The car was really cool; but it doesn’t change the fact that James is a douche bag.  It had pure Italian leather seats, a lemon scented air freshener, and a manly box full of R&B, Pop, and Hip Hop CDs.

The car moved and before I know it, we were making our way to school. Just as we stopped on a red light, a few feet from school, I muttered;

“Just drop me here.” I said as I looked throughout the window.

He shot me a look. “Why?” Isn’t it obvious? I can’t stand forcing myself not to punch you. Nor kill you for that matter.

I rolled my eyes. “Because I don’t want people to know that I was with you.”

He shot me an amused look and said. “Don’t you think that sentence should be vice versa?”

I shook my head and untangled my seatbelt.  “Open the door.” I commanded with attitude.

“No. “He said firmly. That was weird. He looked serious. But the sarcastic look in his eyes told me clearly that he’s just acting.

“Why? Didn’t you say it should be vice versa? You’re getting a win-win situation here.” I explained.

“It’s raining.” He says as the red light turns into green. He stepped on the accelerator and we zoomed off.

“I hate you.” I muttered quietly, attempting to not let him hear it.

“I hate you more.” He says as he smiles. Fail.

“I hate you most.” I said as I felt the urge to stick my tongue out. I smiled devilish.

“You just got pawned.” I said, grinning hysterically. He just stood silent, accepting his defeat and I smiled just like I ruled the world. This might not be bad after all. We were now entering Golden State High. We had “Polly the Goat” for a mascot. Isn’t it charming? A goat for a mascot. Our school had this cheer;

Go, Go Golly! Go, Go ,Go Golly! Insert a really weird goat noise here.

It’s pretty weird, but don’t get me wrong; I’m proud to be a Polly-ion.  He parked somewhere near the crowd. Great, now this creeper is going to humiliate me again. He unlocked the door and I managed to get out stumbling because of the high elongated step of the SUV. I slammed the door violently and looked down to check if I haven’t dropped anything. I looked up and noticed that they were all staring at us. He went up beside me and shouted. “Don’t worry guys, She’s just trying to squeeze herself at me so that she can become popular” The crowds went wild. I looked at him and said.

“James; that hurt more than I expected it would.” And then I went straight to the hallway and left him there dumbfounded. He wants war? He’ll get a war. I didn’t hold back a tear because I knew exactly what he’s going to do.

The classes happened all too quickly, and all of the sudden, it was now lunchtime. I still didn’t forget what James did to embarrass me in front of the whole school. What a jerk. As soon as the bell rang, I hurriedly scooped my books and returned it to my locker. My locker looked like a normal one, but inside, it sprinkled and shined. I like how it all fits. I looked at the mirror and saw my normal self. I smiled a little bit when someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around and I saw a dirty blonde haired girl wearing a sweater, some classic black cargo pants and some Converse shoes.

“Hey Mint.” I said smiling a little. Mint was my best friend since 2nd grade. I love her. We linked our arms together and went our way to the cafeteria. When we got there I automatically put out a blue cafeteria tray and gave it to the old fat lunch lady; Miss Holmes. I smiled at her and said.

“What’s the menu for today?” I asked with an honest smile.

“Mystery meat” She says, frowning. She’s always like that; but I learned on how to live with it, I grabbed my tray and started walking towards the tables. There were only 5 consecutive tables in the cafeteria which are occupied by 5 consecutive groups; the preppy girls, the jocks and athletes, the nerds, the normal ones, and MY group. I sat down and Mint followed. Now this group I prefer to be, special…different…or in other words…

“Weirdos” Jessica Waters, a student from the preppy table behind us commented. She is head cheerleader, drama club president, and probably dated her 2nd cousins. She’s more of a weirdo than us here. But when I see the people that I sit in, I kind of understand what she meant by that. We surely needed a makeover. The only decent looking in our group is Mint.

The cafeteria suddenly went quiet when the cafeteria door slammed open. I looked at what’s going on and it was James. He was looking at me, but when I watched him looking at me, he didn’t look away. Instead, he just looked at me directly. I know he’s just acting so let’s just stop this madness. Let the war begin then.

I rolled my eyes and whispered to Mint. “What a big show-off.” She looked at me arching her eyebrows upward. “You like him don’t you?” I groaned.

“No. I hate him. “I hissed. Now I looked at him again and he was still on the cafeteria line. But he still was looking at me. Somehow I really want to be friends with him again. Even though he’s annoying as hell, he was still a great friend.

“The more you hate the more you love” Mint muttered. Who invented that phrase anyway? I dropped back to my tray and took a spoonful of mystery meat. It looked gooey but surprisingly, it was yummy. As I was eating silently, someone dropped a piece of paper beside me.  I opened it and it said in clear cursive writing;

I’m Sorry, okay?

And then I saw James walking behind me then positioning himself on the preppy girls’ table. I looked at him and he mouthed. “I’m sorry.” And I mouthed fast.

“No, you freaking piece of crap.” He looked at me and mouthed.

“What?” I loved how his face suddenly looked like a child’s. And I loved how ticked off he is.

I turned around and Mint was smiling at me devilishly.

“What?” I asked suspiciously.

“You and James sitting on a tree...” I covered her mouth with my hand and said. “Shush! If they can hear you they will KILL me.” I said as I shuffled my long brown hair at the back of my ear.

“Who?”

“Jessica and her troll friends.” She nodded at me approvingly.

“I’m sorry okay.” James said, chasing me as I walk towards the exit of the green plant filled parking lot of Golden State High.

“Get away from me.” I started walking fast, quickly increasing my pace.

“No, not until I go home with an approved apology.” He says as he easily keeps up with my pace. Darn those long legs. Maybe that’s because he plays basketball all the time. I can still smell his sweat. His sweat was not smelly though.

“Then you will never get home.” I hissed as he still keeps up with me. I made my way to the school exit and I started walking while holding a tight grip on the strap of my shoulder bag.

He pulled me and faced me towards him. I tried to get out of his grip but it was too strong.

“Let go of me!”I protested, pretending not to be scared. But the truth was, I seriously want to be scared right now. His blue eyes intensely gazing into mine.

“No. Not until you accept my apology.”

“How in the world would I accept that?! First, you humiliate me in front of the whole school, and…”

“Let me talk first.”

“No! And second, why do you even want to ruin my life so badly?! Is it your hobby? Huh? And…”

“Let me…”

“No! Let me explain what your missing here…” I said as I jerk on his grip more.

“Shut up or I’ll kiss you! “ That definitely stopped me.

I just stood quiet and avoided his gaze. He sighed with fatigue.

“Okay, Now. Just accept my apology and I swear, I won’t bother you anymore.” He says as his grip lightens. That’s a great deal. I didn’t even think twice, I just said.

“Okay, I accept your apology.”

Great. Now he’s out of my life for good.
