Quick show of hands, how many people here think to God, not in prayer, but just as casually, like talking to a friend?
I started when I was little, He became my version of an imaginary friend. He was always there, a silent listener. To this day, I still talk to Him like that, as I'm going about my day, I'll comment on it to Him, and enjoy his silent support.
It's important to pray to God, of course, but it's also important to be His friend, to catch up on your day with Him, to grow closer to Him through silent companionship. He doesn't ask much, and we ask so much of him.
I haven't always been the greatest Christian, and I haven't always kept God up-to-date on my life. But it's SO worth it! I used to just pray, thank Him, and ask for things! But now, I have a close relationship with the One who created the stars!
