tyler's pov
i wake up startled because there's an arm draped around my waist, i then calm down and realize that it's josh. i turn around to face him and take in his beauty. he seems so peaceful and at ease in his sleep. i trace his face with my fingers and kiss his forehead. his eyes flutter open.
"h-hey bub, you alright?" he asks. his morning voice was rough but at a whisper.
"just peachy joshy." i whisper.
"are you still up for the date today?" he says, i nod in agreement. "good. let's go eat some breakfast, and then you can go home and get ready."
we get out of bed and head downstairs. ms.dun was making some french toast and boy did it smell like heaven.
"hey you two, breakfast is almost done." she gave us a smile.
once breakfast was done it was time to go. i really didn't want to leave but i'll be with josh tonight anyways. i gave a quick 'bye' to ms.dun and went to put on my shoes. i was about to leave before josh grabbed my wrist and pulled me into a hug.
"you really think you were gonna leave without telling me bye?" i just tighten my arms around his torso. "i'll text you when i'm ready. dress casual there's no need to get all dolled up. see you in a bit bub." i let go and headed back to my house.
i was excited for our date but also really fucking nervous. i've never been on a date before, no one has ever liked me enough to ask me.
i spent a whole hour just laying in my bed thinking. i was still in the clothes josh let me borrow. i decided that a shower might calm me down so i took a quick one. i made my way to my closet and decided on a simple outfit, only because josh said dress casual.
another couple hours passed by and josh texted me.
joshy: bub you ready to go?
me: yeah : )
joshy: well get your cute butt outside.
me: my butt isn't cute but ok
i grab my wallet and keys and headed out the door. i saw josh standing there looking breathtaking as always. he had a big smile on his face and man was my heart beating so fast. i still have no clue why he wants to go on a date with me.
"aww you do look cute." i blushed. "you ready?" he asked.
"you look n-nice too" i curse myself for stuttering. "where are we going?"
"that's for me to know and you to find out." he said. i rolled my eyes.
we got in his car, instead of me playing music he did. i was a little confused because he always makes me play music. he plugged the aux cord in his phone and played a song. i immediately face palmed when i heard First Date by blink-182 play.
"josh you're so stupid. why did i agree to this?"
"because i'm pretty cool." he said.
"you're lucky i like this song." i rolled my eyes and looked out the window. "can you please tell me where we're going?" he shook his head. asshole.
we ended up at some small pizza place, it was really nice. we sat at a booth in a back corner. our waitress handed us our menus and asked what we would like to drink. i got a lemonade while josh settled for water. she left to get our drinks while me and josh decided what to get.
"you're cute you know." i blushed and tried to hide it. "stop hiding your blush it's fucking adorable. how many times do i have to tell you?" i just shrugged.
the waitress came back with our drinks and asked what we would like. josh ordered for us and the waitress kept trying to flirt with josh. i found it amusing.
"dude she was totally flirting with you." i chuckled, he looked at me and tilted his head. "really you didn't notice? oh my god josh."
"eh i don't pay attention, she didn't catch my eye like you did." he smirked.
"oh whatever asshole." i shook my head.
our food arrived and boy did it look delicious. josh ordered a pizza for us to share. we both grabbed a slice and took a bite. i basically moaned, it was so good.
"i'm gonna take that as you like it." he chuckled. i nodded my head and continued eating.
the rest of the dinner consisted of us shoving pizza down our throats and small talk. when it came for us to pay i insisted that i pay for half. he kept shaking his head and payed, i felt bad. we left and got back into josh's car.
"you ready for part two of this date." he beamed.
"p-part two? i thought we were just going out to eat." i said.
"i'm full of surprises." he smirked.
we drove around for a little bit and made it to a park? i was a little confused because the sun was about to set. ohh what a little shit, he's trying to be so romantic. duh tyler sunsets are beautiful/romantic. josh got out the car and made his way to my side and opened the door. he held out his hand and got me out the car. instead of letting go he intertwined our fingers.

"so what're we doing here?" i ask.
"well we can walk around and then find a nice place to watch the sun go down." he said, i nodded and looked around. there was a small pond with a bench close to it, there was a great view right there.
"josh let's go sit over there." i pointed to the bench and he nodded. it was a nice night out, it was a little chilly. the sky was absolutely stunning. there was swirls of pinks, blues, and purples.
"joshy stop staring at me and enjoy the beautiful sunset." i said.
"i'm fine with staring at you, that's good enough for me." as cheesy that was i blushed anyway, i'm not use to getting complimented. "aww cute you're cheeks match the sunset." he cooed.
"joshhhh stop making me blush." i whined. he just moved closer to me and put his arm around me. he whispered 'never' in my ear. his warm breath sent chills down my spine.
the temperature felt like it dropped and it got really cold, i started shivering, josh noticed.
"you cold?" he asked, i mumbled a yes. he takes off his jacket and drapes it over my shoulders, he moves me closer to him and i rest my head on his chest. "better?" i nod.
"you're so nice to me josh. why?"
"because you're special tyler, you make me happy. when i was first diagnosed i didn't know how i felt. i felt empty. i was diagnosed a couple months before you got here, something about your presence made me feel at ease. i had to get to know you. i'm glad that i did get to know you, you brought back my happiness tyler joseph, you have no clue how grateful i am that you showed up into my life."
i was completely shocked, i didn't notice the tears streaming down my face.
"j-josh" the tears wouldn't stop.
"oh tyler baby don't cry. i'm sorry." he tilted my head up and wiped my tears with the pads of his thumbs. "you ready to go? it's getting late." i nodded. he stood up and grabbed my hand and walked us back to the car.
the car ride home was quiet, i couldn't stop replaying what he said to me in my head. we arrived at our houses and stood on the side walk.
"t-thank you for everything josh. honestly tonight was amazing. i-if i'm being completely honest this was my first date ever. i'm g-glad that it was with you." i said.
"well i'm glad that you had a nice night. are you ready for part three of this date?" he said.
"p-part three?" i say.
he gets closer to me and tilts my head upwards. he slowly leans down and places his lips on mine. i was shocked for a second and kissed back. my arms wrap around his neck while he cups my cheeks. it was a nice subtle kiss and i was sad when he pulled away, i craved for more. he moved his hands to my waist and pulled me into a hug.
"thanks for letting me take you out tonight. i would love to do it again." he said.
"of course joshy." i whisper. he pecks my lips and walks to his house.
i make my way to mine and head up to my room. tonight was honestly the best night of my life. i still have josh's sweater that he told me to keep, i put it on and strip to just my boxers. i lay in bed and stare at the ceiling. i brush my fingers over my bottom lip, i already miss him. my phone buzzes.
joshy: goodnight baby boy sweet dreams. 💓
i look out my window and see josh staring back at me. i smile and wave to him, he waves back.
me: goodnight joshy thank you for everything 💞
i then realized what happened today.
holy shit i kissed josh dun tonight.
