! " I whisper.
"Yes your majesty! "
We almost cross the road when a van stops in front of us. Natasha is in the driver seat.
" get in" is all she says, before taking us to a SHIELD lab.
The present:
Natasha and Steve stand and stare at us.
"I know I'm not much to look at but I'm not that ugly for you to stare." I say.
"You are suicidal. " Steve remarks. I grin.
"But it worked though." I say as I stand to head out the door.
"What if you would've died? " Steve asks.
I shrug and walk out. As I walk toward my room a hand grabs my shoulder from behind.
"Ow! Loki what are..? "
"Never put your life in danger again." I turn to find a fuming Loki.
"Loki I was fine. What does it matter anyway? " I chuckle
"It matters. You may not value your life but others do. You are a selfish person." He grits his teeth
"I'm selfish? " I retort.
"Yes. Did you once think about anyone else before jumping? "He asks
"But.. "
"NO! Listen very carefully, never risk your life again. You may think that people do not care. Well I care. Those people in that room care. Thus before taking a rash decision think about that."
"Ok. " I mumble.
He stares for a while and then walks away. And I exhale the breath I didn't know I was holding. Yeah I was bruised...but I was okay...someone tell Michael Jackson that...get it? Annie are you OK...okay yeah you didn't get. Okay.
