-Monica Thompson's POV-
I drew the curtains in so I couldn't look at him and he couldn't look at me. I blew out a sigh and leaned my head against the window, thinking about what just happened.
"You told him." A voice said from behind me, making me jump as I turned around. Andrew was standing there.
"He commanded me. I swear I wouldn't have if I had the choice." I told him moving around the side of the table, putting it between us.
"That does not change the fact that you told him." Andrew said looking at me over the edge of the cup he was holding as he took a sip, "The alpha of Yellow Star Pack just had to be your mate."
"I rejected him." I said feeling the panic rise in my throat.
"He could tell everyone." His spit flew from his mouth as he spoke.
"I-I'll talk to him. I'll ask him not to tell anyone." I told him moving further around the side of the table as he took long strides towards me.
"There's no telling that he will actually listen to you seeing as how he's an alpha and you're what, barely above an omega? After all, you rejected him didn't you?" He said setting his glass on the table then looking at me.
And he lunged.
"No!" I screamed and ran in the direction of the stairs taking them two at a time trying to reach the top. I heard him stomping up the stairs after me. I also heard a muffled pounding along with a muffled yell.
The glass door downstairs.
Dean was at the door trying to help me and Andrew had locked the door when he was on that side of the table.
I ran down the hallway at the top of the stairs and grabbed the frame of my doorway swinging myself into my room, closing and locking the door behind me. I could hear Andrew coming down the hallway quickly, so I threw myslef on my bed grabbing my phone out of my pocket and swiping my headphones off my nightstand. I plugged them into my phone and turned the volume all the way up on my music to block out Andrews pounding and yelling on the otherside of my door. So I couldn't hear him command me to open the door.
I drifted into a restless sleep shortly after that.
-.-.-.-.-
I woke to the sound of a key being turned in the lock of my door as my earbuds had been pulled from my ears in my slumber. I stared at the door as I waited for the person to come in my room. The door began to crack open and I scooted further back on my bed, just hoping that it wasn't Andrew that had managed to find the master key, when their scent filled the room and I knew I was safe, whether I wanted to talk to them or not.
Alpha Kent walked through the door into my room, closing it behind him.
I let out a sigh of relief and relaxed on my bed, "I'm so glad it's you, I thought you were going to be someone else."
"Who else would it be?" He asked me coming to sit on my window seat.
"Oh, nobody. Just me being paranoid." I said and laughed trying to back pedal over what I'd said and changed the subject, "My mate is from one of the allying packs."
"I know," He said blowing out some air, "I've known for awhile now, that's what I came here to talk to you about."
"What do you mean you've known?" I asked him trying to keep my tone in check as he is my alpha.
"Last winter he came to find you, he got all the way to the alley. I don't know how he managed to find you but he did and he almost got to you and knowing what he'd done to you I forced him to leave this land. But he showed up today looking for you and I tried to keep you from him by sending you on mindless tasks: turning on the already on air conditioning, checking the tables, setting out platters, etcetera, but he still managed to get to you." Alpha Kent told me.
"Thank you." I was awed at what he had tried to do for me as he knew how much pain my mate ha put me through, "I ended up rejecting him because of what he'd done to me."
"And that was your choice to make, but judging by how he beat Andrew to a bloody pulp when he found Andrew outside your door and the fact that he's still lingering downstairs, he's not going to just let you reject him without putting up a fight." He told me.
I laughed at that, "Then he better be prepared for the fight of his life."
Alpha Kent laughed with me, "Why don't you come downstairs and grab something to eat? It's almost seven p.m."
"Okay, I'll be down in a minute." I said and made my way to my vanity to untangle my now broken clip from my hair, "Oh, and Alpha Kent? Thanks again for your efforts today."
"Your welcome." He said then walked out, closing the door as he went.
I pulled the clip from my hair letting it fall down and stay how it fell because I was too lazy to do anything with it. then I rubbed the make-up that had collected under my eyes in my sleep.
I made my way downstairs still in my skirt and blouse, though i had ditched the shoes. As I made my way closer to the bottom landing I heard voices coming from the front room, but knowing that one of the voices was Deans didnt particularly interest me. I walked past that room and into the kitchen on the left; the talking stopped.
I won't let it bother me.
Pulling the ingredients out to make a turkey sandwhich, I glanced at the door when I heard footsteps coming my way. Just before I turned to the counter, putting my back to the doorway, Dean walked in and leaned against the frame of the door.
"While you're making yourself a sandwhich, care to make me one, too?" Dean said.
"You have two feet to walk yourself over here, two hands to make one for yourself, and a brain to figure it out." I said to him not turning around to look at him but with my next words I flipped around to look at him, "Oh wait, if you had a brain you wouldn't still be here."
"I'll ignore that end comment." He said then started to walk towards me, "But you have a good point. If you're over there, making a sandwhich is going to be worth it."
"Will you just leave me alone?" I was my witty reply then I spun back around to finish making my sandwhich. I took a bite out of it then pick up the paper plate I had gotten out, though I didn't place my sandwhich on it.
I turned so I could go to the table but Dean was standing right there blocking my path. He leaned forward and placed both his hands on the countertop on either side of me. So now I wasn't only blocked, but trapped by Dean. I brought my sandwhich to my mouth again to take another bite, and he leaned forward and took a bite out of the bottom corner of my sandwhich, while the sandwhich was in my mouth.
"Hey! This is my sandwhich not yours!" I said with my mouth full and place free hand on his chest and pushed him away, though it didn't take much effort because he was already turning away choking on the sandwhich since he had started laughing at me. I walked to the wooden block that held the knives and I sliced the part he had bitten off.
"You're cutting up our sandwhich?" He asked me still slightly coughing.
"You took a bite out of my sandwhich, of course I'm going to cut it off!" I told him then threw his bitten piece in the garbage desposil.
I glared at him as I finished my meal, making sure he kept his distance. And he did, only he stared back at me, his eyes scanning me as if he were trying to take in every little hair on my head and every freckle on my skin. His gaze made me squirm so I turned and placed my empty plate in the garbage can then I started to walk out of the room to go back upstairs.
"Where are you going?" He called after me, still standing by the counter.
"To my room so I can sleep." I said walking backwards as I talked to him.
"But you just slept for four hours." He said walking towards me again.
"It was two hours, and today's been a long day for me." I told him then turned and began my walk up the stairs.
"Don't you have to, um, do something down here?" He said, tripping as he tried to come up the stairs after me.
I laughed, "No, I don't."
I made it to the top and walked down the hallway to my room.
"I'll be seeing you soon, Monica." He hollered still at the bottom of the stairs.
Doubt it.
