Ares

"I will rip your fucking heads off! Come closer I fucking dare you! I'm going to kill everyone of---"

"Ares! Shut up!" Angel exclaims, holding her hands against her ears. Huddled in a corner, her clothes look ratty and ripped. Her jeans have greenish grass marks up and down her knees, her pink sweater is beginning to destrand itself blending in with the dirt and leaves she's managed picked up. "Honestly! Do you think they'll really let us go if you threaten to kill the bastards?"

I press my head against the bars we're trapped behind. The metal is cold against my skin, and is splotched with dried blood. It reeks of earthy sulfur down here. I thought that I'd finally got used to the smell months ago, but the familiar smell is back again to haunt me. The light bulb dangling from the ceiling is barely in working order, sparking and dimming every two seconds. If I listen hard enough I can hear screaming protruding from another room, most likely torture.

A terrible place that I thought I'd never see again, the Rogue's Den. I'm trying to keep myself together, trying not to rip the next person I see apart. They took me from my home, from my mate, my two sons. It all happened so fast, it surprises that they could even wrap their hands around me but there were so many of them.

The rogues took all four of us. Angel, Sapphire, Leroy and myself. I don't know what their goal is, maybe to lure the four alpha children to their den? To get back at them? This is all gone far past what I can comprehend. But as they as if so much lay of finger on one of us, I'm going to beat the living shit out of them. Leroy is a part of my pack, a well trusted member whom I have become friends with. Angel is Ash's girlfriend, they have been good to me and Rori, more than I could have ever asked for. And Sapphire, well I don't know her and I don't particularly like her mate but I'll probably get my ass beat if I don't protect her.

I get the pleasure of being thrown head first into a cell with Angel. She was here first, shaking, distraught, confused. Sadly, being the complete opposite - trembling, angry and violent, I haven't been able to comfort the poor girl. They took her from Ash, and me from Aurora, that's all I know and that's all we have in common.

Beyond the bars, the cell three meters in front of us holds captive Sapphire and Leroy. I watch Leroy hang upside down, swinging from a pipe on the ceiling while Sapphire folds her arms and sulks. I shake the bars, trying to break free, but they're too strong.

"I need to get out of here, I need to see Rori!" I scream, my face pressed between two steel bars my lips shaking.

"We all need to get out of here. I need Asher, Leroy needs Dexter and Sapphire needs Landon. We're all in the same boat here." Angel speaks from behind me. I watch as Leroy flips down the ceiling, joining in on our conversation.

"She's right." He says rather calmly. Leroy looks the worst out of the four of us. Scratches down the side of his brown face, blood smeared across his uneven jawline. So many tears are ripped into his shirt, holes all through his pants. He received quite the beating.

"Don't worry, Landon will save us." Sapphire buds in with a hint of attitude. "He almost stopped them you know. I almost got away. But they got him, he couldn't protect me anymore. But he'll be back, I just know it."

"Whatever makes you happy." Angel scoffs. I sink to the floor watching her, laughing quietly shaking her head at Sapphire.

"What? You don't believe me?" Sapphire walks to the front of her cell, trying to get a better look at Angel.

"It's not like he knows where to go, only Aurora does. But Landon won't be thinking straight enough to stop and ask her. He'll be chasing his tail."

Sapphire squats down to Angel's level, looking towards her with an attitude. Her electric blue eyes are almost like lasers, burning right through Angel.

"And who's gonna save us then? Little Ash?" Sapphire says trying to belittle innocent Angel.

"Oh shut up." Angel rolls her eyes. It's clear that she's trying to put Sapphire behind her, trying not to care.

"That's what I thought." Sapphire smirks, which bothers me.

"You don't even know Ash. You've been in this family for what? 2 weeks? You don't fucking know him, and you don't fucking know Angel so stop having a go at her because your boyfriend couldn't save you." I'm sure my eyes flicker red for a moment, I wish Rori was here to calm me down.

Sapphire flips me off, before retorting back at me;

"At least my mate didn't torture me, or get me pregnant before I turned 18."

I'm up on my feet again before I know it, trying to stick me face through the bars trying to get a better look at this bitch that Landon's brought home.

"I didn't fucking torture her! You don't even know us, or anyone in this family. You think you're above us? You won't last long. Because I'll motherfu----"

"Ares! Don't let her get to you." Angel pulls me back, and suddenly everything seems to turn scarlet through my vision. "Ares... your eyes."

My blood begins to boil and I feel my teeth shifting into canines. I push Angel away facing the wall with my palms pressed against the wall. I can't seem to calm myself, Rori is the only one who could calm me when I turn Rogue. I try heavy breathing but my mind is playing too many games with me, I can feel myself forming, shifting even. Hatred is drumming through me, driving me to think horrible things.

"Are...you okay?" Angel approaches me placing her hand gently on my shoulder.

"Just stand away from me, Angel. I don't want to hurt you." I manage to communicate through my trembling. Her hand moves and I sense her standing as far away from me as she can. I can hear the thumping of my own heart, and I'd rather Angel stay away from me right now. I can't afford to mess up any more.

"Is he having a wittle temper tantrum?" Sapphire's condescending voice drills into my ears. If someone's going to get hurt shortly is going to be her.

"Shut the fuck up, Saph." Angel quickly hisses from across the room.

"Make me."

"I'm not listening to you for any longer."

"Whatever, bitch."

"Would you stop insulting my family, please?" Leroy intervenes, trying to stop the cat fight.

