Ashlee sat at home when her phone chimed, it was an unknown number and she sighed, it was just a text the worse that could happen would be a wrong number. She opened it and smiled, "Maxwell Lord. Hmm." She chuckled and called him, "How did the great Maxwell Lord get Cat Grant's lowly assistance's number. Nevermind, don't answer that. How can I help you Mr. Lord?", he chuckled, "A little bird told me that much like myself, you're always alone on Thanksgiving. I figured we could eat together to not be so, pitiful." She chuckled, "I'm going to guess this little bird was Cat Grant who also gave you my number." She smiled, "Well, Mr. Lord, what do you have planned? I'm not high society and you're not middle classed, what will your fans think?", she could tell he smiled, "How about casual, Chinese take out, at your place." She smirked, "Oh, the great Maxwell Lord likes Chinese food?", she giggled and he chuckled, "Don't tell anyone, it's a secret." She smiled, "I'm pretty good at keeping secrets. How about Chinese take out, homemade pecan pie, and some wine?" He chuckled, "Sounds good. Two nights from now?", she smiled, "I'll let you know if Cat Grant will let me off early. Pecan pies can be rather difficult to make." She smiled, "I'm sure she'll let you off if you ask nicely." She smiled, "I'll see you around Mr. Lord, have a good night." She smiled and glanced around her apartment, she quickly cleaned it and hid her suit in her bedroom closet behind all the other clothes and smiled. She wasn't going to be alone on Thanksgiving. That's the first in 3 years.
Ashlee walked into Cat Grant's office the next morning with a grimace, "I think I lost my appetite." Cat nodded, "I'll throw your stuff away if you'd like Miss Grant." Cat looked at her, "Don't you have a date to get ready for?", Ashlee made a face, "Oh, um, it, oh. It's ah, it's not a date. It's two lonely people getting together at one of their houses with food and wine during the holidays so they aren't as lonely." Cat Grant raised her eyebrow and Ashlee sighed, "I just, I don't know what to make. He said something about Chinese and pecan pie so I just. I don't know. I didn't have a mom to teach me how to cook and stuff. I can bake." Cat smiled, "Sit." Ashlee did, "Maxwell Lord may seem intimidating and hard to please but he really isn't. Make a Pecan Pie, some Meatloaf, a salad, and something with some bite to it. I'll even let you borrow one of my recipes." Ashlee smiled, "Thank you, Miss Grant." She smiled, "So, I've emailed the recipes to you, print them. Go buy ingredients, a nice outfit, get your hair done, go home and cook. You have 24 hours." Ashlee nodded and bolted out of the office, "Who, who, who are you cooking for. I thought you did it alone." She smiled at Winn, "I did, this year is different. Hopefully. I'll see you guys later. Stay safe." She hurried out and into the storm brewing outside.
Ashlee was walking outside when the Catco Helicopter was struck by lightning, she quickly changed and flew into the air. The pilot fell and Kara caught him and watched as Haven got to the plane. She steadied the plane and looked at Leslie who had been speaking bad about herself and Kara that morning, "Grab my hand." Leslie did and Ashlee got struck by lightning, she groaned and tried to pull her hand from Leslie's but she couldn't. The Lightning travelled through the two and Leslie's hair turned white.
Ashlee went a visited Leslie by herself and sighed, "I am so sorry." She placed her hand on Leslie's and glanced down, "Cat said she thought you'd be here. You and Leslie had a bit of a friendship." Ashlee nodded, "Yeah. A little one. I feel so bad. I should've watched the weather patterns and told Cat it wasn't a good day for it, the risk was to high." Maxwell looked at her, "Hey, you couldn't have known this was going to happen." She glanced down, "I bet Haven feels awful." Maxwell sighed, "Atleast she tried, more than Supergirl did." Ashlee glanced down, "Let's go, she needs her rest." He nodded and the pair walked out of the hospital room of Leslie Willis.
Maxwell and Ashlee walked down the street, "I'm so glad the City is focused on Leslie to not be worrying about who the mystery girl is with Maxwell Lord." He chuckled, "Sorry, that was insensitive of me. I'd much rather the city think of me as a mystery girl than Leslie being hurt." He looked at her, "You truly care about people don't you?", she nodded, "Yeah, I think it's going to be my downfall one day. Trying to save someone with words and love instead of action." He softly smiled, "Are we still on for dinner at your place?", she nodded, "Of course if you're really up to it." He nodded, "Of course I am. I'm looking forward to it." She smiled, "Well then, I guess I better get to cooking and baking then." He smiled, "You do realize we still have a full day right?", she nodded, "Of course I do, I just want it to be perfect. I don't know why but I do." He smiled and placed a gentle kiss on her cheek, "Don't worry about it Ashlee, it will be fine." She smiled, "I hope so Maxwell Lord, I certainly hope so."
