I suggest reading the story again.
(4) Drunk, Ditsy and Deep Conversations
I'm alive.
Bruised, but alive.
I can't believe it.
Those kids are like the devil's servants; Brody being the devil himself.
He has a really good aim with toy trucks. I have around seven bruises on my arms and legs. And the best part is that I have to go back tomorrow. Yay.
Pulling up in my driveway a little after five, I unlocked the door and let myself in. Mom texted me that she went to get the groceries so I was home alone. I took a quick shower and put some cream on the bruises. I realized I had time to kill and I played on the Xbox. Charlie heard from his bedroom the unmistakable sounds of gunshots and joined me.
Our mom found us two hours later shouting at each other because he 'accidentally' threw a bomb at me and tranquillized us with chocolate cake.
"Boys," she muttered, shaking her head at our identical chocolate stains on our faces.
It was almost 8 so I cleaned myself up, changed into a white button up and black jeans, and headed for Diana's house.
Once I parked in front of her house, I walked up to the door and rang the bell. I was attacked by a strong, girly perfume when the door was opened by Mrs. Cole. She had her red hair up in rollers, her plastic-surgery-filled face covered in some ugly green mask, and she was wearing a bright pink tracksuit.
"Drew, darling! So good to see you!" She said hugging me tightly. Well, tight enough with her huge boobs in the way.
"Always a pleasure Maggie" I smiled.
"Come in! Diana's just getting ready." She opened the door and I stepped in. Her house was slightly larger than mine but didn't really have the same, cozy feeling as my house. Mrs. Cole is a socialite and she always keeps the house proper as if the president might pay a visit any minute.
After what felt like forever, she came down and my eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. She had on a tight black dress that reached above her knees, too-high heels, and a LOT of cleavage (no complains there).
I gave her a kiss and said "Wow Dee, you look hot."
"I know," she said flipping her hair. "You don't look bad yourself."
"Oh Diana!" Her mother butt in. "You look so gorgeous! You better keep an eye on her Drew." she winked.
I chuckled, said our promises to not go too crazy and left. We sat in the car and drove off to Luke's house.
I could hear the pounding music before even turning into his street. Cars piled up in front and various teenagers I vaguely recognized from our school littered the front lawn. I parked near the house next to it and got out.
Once we walked in, I knew it would be a long night. Some people still looked a little sober so the party was just getting started. I turned towards Diana but she was already making her way to a group of girls. I shrugged and pushed my way into the kitchen to try and find my friends. I found Luke getting a beer from the fridge.
"Dude! You finally came! We're playing beer pong in the game room." He said holding four bottles and passing me two.
"Perfect." I said following behind him. The game room was in the basement and it's where the guys always hang out whenever we're at Luke's. It had two flat-screen TVs, two of any game console you can think of (he has an older brother who's in college now), a DVD player complete with shelves full of DVDs, a pool table, foosball, bean bags, and many board games.
Let's just say Luke's family never gets bored.
Jake and Dean were setting up the cups while other guys were cheering on.
"Hey Drew! How were the babies?" Jake shouted.
I grimaced which made him laugh and he slung his arm over my shoulder.
"It's okay dude because we're gonna have fun tonight!" He said shouting out the last part making the whole room cheer with him.
I'm holding on to that.
**********************************************************
"But dude," Jake contradicted "if corn is yellow, how is popcorn white?"
"Magic." I suggested. "That's how food works."
It's been almost two hours since I came and I had a couple of beers which just slightly altered my sense of soberness. I never liked getting shit-faced drunk. I couldn't say the same for Jake. The guy drank his body weight in alcohol so being the great best friend I am, I tagged along to wherever he felt like going.
That's how we ended up on the roof while the others were probably having a strip show in the living room judging from how horny the guys suddenly became before we left.
"Magic! I always wanted to go to Hogwarts." Jake said.
"They never sent us the letter." I said.
"I know!" Jake exclaimed, "let's write them a letter!"
"Can you even write?" I asked skeptically.
He scoffed. "Obviously! Let's go to the post office."
I rolled my eyes and carefully led Jake out of the house. As expected, he completely forgot about the letter and decided to roam around the streets. He started singing at the top of his lungs, probably waking up the neighbors.
Later, we ended up in the park and I ran towards the swing set. Who doesn't love swings?