"Oh go find a coffin to bury yourself in you blood drinking asshole."

Was that supposed to be an insult?

Nevertheless, that was when I snapped. Right at that moment, with all the testosterone raging through my body, my blood pressure increasing, my veins pulsing, I realized that I was trapped in a prison. Me, Ares Marshall, trapped behind bars with my girlfriends-brothers-girlfriend thinking that there's no possible way of escaping. Or at least I thought.

"Argh!" I scream at the top of my lungs, letting my inner rogue free. I charge against the steel poles that cage me, and slowly begin to pull them apart with all the force in my body. Bending begins very slowly, my arms shaking with the amount of strength I'm using. Groaning and sweating I manage to create the smallest gap for Angel and I to escape.

How dare these bastards take me from my home, from my pregnant girlfriend. They're going to pay, they're going to fucking pay.

Without hesitation I begin to pull apart the bars of the cell in front of us, trying to let Leroy free.

I don't speak to any of them, I just expect them to all follow me. My vision is tunneled and pigmented red. I know the exits well and I hope they're smart enough to trust me in my moments of terror. Because I'm not coming back for them, especially not Sapphire.

I know of a secret underground exit which would be much more efficient and quicker to use. But I'm almost certain it'll be guarded, especially while they're holding the four of us captive. Jogging down the end of the hallway, I kick down the pathetically thin door. I enter the other side first, checking if the coast is clear. But it's not, and two rogues have spotted us with weapons help up.

"You three do something while I open the escape hatch!" I yell at them quickly. I'm sure that a werewolf, vampire and witch would be able to conjure up a plan quickly.

I duck as bullets are fired, and scatter to the left side of the room. On the stone floor there's a square mark representing the exit out of here. I try to open it, using my strength to pull it up but nothing works. It's too heavy, it feels although it might be locked but I can't see any sort of key hole or padlock.

"Freezio!" Shouts a very familiar annoying voice. I turn around for a split second to see Sapphire with her hands up in the air pointing towards two statued rogues.

"What did you do?" Leroy exclaims, huffing and puffing.

"I froze them you idiot, but hurry my powers aren't strong enough to hold them for long." The three of them all rush over to me, kneeling by my side trying to figure out how to open the hatch.

We attempt to lift it at the same time but nothing works, it still feels locked. Leroy and I try smashing it with our bare fists but nothing happens.

"Hurry! I can't hold them for long." Sapphire urges us. For a moment I forget about all the horrible things she was yelling at me, how condescending she was being. We're all in this together, we've all been taken from our loved one and we're all angry.

"Why wont this work damn it!" Angel cusses slamming her hand on the floor door.

"Access Denied."

"What was that?" Angel asks looking around with a confused face. We all look to her when Leroy explains it was the door.

"Wait a second... Ares put your hand on the hatch!" He tells me. I look at him funny, what's that going to do? "Just do it!"

I follow his instruction slamming my sweaty palm to the floor. I look at him in shock as the door speaks back at us.

"Access granted."

Suddenly, the door begins to unclick and lift up. Releasing a terrible earthy odor, making me look away. "Only works for rogues." She explains, having cracked the code.

"Hurry the spell is about to break!" Sapphire explains.

Without thinking, I push Angel's small body down the hole, and then Leroy's too. I need them to be down there first so that I can lock the door behind me. Sapphire lets out a scream as the two rogues unfreeze and begin to regain their motives to hunt after us.

"Move!" I shout at the girl, pushing her down the hatch along with the others. My heart races as the rogues near closer to me, with their guns pointed ready to shoot.

I grab the handle from underneath and jump in as one almost grabs my leg. I smirk at them before shutting them out, sealing them out of our safety. I hear them thud on the door, trying to break it open. It makes me wonder how many people know how to open it. And more importantly, since when have the rogues upgraded their security system to identification?

"Sapphie, lock them out! Do something!" I yell at her, pulling the hatch handle making sure they won't be able to get through. There's a moment of silence and I turn to her in a rush. She's thinking, looking startled and scared. She's only fifteen, I feel bad to put so much pressure on her but she's the only one who could do something.

"Umm.... Uh..." She mutters, raising her hands in the air. I can barely see anything, it's so dark in here. She whispers to herself a few words that I can't understand, shaking her hands towards the hatch. Blue dust begins to move its way from the end of her finger tips to the heavy stone door.

"It's only jammed for a few minutes, my powers aren't strong so we need to hurry."

I look at everyone, checking if they're all alright. Everyone seems fine but my mind is on the time, we need to be quick. It won't be too long until the other rogues will know.

"What is this place?" Leroy coughs looking around. Surely he'll be able to see clearly with those vampire eyes.

"It's a tunnel, the end of the tunnel takes you by the beach. Everyone thinks its a water pipe, it seldom gets used. It'll be a 10 minute walk, 5 if we run."

When we reached the end, I was expecting a bright light that would burn my eyes. Instead, we were met with the nights sky. The stars were hard to find, and the moon didn't seem to be out tonight. New moon.

I stood on the sand with the wind raging against my clothes, trying to take me. The tide is high tonight which pushes me to move the four of us inland.

"We have to stick together, for all we know the rogues could be trailing us right now." I tell them, rubbing my arms trying to find warmth.

"We should go back to the pack house, they wouldn't come back twice because we're expecting it." Angel suggests, as we stand in a small circle.

We all agree, and carry ourselves to the house. We walk in silence, treading through the forest with our heads down.

I'll be home soon Aurora.