Ashlee sat a meatloaf made with only local meat, local vegetables, and a homemade Pecan Pie on the table. She sighed and grabbed the wine and two glasses. She licked her lips and ran her hands down her outfit, black skinny jeans, dark blue flats, a pale pink top and dark blue cardigan. She took a deep breath and waited for Maxwell to knock and she walked to the door, "Welcome to my humble home, Maxwell Lord." She smiled and he walked in, "It's very nice and homey Ashlee." She smiled, "Thank you." He looked at the table, "What happened to Chinese?", she smiled, "I figured if we were calling this Thanksgiving, we'd best do it kind of right. Maybe next time we can get Chinese take-out." He smiled and pulled out a seat for her and pushed it in, before taking the seat across from her. "Next time?", she froze slightly, "I like the sound of that." She smiled, "Me too." The two smiled at each other and started eating, her phone beeped and Ashlee sighed, "Sorry.", she looked at it, "Why is Miss Grant at the office at this time?", she sighed, "I am so sorry Max, I really am, Cat needs me." He nodded, "Right. Of course, I'll show myself out." She softly smiled, "You can stay, I promise I'll only be a few minutes." He softly smiled at her, "Alright, stay safe. It's still storming outside." She nodded and stood up, placing a kiss on his cheek, before running out the door.
"What's the emergency?", Cat was standing in her office, "Last minute conference call to London and Beijing and nothing is working. Not my computer, not my phone, not my backup phone. I got the text to you and Kerah, and then Boom! Everything died." Ashlee looked up from typing on the laptop, Kara walked in, "Maybe that's a sign you shouldn't work on Thanksgiving." Ashlee smiled softly, "I always work on Thanksgiving, thank you very much. Oh, Aimee I am so sorry I forgot." She shook her head, "It's fine Miss Grant, as soon as I am done helping you here we are meeting up again to discuss another get together." Cat smiled and Ashlee glanced down with a blush, "Sorry, I need to focus. I think we need Winn's help." Cat looked at Ashlee and Kara, "What's a Winn?", Ashlee glanced up, "Will." Cat nodded and Kara farrowed her eyebrows. "Then call him." The power went out and Leslie's voice filled the air, "Gobble, gobble. Miss me?", Cat looked around, "Leslie?", Ashlee looked up, "I'll go get security." Cat nodded and the brunette ran off, actually going to get security and then changing into Haven. Kara ran off and Haven flew in, "Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty." Ashlee rolled her eyes, "That's not creepy at all." She glared but caught sight of Cat and disappeared, Ashlee flashed in front of her boss and took the electric waves Leslie shot out, "Why are you doing this Leslie?", Leslie chuckled, "Leslie died, you failed to save her. I'm Livewire." Ashlee licked her lips, "I can help you." Leslie smiled, "I'm good as is.", she shot electricity again and Ashlee used her heat vision, "Miss Grant, run." Leslie disappeared and reappeared in front of Cat but Ashlee tackled her. Leslie disappeared and Kara flew in, "Oh Haven, old Cat's stock is plummeting.", she laughed and Ashlee looked toward the elevator, "No." She pried the doors opened and caught the elevator, and opened the emergency hatch, "You're safe now Miss Grant." Cat smiled and Ashlee helped her out before changing and making her way behind the security, she fixed her hair back and placed her glasses on as Kara was sitting back with Miss Grant. Ashlee sat with Cat and looked at her watch, "You can go, I'm sure Max is waiting." Ashlee shook her head, "You were just attacked by a crazy Leslie Willis Miss Grant, I'm sure Max will understand." She smiled, "What kind of loyal employee would I be if I left you in your time of need?", Cat smiled at her and Ashlee looked down. "Go." Ashlee nodded, "Be back tomorrow, we will be opened." Ashlee nodded, "Thank you Miss Grant. I'll make sure that your latte is extra hot tomorrow." Cat smiled and Ashlee walked out.
Ashlee walked into her house and smiled at the candles and Max, "I'm so sorry." He looked at her, "Are you okay? I heard about what happened?", she nodded, "I'm fine." She smiled, "Dance with me." He looked at her, "There's no music.", she chuckled, "Listen to the music that is our heartbeats Maxwell Lord." He smiled and the two swayed to the music and she smiled, resting her head on his shoulder and her hands on his neck. "I think I'm going to ignore the next call from Cat Grant I get. She actually pushed me to come back. I do have to go in tomorrow though." He chuckled, "Of course you do." She giggled, "You seemed sad when we first met. At the party." She softly smiled, "Yeah, I'm over it now." The lights came back on and she smiled, "Thank you for waiting." He smiled, "It was my pleasure." She smiled and hugged him, "We should probably go our separate ways, it's almost midnight." She kissed his cheek, "Let's meet up next Thursday for lunch. Yes? Cat gives you one of those." She smiled, "Of course, send me the address-", he shook his head, "I'll meet you at Catco." She smiled, "As you wish." He smiled a kissed her cheek before leaving.
She walked into see Winn place a kiss on Kara's cheek but her phone vibrating brought her out of it when a smile grew on her face. Winn, James, and Kara all stared at her and she texted back the number and walked into Cat Grant's office, "Thank you, Cat." Cat nodded and Ashlee sat at her desk, Kara walked into the office and her two friends stared at her, "What's with the face?", she looked at them, "What face? There isn't a face." James chuckled, "There's a boy isn't there?", she shook her head, "Ha. No, there, I mean, of course. Uh. So what if there is a boy. We should be working. Come on. Get to it." James laughed and walked off and Winn looked at her, "Is it someone I know?", she shook her head, "Don't worry about it." Her phone buzzed and she smiled. Winn looking at her, only wondering who it is. A man walked in with a teddy bear holding a rose and placed it on her desk, Thanks for making this holiday a great one. ~Maxwell Lord, she smiled and Cat looked at her brunette assistant, giving her a wink and Ashlee looked down with a blush.