While Jake was on the ground looking for 'hidden treasure', I spotted a girl sitting on the benches. I pushed myself off the swing and accidentally fell face first on the ground.
"Great! You search there and I'll dig here." Jake said and continued patting the ground.
"Jake, how are you even digging? You don't have anything." I questioned.
"I'm a real man!" He said puffing out his chest, "I like to get my hands dirty."
I laughed and my attention was again caught by the girl sitting on the bench. I walked towards her as she was staring up at the sky. She was wearing pink flannel pants and a familiar green shirt.
"Piggy!"
She screamed when she heard me shout and looked frightened.
"What the hell?!" She screamed staring at me incredulously.
"I've missed you!" I said plopping down next to her. I reached for a hug but she moved away making me fall on her lap.
"Oh Lord," she muttered "what are you doing here?"
"Top secret, Piggy, can't share with no one" I crossed my arms.
"I bet," she rolled her eyes, "can you get off me?"
"No... you're too comfy, like a big fluffy pillow" I sighed making myself comfortable on the lap. Not really successful since I was too tall for the bench and she was sitting in the middle.
"Are you drunk?"
"Just a teeny little bit." I said making a small gap between my fingers. I wasn't really drunk and I didn't even know why I was acting like a five year old but it was fun.
She sighed "I have some drunk stranger on my lap, great."
"Hey!" I pouted. "I'm not a stranger, we're best friends!"
"I barely know you, we can't be best friends idiot."
"But that's how friendships start. Being friends with someone new is like putting your hand in a box and not knowing what you pick. It could be a flower, a thorn, or you can just pick nothing and walk away."
She stared at me, dumbfounded. I had no idea where that came from.
"You're a weird drunk you know that?" She mused.
"And you're a boring sober."
"I'm not boring! I'm the most fun person you'll ever meet."
"Fun isn't the word I would use to describe you, more like funny." I smirked.
"That's a good thing right?" She asked but I shrugged. She gasped and pushed me off causing me to fall face first on the ground.
"Ouch."
"Oh my god!" She exclaimed and fell on her knees to help me up. "I'm so sorry! I didn't know you'd get hurt! I'm truly sorry, should we get help? Will you be alright? I-"
"You talk too much" I grumbled turning my head sideways to look at her. Grace was on her knees next to my head and was frowning, which formed a cute little crease on her forehead.
I mean, cute like adorable. Not cute like, 'cute'.
"Sorry, I thought you were hurt. I pushed you too hard and to top it off you're drunk. I- Drew?"
Somehow I rolled on to the grass and was on my back like a starfish.
"Join me Piggy!"
She stared at me strangely for a while before sighing and lying next to me. She lied down near my fingertips but not like a starfish.
It was silent for a while. Grace and I were staring at the sky, I spotted Jake passed out on the slides, and it was calming.
"Piggy?"
"You have to stop calling me that."
"No."
She sighed.
"Piggy?"
"Hm?"
"What are you doing in the park all alone at midnight?"
"I could ask you and your friend the same question." I could sense her smirking but noticed her avoiding my question.
"We have a very valid excuse."
"Ruining the park is valid, huh?"
"We're searching for treasure." I explained with mock seriousness.
"Yea, tell that to the cops."
"You're gonna tell on me?!" I widened my eyes but she couldn't see me.
"Obviously not but they might find out somehow."
I stared at her, grinning widely. She noticed my lack of words and turned her head towards me, confused.
"What?"
"If you're not gonna tell on me, that must mean we're friends, right?"
Knowing that I caught her, she sighed.
"Alright, we're friends."
I punched my fist in the air and she groaned. "I'm gonna regret this."
"Babe, I'll make sure you won't." I winked.
"Don't call me babe." She glared.
"But babe," I whined.
"No."
"Babe, babe, babe," I chanted continuously until she grew frustrated and punched me in the arm. Unfortunately, that exact spot was sporting a bruise from today's 'adventure'.
"Ow." I moaned clutching my arm.
"You're such a sissy! I didn't even punch that hard." She teased.
"Nope, but you punched me on a booboo." I hissed.
"Oh my god!" She exclaimed getting up. "I keep hurting you. Lemme see your arm."
I removed my hand to reveal a small purplish, almost blue patch on my upper arm.
"Ouch, that seems painful."
"It is, but it's fine."
"Maybe I should get you home. It's getting late and it's not safe for you to drive." She suggested.
"You just want to spend more time with me." I remarked slyly.
"You're so full of yourself," she rolled her eyes, "now get your drunk ass up and go wake your friend."
I gave her a mock salute and walked to Jake. His face must have slid on the slides since he was now lying face up (thank god) in the sand. I nudged him slightly with my foot but he didn't even stir. I nudged harder yet no change. Looking around, I spotted something that made me grin mischievously.
Fun Fact: Jake is very ticklish.
I went over to a pile of fallen branches and picked the one with the most leaves. I noticed Grace watching me and was about to speak when I shushed her. I stood a few steps away from Jake's unconscious form, with Grace next to me, and brushed the branch over his weak spot: his neck.
He started squirming and writhing before abruptly getting up and screaming. He spotted me laughing my ass off and tackled me to the ground. We wrestled around like dogs until we heard two sharp whistles. I looked up to see Grace with two fingers in her mouth.
"Quit it!" She ordered. "Can you hurry up so I can get home?"
"Yes Ma'am!" We said in unison and got up.
"Dude, you gotta teach me to whistle like that." Jake said.
"Maybe when you're not highly inebriated, I'll consider it."
"I'm not ineb-whatever, I'm Jake." He said with his wobbly hand out for her to shake, which she rejected. We walked to the car park and stopped in front of a blue Sedan. It looked like it was in good condition. I rode shotgun, leaving Jake sprawled on the backseat.
"If he pukes, you're buying me a new car." She glared at me.
"Deal." I agreed. "So do you know where Luke James' house is? He lives in the Brayburn neighborhood." The one near the daycare center.
"Luke James," she said thoughtfully. "Is he dating someone called Lucy?"
"Yeah, do you know him?"
"Yea, Lucy's a close friend." She put the keys into ignition. "I picked her up from his house once so I know the way."
15 minutes later, we were parked outside Luke's house. I heard Jake groan in the backseat. "Are we home, mom? I need to pee." He didn't wait for our response before opening the door and dragging himself inside.
"Thanks for the ride." I unbuckled the seatbelt. "Wanna come for the rest of the party?"
"Hmm, spend the rest of my night in the comforts of my home or be surrounded by drunk idiots." She pretended to ponder. "You tell me, genius."
"If you wanted to, quote, spend the rest of your night in the comforts of your home, unquote, why were you at the park?"
"Didn't you ask me that already?" She cocked an eyebrow.
"Didn't you avoid the question already?" I retaliated which lead to a mini stare down. Finally, she sighed.
"I just went to clear my head. That's it."
"Well next time, clear your head somewhere safer. The park's dangerous around this time for pretty little girls like you." I smirked and she gasped.
"I am not a little girl!"
"But you're pretty," I winked which made her even more flustered. Before she had a chance to fight back, I bolted. "See you later, Piggy!"
I jogged up to the front door and turned in time to see Piggy shake her head and drive off.
---------------------------------------------------------
An hour later, I wanted to turn in for the night. Luke always locked a few bedrooms and gave us a spare key if we ever wanted to crash during a party, like now. I headed towards the kitchen, looking for Dee. I found her sitting on the countertop, but she looked like she could fall off any minute.
"Drew! You look so hot." She slurred dragging out most of the vowels.
I chuckled. "I know. How many drinks have you had?"
"Oh a couple, like more than 10." She said before giggling.
I shook my head. "Come on, we better get to bed."
"I think you phrased it wrong." She giggled and I smirked.
"Maybe when you're not drunk Dee." I helped her off the counter and she leaned heavily on me.
"Babe, you have nice arms." She slurred
I shook my head and half-carried her up the stairs. I tried to unlock the door but it was hard with Diana trying to kiss me. I would but her breath reeked of alcohol and it put me off.
Finally, after several tries, I unlocked the door. The minute her head hit the pillow she was out cold. I took off her heels so they wouldn't stab me while sleeping.
After changing I lay down next to her. She didn't look as mean and manipulative as she did when she was sleeping.
It made me wonder if that was one of the only things I liked about her that wasn't a physical attraction.
WOWOWOWOWOW I actually updated hahahahaha. Terribly sorry for the long wait. I had a really bad case of writers block but don't worry, I'll upload the next chapter sooner
